<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Saint Joseph?s team bus took off for New York around 8 Sunday night, and if the exhaust clouded the window view of the Fieldhouse, Dwayne Jones was prepared to take one more squinting look. The center for an NIT semifinalist -- and as critical as any Hawk to the rebound-first, rebound-always plan to defeat Memphis tonight -- Jones is not certain when he will play his final college game. But it could be this week at Madison Square Garden, and if so, then he has had his last college practice at 54th and City Line. Though just a junior eligibility-wise, and while almost certain to return next season as one of the more effective big men in Division I basketball, the center from Chester will gain his college diploma in May. That was among his dividends from redshirting during his freshman year, after an All-Delco career at American Christian High School. He is 6-11, and it often appears that his lengthy, muscular arms are responsible for 200 of his 250 pounds. And it would be difficult to find any college player with a more natural gift for rebounding.</div> Source
Here is a guy with legit size, strength, toughness. He is a good rebound/defense guy with not a lot of shooter/scorer skills-as is,sort of a Kelvin Cato. He may develop more offense, become more like PJ Brown. There is a lot of hype over a number of "big" men who,in terms of weight/strength are stretched small f's. A few others have some beef but have shown little commitment to grabbing rebounds, playing D. If some say Petro is top 15,when he has yet to really do squat, then Jones should at least be seen as a round 1 guy. With Jones you will get rebounds,D,a good effort-and maybe you develop more. The guys who have yet to deliver as rebounders,on D,are short on the desire, the toughness to do those things and typically-that won't change much.
