<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">No fool when it comes to messing with NBA suspensions, Jerome James nearly left KeyArena last night as soon as he arrived.

When a loose and unassuming James entered the building for the game against Portland, his uniform wasn't in his locker, and he was told by Antonio Daniels, Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis that he had been mysteriously suspended for the night.

"I told him, 'I don't know, Jerome, but I heard you were suspended,' " Daniels said. "He said, 'Cool, I'm going to the house.' "

James couldn't really think why he had been suspended, but when he couldn't find coach Nate McMillan, assistant coach Dwane Casey confirmed the penalty was being enforced for some unknown infraction.

"Well, I'm gone then," he said.

James turned around and headed down the hallway, preparing to return home for the night when his teammates suddenly called out: "April Fools'."

Told of his center's gullibility a few minutes later, McMillan looked chagrined: "That's not good. That's a joke he should have caught."

But it wasn't the only April Fools' joke perpetrated by the Sonics' pranksters. Rookie center Robert Swift arrived at his locker to find his shoes had been wound together in tape. And Portland Trail Blazers guard Richie Frahm, who played for the Sonics last season, arrived at his locker to find it stocked with a pile of women's underwear.

James didn't mind being the butt of the joking.

"You know, a lot of suspensions have happened this year," he said. "I thought I was next in line."</div> Source
