With the playoffs almost here and the Mavericks getting that playoff birth the other night against Philly, where do you see Dallas finishing in the playoffs?
Well I think I see them probably finishing 4th in the West, and facing the Kings in the first round. It seems like, for the past 10 games or so, for the Kings, they win a game, and then immediatly follow it up with a loss, though, without Brad Miller and Bobby Jackson. If they come back for the playoffs, which I think I heard they will be, they could really give the Mavs a run and could defeat the Mavs in the first round. If the Mavs are able to get past the Kings in the first round, I see a second round defeat. That's just my opinion though. The Mavs have won 8 of their last 10 games and are really flowing. If they can keep it up through the playoffs, they could be tough to beat.
Fourth seed is all but sealed for the Mavs..Agree with WMCJ on the post season result as well, however it's going to a real tough one.. First round: Dallas beat Houston 4-2 Second round: Dallas beat Phoenix 4-3 WCF: SA beat Dallas 4-2

Yea there is really no doubt that they will finish fourth and no higher. anti-climactic.

Yeah..I really think Dallas can beat Phoenix.. But wait, here's the best part..Phoenix could even lose in the first round if Minnesota makes the 8th seed..
youre wrong <div class="quote_poster">Quoting dallasdude:</div><div class="quote_post">Phoenix is just 2-1 against Dallas this season, all 3 games were close ones and I think Dallas was short handed on each of 'em. This year Minnesota hasnt played well all year and guys like olowakandi, cassel and spree wont be able to run up and down with pheonix.
I think the Mavs have a great chance of beating anyone in the West. They have that killer offense and some decent defense that they haven`t had in previous years. Dallas has some great depth too which could really help too rest players such as Nowitzki and Finley. Could they make it to the West Finals? I think so. They have the talent to shut down teams such as SA and PHX.
I think Charles Barkley said it best, "everyone in the west can beat everyone in the west. But San Antonio with a healthy Tim Duncan can seperate themselves from the others." So i think their will be no upsets in the west and get ready for another all Texas WCF. (Dallas, San Antonio)
Dallas honestly is capable of beating any team in The West, believe it. I've bashed this franchise beyond belief for the past few years, Mark Cuban seemed to be completely clueless when it came to assembling a championship caliber roster. However, he's adding the missing pieces to the puzzle. Nash gone, so they get 4 SOLID point guards. Jason Terry, Devin Harris, Marquis Daniels, and Darrell Armstrong. Dirk Nowitzki can play basketball. East Coast, Far West Coast in Germany, it doesn't matter, this guy can ball. He's going to give just about every team in The Western Conference a fit because they'll lack a defense matchup for his game. Perhaps Garnett and Kenyon Martin are capable, maybe if throw Marion in that list, but honestly there's very few. More Size, More Rebounding. Van Horn, Dampier, Not Bad. Lots of Depth. Stackhouse as 6th Man? VERY DEEP. I truly believe they have a chance....
Dallas should beat either Houston or Sacramento in RND 1. This would set them up for a showdown against former teammate Steve Nash. If Dallas can make this a 6 or 7 game series, their depth should give them the edge. Dallas is stronger on the road this year, and a little weaker at home. The Mavs have a lot of players to make it difficult for Amare to score. They'll give him a lot of looks with Dampier, Dirk, Hendu, and Van Horn. The Mavs need Dampier to show up in the playoffs though. If Dampier brings his 'A' game, the Mavs could be looking at a Finals appearance.
I agree, and I thoroughly believe that Dampier will come up big. When Johnson had the brief 10 game head coaching stint earlier in the year, he got through to Dampier in a way Don Nelson just couldn't. Dampier was putting up monster games, I remember a 15pt-20reb-5blk game in there(Approximately)? If he gets healthy and the team STAYS healthy; watch out West, here we come.
Id agree that this will be the best shot the Mavericks have had at advancing as far into the playoffs as they ever have and even winning a championship.BUT, the Spurs are still there and theyre the favorite for obvious reasons. On top of the Spurs there are two teams in the East that I think would be favored over Dallas in a playoff series.
the only ones I think should be favored over the Mavs are Phoenix and San Antonio in the West and only Miami in the East (mainly because of Shaq). Otherwise, I believe that Dallas is the better of all the other teams in the league. Definitely against Houston. I can't wait for the series to start on Saturday. Otherwise, I believe the Mavs have a great chance to win it all.
