<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> From his vantage points on the Raptors bench and in front of the television, Alvin Williams has observed a team in turmoil.

Yesterday, in yet another blow to the reeling franchise, the injured point guard expressed his displeasure with many aspects of the Raptors in a wide-ranging interview. The longest-serving Raptor, whose future is uncertain after having season-ending microfracture surgery on his right knee in November, has issues with player behaviour, leadership and the constant roster upheaval.

"It's not good," the well-respected Williams said. "It's not a good situation right now."

Without naming names, Williams seemed to be aiming some of his criticism at swingman Jalen Rose and point guard Rafer Alston. Those two lashed out at each other in the media last week, though Rose made a hard-to-believe claim that he wasn't directing his comments at Alston. Rose did not name Alston in his rant. "You see what I see," Williams, 30, said. "You saw the Charlotte game (last Friday when Rose and Alston basically refused to pass the ball to each other), I saw the Charlotte game, everyone saw that game. That typified everything."</div> Source

I can't say that I disagree with anything that Alvin has said in the interview. Since Charles Oakley left the Raptors, there has not been a definite leader in the Raptors locker room at all.

I can just hope that Alvin builds himself up to being able to play on a consistent basis next season. As much as we need him as a player, we need him more as a leader.

If Alvin will play as good as he did two seasons ago next year, I don't see why he doesn't start over Alston. Alvin might not be a pass-first PG like Jason Kidd or Brevin Knight, but he knows when to pass and when to shoot and when not to. Williams shoots only when he's open or when the shot clock is winding down, and he does a better job with turnovers than Alston. It'll be a huge boost to have him back for sure.

IMO alvin is 100% right, I think in the off-season, geting someone like Oakley should be something that has to be addressed. And we really need alvin right now, he'll be a big boost to the locker room and on the floor.

A leader is more important than a good draft imo...ok maybe not but you get the idea. Jalen thinks he is a good leader but he puts his teammates on blast after a game. i have never heard a 'true' leader say that before. Jack and Eric and Leo makes it so clear when they say you cant embarass teammates in public. o well, looks like we wont be making the playoffs for a lnog time....
