<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Woodson likes May, North Carolina, too Hawks coach Mike Woodson is convinced he had dinner with a national champion Saturday night. We won't know for sure until after tonight's NCAA title game between Illinois and North Carolina. Woodson, however, is sure of his initial pick --- the Tar Heels, led by the son of his best friend and business partner, Scott May. "I went with Carolina from the start because of Sean [May]," Woodson said of the tournament's leading scorer and rebounder. "I've known this kid since he was an infant, and I've watched him develop over the years. And he's not only a good basketball player right now, he's a genuinely good kid. He's been taught the right way, and that's what you've got to like." Woodson flew to St. Louis after the Hawks wrapped up practice Saturday afternoon, picked up Scott May and headed downtown to the Edward Jones Dome for the national semifinal games. After a late dinner and three hours of sleep, Woodson boarded a plane and headed back to Atlanta for the Hawks' game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday night at Philips Arena. "It was worth it," Woodson said of his whirlwind weekend. "Just being there for Scott and Sean was a treat. And the games were fabulous. "You've got the two best teams in college basketball getting it on for the title, and that's the way it should be." </div> Source
I like Sean May just as much as him and have the same beliefs about him, he seem's like a great kid and yesterday he got a well-deserved birthday present, a championship. If he declares for this year, which he probably wont, I'd be willing to trade down to get him. May IMO is arguably the best collegic player at the big man position after Bogut.

IMO, it would benifit him more if he comes back to North Carolina for one more year. They will have a shot at another championship and May will be able to develop more before going pro. He would be a great fit for the Hawks. They need a big man who can grab at least 10 rebounds a game and provide as a scoring option. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Buckets:</div><div class="quote_post">May IMO is arguably the best collegic player at the big man position after Bogut.</div> I think May is better than Bogut.
May better than Bogut? How so? Sean May is a generous 6'9 player. He's been able to bully around college players, but he's not going to have the same success in the NBA. Not only are NBA players stronger and taller, they are also quicker.
Atlanta would be dumb to draft May as a PF is definately not one of their needs. Also with Childress and Smith, I think it would be wise for them to build a team geared to running, and pushing the ball. They need a PG or a Center more importantly.
^I would also love to draft an up and down point guard who can play decent defense and is willing o pass up the ball to Smith, Harrington or Childress on the break. But the relationship between Sean May's father and Woodson could be the deciding factor. Sean May is not the player for ATL, maybe someone like Chris Paul or even moving up in the draft is better.

He can score and rebound but I don't think he will be as succesful in the pros. I agreee that the pros are quicker stronger and taller. Bogut has the height to be a great center but right now I don't think he has a pro body. May is physically ready to make the jump to the pros. He isn't as tall as most centers but I think he is strong enough to contend. I think of May as a Karl Malone type of player. But we're comparing them against college centers, when we really have no idea of who will be a better pro. But any team that can draft these to big men are lucky.

He used his mass more to overpower other collegiate centers than strengh. NBA centers will be stronger and more conditioned than him and he won't have the same success at the NBA level. I disagree on comparing May as Karl Malone. Karl has one of the best bodies ever. Their game and type of body are very distinct.

Like I said in my previous post, we are just going to have to wait and see how they will do. We don't even know if May is going to declare this year. I wasn't comparing May's body to Malone's body, I was comparing their playing styles.

May isn't ready skill wise or physically.

But one thing I have seen May do before is run the floor if the Hawks want to be a team that pushes the ball on offense every chance they get then May isn't really a bad choice at all. As a matter of fact I really think May would be a better pick over Bogut if they wanted to be a run and gun type team. But in the end I still say the Hawks should draft Bogut and adjust to his style of play because he can play his position very well and that?s something the Hawks are truly missing from their team.

That is just my opinion, but we have no proof how any of the colligate centers would do against the pros.
That depends upon the fact if Sean May will declare for the draft. I mean he said numerous time that he considers staying. But then again after upping his stock a bunch in this years tourney. I mean the Hawks can use a PF and he will be playing lots of minutes if he declares, also thats the best way to develop, just play. The major thing that the management should be facing is turning Sean Mays fat tissue into muscle.
I hope Sean May stays in NC for another year cause I want the Hawks to draft Raymond Felton and next year they'll draft Sean May
