If you were Chris Mullin and were definitely concerned about not being able to afford Pietrus, Zarko, Dunleavy and Biedrins because of salary budget, what reasonable trade scenarios would you come up with to dump Fisher and Foyle's lengthy guaranteed salaries? Foyle's a good shotblocker/high energy player so that has some value around the league. Then you have Fisher who likes to score like a shooting guard and can be clutch when given the ball behind the arc. What teams do you think would go for their skillset and their contracts? Like would anybody do something along the lines of sending Fisher back to the Lakers for a small forward and drafting a 2nd round point guard in the draft like a Chris Thomas or a Nate Robinson? Or what about pairing Foyle up with Dampier again and taking on somebody that will come off the books faster. Shawn Bradley (groan) or Tariq Abdul Wahad? I'm not sure if Dallas would do that because of Didier Mbenga and Pavel Podkolzine having similar talents in the shotblock department. Mark Cuban definitely doesn't mind spending money, so I could see us doing more trades with them just to get rid of hefty contracts that they may see value in, but not for Foyle or for Fisher. (That would definitely rock though if we wanted to give us Jason Terry or Devin Harris, but that would never happen).
Hmmm, what about Foyle for Kelvin Cato? Cato's getting on in years, and his contract expires the following season (Same as Tony Battie, but he's younger and decent defensive center). Plus you never know what the Magic might do with Steve Francis. Maybe the Magic need solid veteran leadership to mentor Dwight Howard and will look to trade Steve Francis this summer for a sign and trade shooting guard. We could swap draft picks with Orlando so they might land Chris Paul who is a consensus top pick for point guard. I also think I heard Orlando was one of the team's in the hunt for Adonal Foyle last offseason, but I can't remember what source. Depending on what moves Orlando will make, I bet something could be there for that team in them landing a center that can do the dirty work and tide them over for at least 4 years until they find a suitable starter. Foyle's contract won't seem that bad once Grant Hill's contract comes off the books in another two seasons or so and all of the Magic's centers off the books. It seems bad to us because we have Murphy, Jrich and now Baron Davis. Plus Fisher's contract doesn't seem that great at times... Maybe he'll pay off in the playoffs if we get there some day.
Fisher will be easier to trade than Foyle, contract wise and productivity wise. I mean if we tried to trade Foyle we actually have to give up talent. Like package him with a high 1st round pick or a guy like Dunleavy. But then again I can't think of any team that would take Fisher freely. Teams wouldn't mind to have him, but not his contract. Sort of like how we feel about him. Again, we'd probably need to mix him into some big deal.
Foyle's #10 in blocks per game in the league, that's got to count for something. Maybe that's why Mullin paid to retain him because he's supposed to do the dirty work that Murphy won't do in protecting the paint against players driving the lane. I bet he could be moved under the right circumstance, but we'd get a player that's probably useless to us and won't be very helpful the rest of the way unless we've already have somebody lined up at center. I bet there's probably some team like New York that would kill for a shotblocker maybe and doesn't care about spending
Fisher going to the Mav's seems to be my logical choice in unloading his contract. When it comes to unloading contracts, Cuban seems to be the man. I don't know what Mullin has up his sleeves, but re-signing the second wave of young ones on the W's going to be difficult and someone is going to end up starring for another team.
The Lakers went from dynasty to lottery and might be sold on the idea that bringing Fisher back would be a wise move. The Lakers hold Miami's #1,at the end of the round and I think about 5-7 slots late to get the guy I want, S Stoudamire, but Fish's contract is a factor and that could be as good as we'd get. D Fish has, even recently, had games of 20pt or 8 assists,so there are selling points. We see the day to day downside-someone else may see the highlights, may recall Fish having a good game against them. As to Foyle,I am not in any hurry. Andy has only been active about a month,so it's early to assume he will carry the load, and even if Andy is a starter sometime soon,we will need depth at C,and we need the D. At some point perhaps we have a guy,and I don't know who,who provides what Foyle provides-plus more, and then Foyle becomes expendable. As is,I think Foyle has a role, and unless a deal brought in another player able to also fill that role,I'd wait.
With those contracts ( I know all about it ) they will definitely be hard to move. I think maybe trading for someone who is not close to their levels, however extremely overpaid and expiring soon will work.

We could take the Junkyard Dog off your hands.
Too bad we don't have Przbilla. I don't how much the Blazers paid him but I don;t think it was as much as foyle. He just got 7 blocks tonight.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting custodianrules2:</div><div class="quote_post">Pryzbilla was one of the free agents I was high on. Him and Chris Mihm.</div> Mihm should have been ours. I would be fond of moving Foyle for Mihm
How about Boston swapping picks with us if we get our hands on Chris Paul or Raymond Felton? In return they take either Fisher or Foyle + trade exception to undo one of their contracts to make room for Atoine Walker? I doubt they'd give up Mark Blount or Delonte West. Heck I'd even take Raef La Frentz' overpaid butt because he can at least shoot as well as block shots. He's about as average as Foyle is when it comes to rebounding and post defense. Foyle probably provides more effort because he has to in order to avoid looking completely clueless. These BYC players are so hard to move so I doubt this is realistic.
Pryzbilla was a big zero last year and this year has had a few huge games. Not consistant yet. Mihm was,and still is,a guy who could be effective given the minutes and touches. While he gets some action now,Kobe doesn't give up the ball until he's in a jam,and that limits Mihm. Otherwise Mihm has skills, but isn't quick.
BYC, all the guys we signed last year aren't going away anytime soon unless some miracle trade happens and the pieces all fit. I think Mihm is pretty quick for a 7 foot tall guy. He can definitely flush the ball, hook it and jump higher than any of our big guys can. He's not Rasheed, Garnett, or Tyson Chandler type of athlete nor dominating inside, but he's quick and athletic and talented enough to possibly be effective for us. His post skills and solid offensive game when he does get touches is what makes him pretty intriguing and underrated in my opinion. Then again, I only catch Laker games every other game and it's usually Bryant shooting the rock most of the time followed by Odom, Butler and Chucky Atkins. Mihm's like the 5th option on offense when he probably should be up a little bit higher in situations where somebody needs to get the ball inside... but then again it's Kobe. He can get anywhere he wants to on the court and the ref will call it for him. Maybe the Lakers want that hustle guy on the defensive end and Fisher back for nostalgia It won't work with Lakers though because of BYC and the fact the GM probably wants to use all that cap money to acquire new teammates for Kobe. No doubt about the Lakers that they are in rebuilding mode. Unless they want those guys and somebody knows how to get around the BYC trade rule, we're kind of stuck with these guys who take up a big deal of flexibility for signing our younger players.
