The New York Knicks right now are strugglin to win games on the road and close games. They need that impact player who is always active, talking, screaming, for defense on and off the court and that fan favorite. That player is Latrell Sprewell,he always was running in transicion, stealing balls, forcing turnovers and getting to the free throw line 10 even 15 times a game. The Knicks need to get him back in their uniform because he was such and impact in New York and fearless player going to the basket like Stephon Marbury. As you know Allan Houston is becoming to be a crying baby and is not leadin he's roll has a great warrior by not thinkin on return to help the knicks win only 6 games!!.They only are 6 games behind the 8 spot for the playoffs and Houston is only interested in training camp for next season. Imagine if the knicks get Sprewell back how fast and fearless that lineup will be with Marbury,Crawford,Tim Thomas,Sprewell and Kurt Thomas. But we only have to wait and see if Isiah Thomas thinks like me!!!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Got DWade?:</div><div class="quote_post">My god...the LAST thing the knicks need is spree...</div> well who would you guys prefer to wake us up from this slump????
I know what you're saying, I don't think you're saying it right though. The Knicks need a Sprewell, but they don't need Sprewell. Minus the attitude of course. The Knicks need someone who plays with tremendous heart and plays defense and actually wants to win. Watching some old Knicks games on NBA TV, I realized there were big differences from those Knicks and these Knicks right now. They were balanced, had excellent coaching along with people that wanted to win. They had Marcus Camby who played with a tremendous amount of heart, he hustled and played defense and then there was Larry Johnson. He played with heart and Sprewell used to come off the bench with energy and a desire to win. While the Knicks could use a Sprewell-like leader on the floor, he wont necessarily be a difference maker for these Knicks. Sprewell had help with Houston, Camby etc. Marbury as I said before is a <u><u>role-player.</u></u> He does not have the attitude to win and it seems as if he never learns. We knew these Knicks were headed into the wrong direction when the two captains of the team were fighting! What has flawed the Knicks team this season, is a combination of lack of coaching, balance, injuries and leadership. Right now, I would really say what the Knicks need is a healthy Allan Houston. Before you guys start to kill me, hear me out. Allan Houston was the captain and although he is not always up in your face yelling, or not playing great defense at times, he is what we needed all along. He is a veteran with experience. Many (maybe even a majority) of the Knicks losses have been due to not closing out the game properly. Houston's clutch shooting could have been used down the stretch to help us win. Houston plays with heart, man. Everyone is getting on him because he hasn't finished out the season due to rushing trying to please everyone else. Let his knee rest and let him wait and then when he is healthy in October, he can make a difference. What's the point of returning to a season that's almost over? If he gets injured in these almost meaningless games, that will give the fans, media and everyone else to get on his case yet again. The Knicks need to make moves. They need defense, and they need a leader on the floor. I'm high on the rookies because they work hard and appear to be good leaders for this club. Marbury is not coming close to fulfilling his role as the leader and we need the young players to develop along with (hopefully) Tim Thomas and Penny Hardaway gone for a good player that is a perfect fit for us and relatively young. The Knicks need good moves, continuing to let their rookies develop and not trade them, and some balance with the youth and veterans.

This shows why you arent the GM of the knicks. No, Isiah doesnt always make the best moves but he Isnt THIS stupid. What we need is an energetic, athletic player LIKE spree but NOT spree. Im thinking Gerald Green would be a great fit. He is super athletic and will force turnovers and wreak havoc on defense like spree. What he doesnt have is a bad attitude and you cant expect him to be that in-your-face-guy right away. We need a COACH like that not a player.
I agree with MrJ18 on this one. They need a player with Sprewell's energy and heart, but without the attitude. Everywhere he's played, Sprewell has ended up being a team cancer. He ended up choking his coach in Golden State, he criticized the owners and had plenty of team fines in New York, and now he's pouting because the TWolves won't extend his ridiculous contract. The last thing the Knicks need is another episode of Sprewell. I think Malik Rose has been a fresh of breather air for the team. He bring energy and intangibles off the bench. He fires up his teammates and is a great locker room guy. The Knicks need more like Rose, and less like Spree.

Green would be a perfect fit for you guys. He'd be the Spree type of player the Knicks need. Just a question, who do Knicks management/media/fans think have more potential and will be a corner stone for NY's future, Sweetney or Ariza?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Purple Fever:</div><div class="quote_post">Just a question, who do Knicks management/media/fans think have more potential and will be a corner stone for NY's future, Sweetney or Ariza?</div> I don't know if they judge them seperately. I usually say Ariza and Sweetney. I think they have an equal amount of potential considering their work ethic and talent. Both of them will be cornerstones for the club. I even think the media are equally high on them.
Just a question, who do Knicks management/media/fans think have more potential and will be a corner stone for NY's future, Sweetney or Ariza?[/QUOTE] Both have great future and I like them both, but like all new guys they have to work more on development. For Ariza he needs to work more on the jumper and the 3 point range. So he can be a dominant force at both ends. Sweetman could lead the league in Free Throws attempted so look for him to be a top Offensive Rebounder also. Another thing is he needs to develop those muscle he still looks a little bit chubby guy in the court like Charles Barkley.
Sprewell??? Sigh. I think you've been watching too many tapes of old Knicks games. Sprewell is older now, cant get up and down the floor like he used to, cant jump like he used to and cant finish like he used to. As if all this wasn't bad enough his attitude still sucks. So no to Sprewell . <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Purple Fever:</div><div class="quote_post">Green would be a perfect fit for you guys. He'd be the Spree type of player the Knicks need. Building around swingmen never really work unless that swingman's name happens to be Michael Jordan. Whereas building around a big man in the low post is a proven recipe for success. Nothing like having a big man who can draw double teams. By the way can someone tell me Gerald Green's game? I dont really pay attention to high school players.
gerald green <div class="quote_poster">Quoting tribute:</div><div class="quote_post">By the way can someone tell me Gerald Green's game? I dont really pay attention to high school players.</div> He is a 6'8 SF with around a 40 inch vertical. He is a very good shooter from three and midrange. He is a very smooth player who draws comparisons to TMac. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Everything this kid does is silky smooth, even hard drives to the lane capped with the empathetic dunk seem easy... Has supreme athleticism, and gets many points off ally oop dunks as well as on drives to the hole... Has a very quick, effortless release on his jump shot. Combine that with great elevation and you have an almost unblockable shot... Most of the shots go in, in fact his jump shot from midrange to outside is one of his defining qualities... Loves to spot up for the open three, or stop and pop for the 15 footer... Overall just a sick scorer from outside ... Even At 6'8 he handles the ball like a guard, often starting (and finishing) the fast break... Loves to run the floor for the ally oop dunk, but also knows when to pass the ball... Most of those passes get right where they need to be ... However, those fast breaks don't just start themselves, Gerald is often the one creating the turnovers... His long arms and tremendous athleticism lead to lots of blocked shots and steals. Often creating the turnover, starting the break, and finishing with a monster dunk... Also rebounds exceptionally well for a guard/forward his size... The total package, an all around player who will do whatever it takes to win. There aren't many with his gifts at his size... With time and effort this kid will be something special.</div> source
Eh, you guys can have Latrell. I'm sick of him here in Minnesota. His inconsistent play and selfish is killing me.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting JWohl:</div><div class="quote_post">no, except for one person who will remain nameless none of us want him. He would be a poor fit back in NY </div> Wow. Spreewell must be one of the worst ideas that I have heard in a while. Not only is he a selfish player, but he's old too. We need a player with his kind of intensity, maybe, but with youth and talent. The kind of star talent that can leapfrog us to.....a better position than we are in now.
