Yes! Actually, I don't really care. If I had no bracket, I would have wanted Illinois to win, but I can't go back on my word/prediction.

Good game, it was becoming intense at the end. UNC could not put away Illinois, but Illinois settled for too many three's which I think cost them.

    congrats

Congratulations to the national champs UNC!!

But most importantly lets talk a look at Roy Williams who everybody was talking about. Congratulations to him for taking the most talanted team in the nation of which he only added 1 important player to the championship. He deserves all the attention he is getting instead of the players. NOT!! the real people who deserve kudos are Matt Doherty for assembling most of team, McCants, May (who was sensational), felton, J. Williams, M. Williams and the rest of the team. Dont take this moment away from them and focus or Roy, PLEASE!!

YAY! Great game, I didn't expect UNC to have such a good first half/Illinois to have such a bad 1st. Illini fought hard, but yay UNC [IMG].

Congrats to UNC! I had them goin all the way, and they're my fav team, but a great game especially in the 2nd half where the game was really close.

Congratulations to North Carolina on their fourth national championship! While I don't like the bandwagon fans that have flocked to UNC over the years, and I don't like Roy Williams, and I don't like Sean May, and I don't like the fact that they just cost me a potential $250 dollar pot, and I don't like the fact that they deprived the Big Ten from having six national title winners, I still feel good for them. This is their moment and I'm not going to come in here whining about the reffs (although taking Augustine out of the game was a little suspect).

Also, congratulations to Illinois on being the new Roy Williams. Not only did they blow the chance to have an undefeated regular season, but they blew the chance to win their first ever national championship and to make NCAA history with 38 wins. They now have more tournament wins than any other team to not have a title (Although Oklahoma deserves consideration for sucking almost equally bad in the tourny.)

Illini played almost flawless ball in the second half, that one flaw..the turnover...really hurt them.

Great win by UNC, very exciting game..congratulations to May, Felton, McCants, Roy Williams, and the whole damn school.

Illinois relied too much on their outside shooting...And nobody was able to stop Sean May...

Great game today by both teams. Sean May was an absolute beast as usual. Hopefully a championship means that both Marvin Williams and Sean May come out and make it a deeper draft this year. If that happens then 4 Tar Heels are potential lottery picks.

Alright, I was wanting to be nice to UNC fans, but come on. Sean May was an absolute beast against a twig who averages four points per game. Had James Augustine been in the game, Illinois might have won. Don't tell me that he legitimately fouled out either. Five touch fouls? Roy must have cut a sweet deal with these reffs. Why the hell do you call five touch fouls in the national championship on Illinois' only big man when you know that UNC's strongest area is in the paint? Bad reffing. Anyway, don't take that as an excuse for Illinois losing. I'm just saying that it's a little easier for Cookie Monster to dominate when he's going up against JV competition.

Congrats to UNC...they were the favorites at the beginning of the year and they didn't let anyone down. Marvin Williams is the man. That is all.

Time to hop off Marvin Williams, Shard. Marvin Williams is the anti-clutch. Did you see how many key possessions he blew for the Tarheels? This kid showed that he couldn't handle the big stage. In fact, none of the players from either teams had a particularly clutch performance. However, Williams leads that crowd of underachievers. He had a so-so game but almost lost it for the Heels.

You can't expect to keep reaching in and still get away with It time after time. May would destroy Augustine one on one as he would everyone else who Iiinois put on him. He was unstoppable down low like everyone expected.

Marvin Williams was trulely terrible out there, I hope he returns to UNC next season to develop his game more as he doesn't look like a guy who can produce straight away at all. He has looked very average the past couple of games.

Congrats to Illiois on a great season, they had two great looks near the end of the game..mainly Head but they couldn't knock It down

If May is told he will be a top 10 pick then he will certainly be entering to the NBA.

YES!!!! Death to the bandwagon [IMG]

I made the prediction before the season that UNC would win it all. They did, I was right, the Illini bandwagon was shut down, and we're all fine and dandy.

UNC dodged a few bullets near the end, but they played solid basketball throughout the game (with only a few stretches that they seemed uncertain) and pulled through as champions. Great game by them [IMG]

There's a fine line between not letting Augustine get away with reaching in and completely taking the Illini out of the game, and the reffs crossed that line. I didn't see much of a foul on that time that he fouled out either. When there's that little contact on this big of a stage with that high profile of a player, you should just let the players play.

I never said May was stoppable, but I definitely think Augustine could have slowed him down a little more than Ingrahm could have. Besides, the offensive production from Augustine might have pushed Illinois over the top just as much as his defensive play would have. This game came down to the last minute, so I definitely think Augustine would have impacted the game enough for the Illini to win.

After his monster tournament, some scouts just might be looking at him that way. Zach Randolph, Carlos Boozer, Reggie Evans, and a handfull of other undersized power players have all had successful careers in the NBA. With guys like McCants (6-3) and Stoudamire (6-1) having serious chances of becoming first round draft picks as shooting guards, then I think that May should have just as good of a chance to crack the top ten as a 6-9 PF/C.

You can't blame him for being a very thick man with a propensity to finish well around the basket.

And about the reffing it goes both ways. The only way Illinois was coming back in the second half was due to their moving screens. I saw Luther Head come off multiple moving screens for 3's that brought Illinois back. Also Augustine should have known better than to keep on reaching after his 3rd foul. It was tight reffing but those were fouls nonetheless.

Illegal screens all game long. I was screaming at the TV at one point.

If augustine fouled out on ticky-tack fouls, it was offset by all the moving screens that werent called. Marvin Williams probably just dropped his stock down to a top 10 instead of an arguable #1 overall.

Sean May looks like he could be the player Robert Traylor was supposed to be: great hands, not an amazing leaper, very instinctive, wide body. Sean needs to make sure he keeps his motivation, and he can be a real good player in the NBA. I personally think another year of college is good for him, but it's hard to pass up the $$$
