<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Finally, rookie Sasha Vujacic got a chance to play, and he played pretty well for the Lakers against Memphis on Sunday night. Vujacic, a 6-foot-7 guard, scored a career-high 10 points in 24 minutes. "It was nice to get out there and show what you can do," Vujacic said. "I was waiting (to play). To tell you the truth, I didn't know why I'm not playing." Vujacic joined a group that helped the Lakers trim a 27-point second-quarter deficit to 10 points in the third quarter. "I thought he played well," Lakers interim coach Frank Hamblen said. "He was a part of us getting it back down respectable. ... I thought he played just fine." The Lighter Side The Lakers were outscored 55-32 in the first half but outscored the Grizzlies 50-47 in the second half. Hamblen, looking for a joke in a sad season, found one. "Is the CBA still going on, where you get a point for winning a quarter?" Hamblen said. "I'll probably find out. That's probably where I'll be next year." </div> Source
Hey all, first post here. I think Vujacic could definately be a good backup player if they could get him in alot earlier in the game. He has good form when he shoots and his defense is a bit better than Atkins at the moment. He needs to gain some weight and muscle though. Hopefully he can get more playing time with the 8 or so games left to build up some experience and confidence.
Welcome to JustBBall Brok3n! It's great to see another die-hard Laker fan chime in and post something positive for the team to focus on next year. Vujacic can definitely play offense, but he really needs to bulk up and get tougher on defense. The Lakers have one of the best trainers in the league, so if Sasha's work ethic and commitment is there, he should develop the size to be successful in the league. After Luke Walton, I think he's the best passer on the Lakers. Hopefully he can steal all of Tierre Brown's minutes next year.
Thanks for the welcome shapecity Die hard Laker fan since I remember watching basketball in 89'-90'. Yeah I see more ability in Vujacic than Brown. Luke Walton I think too is a good passer especially when Shaq was on the team last year. Is he coming back this year? Medvedenko shot pretty damn well tonight too, actually hope he stays..
The Lakers might as well showcase Sasha for the rest of the year like they are doing with Vlade. He only played 7 minutes last night, less than Tierre Brown. The Lakers need to start playing Walton, Sasha, and Slava to see if they are going to be worth keeping around. We all know what Chucky does, we all know what JJ does, and we all know what Tierre does. I really don't like Slava. He looks great in garbage time, but when he's put into a position to start or get heavy minutes, he looks terrible. His defense is atrocious and he never passes the ball. We already have Brian Cook playing the same way, but Cook is a better shooter and younger. I've read Walton doesn't plan on re-signing with the Lakers.
I think that the lakers should play Sasha untill the year end, it will help him to get more development on a NBA level. I think that Vujajic can be a great contribution to the team on years to come he just needs time to develop and by time of course i mean playing time.
