Chucky was out of line. I defended him on the coach comments, but now its getting out of hand. Sure he is fed up with losing, who isn't, but you don't makes remarks about your star and franchise player like that...it doesn't help team chemistry at all.

BTW, I think it is pretty obvious Kobe has a lot of say in what peieces get placed here this offseason, if he was smart..he would push Kupcake to move Atkins/fillers for a ham sandwich at most?

I'd rather him just push Kupcake out the door instead. [IMG]

Regardless if the media used Chucky's words out of context, he should know better to even give them that type of sound bite in the first place. If he was smart he would get back on the record and rip that person who wrote the story in the first place.

but hey, it's true isn't it. i mean, if you really think about it, the team only cares about kobe's needs. kobe doesn't like phil? fine, phil leaves. kobe doesn't like shaq? fine, shaq leaves. i bet the reason why gary payton got traded is because kobe told mitch to trade him. i won't be surprised at all if chudky isn't here next season. after all, kobe's the gm.

Hey you can't be em, then join em
Chucky forgets one thing...that he should play more and better like he supposed to as a point guard. The Lakers might have won more games and as Chucky contributes more to the wins, his voice will go heard by front office too. He should concentrate on playing ball and agree whateva Kobe has to say if, like he said, he wants to remain a Laker, he should kiss Kobe's ass who he calls GM.

    ESPN.com news services

Los Angeles Lakers: Chucky Atkins, whose locker used to belong to Shaquille O'Neal, became the latest Laker to criticize Kobe Bryant.

Asked about what moves he would make in the offseason to improve the free-falling Lakers, Atkins took a shot at the seeming control Bryant has over the team.

"I ain't the GM of this team," Atkins told the Los Angeles Times. "Kobe's the GM of this team. Ask Kobe. You've been watching this [stuff] all year. You've been watching it and I've been playing it."

Team sources told the paper Atkins has been frustrated by Bryant's criticisms of his defensive play. Atkins also reportedly is irritated by how many shots Bryant takes.

Atkins told the Times "it was hard to play with anybody that's a star" when asked how it was to play with Bryant.

    Bryant shrugged off Atkins' complaints.

"He'll just work through it," Bryant told the Times. "He'll be fine. That's my boy, so I'll look out for him, make sure he stays confident, make sure he stays aggressive."

Atkins has a year left on his contract after this season and has said he hopes to return to the Lakers next season rather than be traded during the offseason.

I am calling Chucky a girl, does it matter no. Chucky isn't going to be a member of this francise for very long even IF he didn't say those things.

    So it really doesn't matter.

Chucky's defense sucks and kobe is a selfish ballhog, so the blame is on the team as a whole

Here's an update, both Chucky & Kobe are shrugging this article off.

Drama seems to follow the Los Angeles Lakers, win or lose.

During the past five years, when the Lakers were winning, there was always something between Shaq and Kobe, Shaq and Phil or Kobe and Phil.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">``I ain't no GM. Ask Kobe. He's the GM. It's his team,'' Atkins said.

The 30-year-old Atkins seemed to backtrack almost immediately. Following the Lakers' 96-89 loss to the 76ers, he acknowledged that while confidence and morale were down, team members were ``too professional to point fingers.''

Following Monday's practice, Atkins acknowledged it was ``very possible'' that what he meant to say wasn't what came out, although he insisted the reporter questioning him had been trying to get him to say something negative about Bryant for weeks.

``I don't think you should try to divide my team,'' Atkins said. ``We're not going to splinter. Kobe's my man. Me and Kobe have developed a relationship where anything I have to say to him, I can say to his face. I'm in a no-win situation.''

Only Atkins knows his true feelings.

``We're in a bad situation right now,'' he said. ``We know that.''

The Lakers (32-37), who will try to end their current skid on Tuesday night against the New York Knicks, lost their last 10 games of the 1993-94 season to finish with a 33-49 record. That was the last time they failed to qualify for the playoffs, something that will happen this year barring a complete turnaround in the last 13 games and prolonged slumps by two of the three teams immediately above them.

Bryant, the NBA's second-leading scorer, supported Atkins.

``We really didn't have much of a conversation (Monday),'' Bryant said. ``He was pretty adamant about how it happened, that it was taken out of context. Everybody here sticks together. We're not going to let anybody divide us.

``If you guys are here to stir something up, you're not going to get it out of me. All we want to do is come here, work hard, play basketball. We had a great day of work. There's nothing going on.''

Yep, your the greatest judger of kobe's game, a wade/tmac fan.

so exactly do you catch what kobe does on espn highlights or do you exactly watch every game like i do.

I think I would be a better judge of what kobe does cuz i have missed 1 game this season and that was for my great uncles birthday.

And I would say he isn't a selfish ball hog.

Jump off the the hate bandwagon.

I just want to say that Kobe is ahead of Shaq in efficiency, which is ((PTS + REB + AST + STL + BLK) - ((FGA - FGM) + (FTA - FTM) + TO)) / G
Kobe is 7th in the NBA
Kobe averages 6 assists behin only Bron and AI among SG's he would be 16th in NBA if he played enough games

first of all, i AM t-mac fan, but im not a blind die-hard fan who thinks that t-mac is a god and the rests suck.. if you criticize t-mac by saying he's not a leader I AGREE, if you say t-mac is a quitter because last season he opted to be traded from orlando, I AGREE, and as a good fan i really hope he can change his weakness..

second, i'm not the only person who think kobe is a selfish ballhog, look at the NBA all hated team thread, many people think the same way as i do.. Kobe is a talented player, but his weakness is his selfishness.

Yes i don't watch every lakers game but i do watch them sometimes, and i still think kobe is selfish, the reason he got a high number of assist is because he dishes to his teammates after shaking 1-2 defenders and driving to the lane.. i'm not saying that he always like that but most of the time he is.. therefore kobe's and AI's teammates should be a pure shooter, just like korver..

if you still think kobe is not a ballhog, fine, it's your thing.. i respect your opinion. ok, i'm out of here, peace [IMG]

It's a breakdown of how Kobe is perceived by the media and fans. If you hear Kobe is a ballhog and selfish enough times you're going to think he is a ballhog and selfish. But for the fans who actually watch him play every game you would realize he's anything, but a ballhog on a nightly basis.
