Monday night, two prospects at point take centre court in the ncaa championship game. Deron Williams and Raymond Felton are both players the Raptors brass are likely interested for the 05 draft. I think it would be nice to compare both of their strength's and weakness and dertermine who is a better pick for the Raps. Some are also welcome to suggest that neither are good picks for the Raps.

Well, if I were part of the Raptors organization I would do everything I could to draft Felton.

He does what a pure point guard should do. When I watch him I'm just amazed by his game. He throws some great passes that not only look great but they set his teamates up for easy baskets. He can also get to the rim and into the lane which causes the defense to switch their attention to him which creates easier shots for his teamates on the perimeter.

The Raptors would benifit more if they drafted Felton. IMO, they could be a team that would fastbreak on every oppurtunity. They have some great finishers in Bosh and Rose. They just need someone to get them the ball in scoring position.

I watched NC vs. MSU, and Felton plays a lot like Alston. He made nice passes, but he also rushed some shots the same way Rafer does sometimes. Am I the only one who's comfortable with Alston at PG?

but theonly reason i think felton kept making bad passes was becuase he was feeling nervous about the final four

I'm not saying he made a lot of bad passes. He had maybe one or two, but the thing was his shot selection, which everyone has been hounding Alston for all season.

I'd love to have felton in Toronto. He's quicker, has better court vision and is a better overall passer than D.Will is.

that's what the NBA is about, pressure. If he can't handle the pressure, then..

Looking at Williams' incredible defense on Franciso Garcia last night, I find it hard-pressed to say no to him. Considering the fact that Alston is one of the worst defenders at point guard in the league, I would like to have Deron Williams. Felton might be good and can be something special down the road, but what the Raptors need now are some defensive players, and Williams has the skillset and potential to be a great one in the future.

Man, I was really hoping that Illinois and NC wouldn't make it to the finals cuz now Williams and Felton's stock will rise and we may not have a chance to pick one of them in the draft.

This is kinda off topic but I was also wondering about McCants' stock right now. I always thought his value was pretty high (around the 10th-15th pick) but then I go to draftcity.com and they project him as a second rounder..... what's going on here? Should he be that low?

Id pick Williams over Felton anyday. Williams is a great defender and an excellent point guard. He has what every PG should have, the Pass first, shoot later mentality. And he plays tough Defense which could trickle down to the other 4 players on the court.

We dont need a Rafer clone. The Raps jack up enough bad shots as it is.

Williams is definitely my pick. He's shown, during the tournament, that he's arguably the best point guard in this draft. Unfortunately, his stock has risen a lot, around 5 picks, and he looks out of reach for the Raps. I wouldn't mind Felton, because I think he has a chance to be a Rafer that we can shape for our team. IMO, Williams just posseses a better all-around game and I don't think he would hurt our style of play.
A lot of the draft sources vary on the picks, but I use nbadraft.net to check where the players might be picked. They've been the most accurate before the draft over the years. Mccants and Felton still look within our reach, unless they have monster games tonight.

hate to break it to u but we suck; instead of drafting by need we should draft the best available talent regardless of position.

As much as I'd like the Raptors to draft a center, it won't be likely especially not with our lottery pick. Unless we have Bogut right on the table, Babcock drafting a center would essentially be admitting to the Araujo mistake. No GM likes to admit their wrong, and I doubt Babcock would. Drafting a swingman looks more likely as Babcock has nothing to be criticized for if he does pick one. He didn't have anything to do with trading for and drafting our swingmen, except for matching Mo Pete's contract.

as long as we take a person who's name we can pronounce then i'm cool no european players when there's plenty of talent in the NCAA. i hope we get warrick or felton, but deron williams is ok too...he kinda struggled in the championship game. if one of those two run with bosh, it would be too good to handle.
