<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Kevin McHale is vice president of basketball operations for the Timberwolves and has been the team's interim coach since he fired Flip Saunders on Feb. 12.

People close to McHale say the question is not: Will he coach next season? The question is whether he will even be employed in any phase of the Timberwolves operations.

McHale definitely will not coach in 2005-06, I can tell you that. He has been very frustrated this season, first by the way the team played lackadaisically early for Saunders; then when he took over the team and found it difficult to motivate some players to perform at their best.

It will not be easy rebuilding this team, which went to the Western Conference finals in 2004 but probably will miss the playoffs this season.

McHale might believe it is time for him to eliminate some pressure on his life, retire from the Wolves and spend some more time hunting and fishing. He also has turned down more than one offer to work as a color commentator for NBA games.</div>

They are probably bringing in a new coaching staff next season, and McHale will be gone.

I posted an email that I got from Dave D'Alessandro, who covers the Nets for the Newark Star-Ledger, and he talked about how McHale may resign after this season. Like I said, I think it's for the best for McHale and the organization to part ways.

He hasn't been happy this year with the way his team played and he is still bothered about firing Flip.

I hope he does come back as President of Basketball Operations. He has made some great decisions, like drafting Garnett for instance. I would love to see him stay with the organazation. Even when he was in the booth he helped out guys like Garnett and Ebi with their post games. He always was an 'assistant coach, if you want to look at it like that.

I think his main concern, leaving or not, should be finding us a new coach.

Pure: His moves as a GM has not really worked out much. Sure he did well getting KG, but what about the other picks and what about the trades. I give McHale credit for building last year's team as he did a very good job getting those guys to lead us to the third round. WIth that said, this team needs a lot of changes and the window of winning a championship is over. I would love to see a new GM lead us to the next era.

If McHale wants to coach the Wolves, I am all for it. I think he has done a very good job as coach particularly in getting the most out of Kandi, but I am really hellbent about getting a new GM.

I totally agree with this post. I would love for him to come back as President of Basketball Operations. He wasn't too bad at it before this year. He is just not a coach.

Mchale has made some good moves, the best would obviously be drafting KG, but he has made more bad choices than good in my opinion. The incident with Joe Smith has hindered the organisation because it has stopped us from getting younger players and now the team is one of the oldest in the league. He hasn't drafted any good talent except for KG and Wally was decent (and Ray Allen but traded for Marbury). He hasn't made that many good trades except for last year but that's backfired. He has continiously changed our roster each season and the has caused chemistry problems.

He was good but I think the team needs some new faces in the organisation and not just the roster. I think it would be better for both.

Strong point about the Joe Smith scandal. That has prevented us from getting the young talent that would be coming in handy right about now. Last year he stacked the roster, and it obviously worked. Although we went with strong talent, not necassarily strong attitude. That is the main thing that his hindered us this year: attitude.

Did you know that McHale spent three months working with Steve Nash? THREE MONTHS in 1996 yet we decided to go with Selfish Mebury and that worked out well. Bad job by McHale. Yes, Nash was raw, but McHale was ready to pick him. I can't believe McHale reneged on this one.
