"Raymond [Felton], he and I sat down before the season started and said we would have a discussion once the season was over. ... Marvin [Williams], I?ve heard him say that he?d really love to stay, but he and I are going to sit down and talk. I would love to see Mccants back for his senior year but I realize that it isn't going to happen. Mccants along with May and Felton were brought into UNC to turn the program around and it looks like they did that. Now it is more of an issue of where Mccants is going to be drafted and how good of a player he is going to become. I unlike other sports reporters and draft expects believe that Rashad is going to turn out as a good pro. The reason they feel that Rashad isn't going to be a good pro is because of his height at 6'4" or 6'3" which to me isn't a legit reason. There are guys around the league now, say Ray Allen and Ben Gordon who are playing the two guard spot below the 6'4" spot.
Well since his draft stock won't get any higher anytime soon (like it was ever going to be high at all) he mineaswhile come out now. Even though I think he should stay personally. I don't think he'll be that good at the next level. Bad attitude and doesn't necessarily have the best skill set to survive as a 6'4 swing.

What does his height matter anyways btw? Ben Gordon is 6'2" or so and he's not only survived as a swing, he's thrived there. I think McCants has all the tools to survive. He's got a great jump shot and he's a tremendous athlete, plus, he's not a bad defender. I think he has all the tools to be great on the next level.

McCants is no Ben Gordon. Gordon in college showed an ability to run the point, create his own shot, shoot with hands in his face, and rise up to conquer any and all pressure in the clutch. Since when has Rashad shown that? I have yet to see enough proof to put faith in him to create his own shot, the reason why his jumper seemed so great (which it is good but not great) is because Felton got him so many open looks. He has never shown any great ball handling skills that would get him scoring opportunities in the pros. His athleticism is a big plus, I admit that, and it will get him some scoring opportunities in the pros, but I don't know if his attitude and sketchy ball handling will be worth the risk.
McCants is a headcase let him leave. Daniel Green will be able to fill his spot, and Noel will help. He will have an ok NBA career, but will never be great. Rashad gets on himself when he is struggling, and brings his team down with him. He has a bad attitude. Shoot May is not only the best player on the team but the smartest. Sean May is the man.
