Just a tidbit, but if it's coming from his mouth, it should be legit info. Williams said Houston and a few other teams have shown interest. </div> Great Read for any Basketball fan, though. Williams looks like he is really trying to make it on a team, and I think the Rockets should look into him. With Barry, Moochie, 'Spoon, and possibly Ward (Blood Clot in the Knee) coming off the books next year, might as well give the guy a shot.
Jay Williams was such a great player at Duke and it's unfortunate that he had an accident. I would love to see Jay make a comeback wether it's with Houston or not.
so jay is plannin to be playin next season?? i havent seen him play a lot but i heard he is very talented
Everytime you mention his name, I think of his legacy at duke, and that image of him trying to dunk but failing miserably.
Jay was very talented. He struggled in his rookie year, but remember, the guy is only 23 years old. He has a great attitude and I think he can go far if he wasn't seriously limited by that injury. I do not know the exact extent, so I may not be able to accurately elaborate on his situation. Funny how the guy most talked about after appearing at the 2005 McDonalds All-American game is Jay Williams... ;-D For more insight on his situation and recovery, goto his blog on NBA.com. I've read a few editions and I found it to be a good read for any fan concerned about his recovery.

He said early in the season that once he recovers the Bulls will be his first priority because they had been so good to him by not forfeiting his contract even though he violated the NBA rules on players riding motorcycles. The Bulls even paid most of his contract money. Moochie and Ward still has two years left on their contract.
Im a Duke fan, so I think it would be great. Remember, before anyone knew that the Rockets (who needed a big man) was the number one pick, Jay Williams was the UNDISPUTED no.1 candidate for the first pick of the 2003 draft. Of course, the Rockets and Yao Ming messed all that up hahaha.
Only similarity I see between Jay Williams and Grant Hill is the fact that they're both from Duke, and they were both injured. The circumstances of their injuries were totally different. One in a near fatal accident, another with a normal sports injury that unluckily kept getting re-injured. Another point, Grant Hill was established as one of the greatest players at the time just before his injury. He ahd made his case and really had nothing to prove. Of course now he has alot to prove in order to see him get back to his former self, which will never happen. Jay Williams on the other hand has EVERYTHING to prove, he hasn't not even had one full season in the NBA. Many college sensations have gone on to have mediocre NBA careers, for example, Joe Smith and Glenn Robinson. Don't get me wrong, I love Jay, all I'm saying is that you can hardly compare to Grant Hill, who has proved his worth in the NBA. I would still lvoe to see Jay in Houston though. He woould be great. Sura isn't the youngest of player, and we need someone to take the reigns as our general in the future, and Mik James is still a great bench player and should stay that way if Jay Williams recovers 100% and is in the Rockets.
If Williams can return to his form in his college days and rookie season, as well as maintain all the potential he had before the injury, then why shouldn't we sign him? He's still only 23, and with Sura, Ward and Moochie all getting old and Mike James is 29 also, it would be good to have Jay Williams be our future point guard. He and TMac would form a great running backcourt and we'd have the top 2 picks of the 2003 draft. Btw, if he is to come back, I doubt it would be Chicago as they already have their contract extension issues with Chandler and Curry, and their backcourt looks set with Hinrich, Gordon, Duhon, Nocioni and Pargo, all young guys.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Moochie and Ward still has two years left on their contract.</div> The Rockets have discussed buying out Moocie's contract, so it really wouldn't "come off the book" but he wouldn't be on our roster. Ward's Blood Clot in his knee could force him into retirement, and from what I know, the Rockets do not have to pay him if his health problem is serious enough. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">It would be a miraculous comeback for Jay Williams if he plays but I think he will prefer playing for the Bulls. I would assume his first choice would be the Bulls though, interesting the Rockets were interested in another Point Guard. Like Trip said, Hinrich, Gordon, Deng, Duhon, Pargo, and Nocioni, their backcourt looks set. Never know, though. He might just pull a Grant Hill on the NBA.
He will pull a Grant Hill next season. I put my money on him being an all-star or a 17 7 and 4 player. The fans vote for people who pull of miraculous comebacks even if they dont deserve votes.
