<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Arizona coach Lute Olson said Tuesday he now expects Hassan Adams to return next fall for his senior season, although Adams may still test himself in the NBA pre-draft camp. Olson said during his annual postseason media conference Tuesday that he, associate head coach Jim Rosborough and assistant coach Josh Pastner have checked with many NBA officials, all of whom suggested that Adams should return to school. "As of this point, I don't think Hassan will go,'' Olson said. "At the end of the season, I thought it was a done deal (that he would go) but it's not." Olson said the NBA scouts and officials he talked to said Adams needs more work on his perimeter skills. Adams played power forward as a sophomore in 2003-04 and struggled initially this season after moving to small forward. Although the similarly athletic Andre Iguodala jumped successfully to the NBA last summer as a sophomore, Iguodala is 4 inches taller than the 6-foot-4-inch Adams. Iguodala also improved his ballhandling and passing skills in his last season here. Adams was unavailable for comment Tuesday, but Olson said he met with Adams on Monday to pass along what he had learned. NBA officials "feel he made great progress in terms of perimeter play,'' Olson said. "They still feel he needs to handle the ball better, that he needs to develop a consistent outside shot and continue to work on his midrange game. They just don't feel he's ready yet. "He'd be taking a lot of chances, whereas a year from now he'd be of the top guys coming out.'' Rosborough said NBA officials "love'' Adams because of his athleticism, but want Adams to use it on the defensive side of the ball. "They want him to come into the league and be a lockdown defender," Rosborough said. "They've got people who can score. They need people who can defend every day." There is no risk to Adams if he submits his name to become eligible for the draft and does not hire an agent. In that case, players have until a week before the draft to opt out and return to school. Former UA guard Jason Gardner did just that after the 2001 season, and participated in the Chicago camp before deciding to return to Arizona for two more seasons. </div> Source Best UA early exits Andre Iguodala, Sophomore ● Ninth pick in 2004 NBA draft, a starter for 76ers this season Gilbert Arenas, Sophomore ● 31st pick in 2001 draft, now an All-star for the Wizards Richard Jefferson, Junior ● 13th pick in 2001 draft, played in 2003 NBA Finals with Nets Mike Bibby, Sophomore ● Second pick in 1998 draft, one of NBA's premier point guards
