The vote came early June 7 after nearly seven hours of debate in front of a standing-room only crowd of about 200. Opponents of the NFL project, including Mayor Bill Bogaard, argued that a proposed $500 million renovation of the Rose Bowl would bring too much traffic, displace park users from the Arroyo Seco and threaten the historic status of the 83-year-old stadium. The league has been considering the Rose Bowl for nearly three years. The Los Angeles area has been without an NFL team since the Rams left for St. Louis and the Raiders returned to Oakland in 1995. The council will now pursue a different plan to secure the financial future of the Rose Bowl, which supporters of the NFL plan claim loses $2 million a year. The city partly uses money generated by the golf course adjacent to the stadium to cover those losses. Bogaard, who believes the $2 million figure is a gross overstatement, has said there are other ways to make the required capital improvements to the stadium, which has a contract to host UCLA football games through 2023. Darryl Dunn, general manager of the Rose Bowl, didn't rule out future discussions with the NFL, although he said it would be up to the city council to initiate them. "We're not proceeding with any discussion with the league, however, the door was not closed all the way," he said, noting two council members abstained from the vote. "It's possible things may open up at some point. We hope if that did occur the NFL would want to talk to us," Dunn said. The NFL is also considering the Los Angeles Coliseum and Anaheim, but no decision is expected before the league settles collective bargaining and revenue sharing matters. No NFL team will ever succeed in Los Angeles. I don't know why they even bother. The NFL sees "TV Ratings" because of the huge population, but even they aren't that great! People who live in LA just don't give a s*** about football! Oh...and another team wouldn't affect the bye week. But it would screw up the division alignments if it were truly a "new" team and not a current NFL club moving out there (like the Saints/Vikings/Jaguars).
Ziggy Wilf (new Vikings owner) has said that he has no plans to move the team (we've heard that before). He also said that he hopes his family owns the team for several generations...there goes my master plans of saving up $600 million to buy the team.

The only way to have even divisons, if they dont move anybody, is to have 11 divisons with 3 teams each. That would be werid because one conference would have one more divison
