    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">MIAMI ? The lineage is impressive.

Tim Hardaway. Glen Rice. Eddie Jones. Voshon Lenard. Dan Majerle. But today, Damon Jones stands alone.

With his first 3-pointer of Tuesday's game against the Bulls, Jones moved to the head of the Heat's single-season 3-pointer list. He entered tied with the record of 203 set by Hardaway in 1996-97.

"As a shooter, he's obviously been as good as anybody," said coach Stan Van Gundy, an assistant when Hardaway set his Heat record. "I mean, the number of makes he has at that high a percentage, he has shot the ball great.

"He's been as good as anybody we've ever had in a single season."

Jones hit his record-breaker with 10:37 to play in the first quarter. He pointed toward Hardaway's season-ticket location, but the former Heat guard, although in the building, was not in his seat at the time.</div> Source

He deserves that. I'm happy for him. I hope he wins that category not only for the HEAT but for the NBA as well to send a sign "You fools didn't invite me to Denver"

he definetly should have been invited to denver for the shootout. That was the worst decision in the 3 point shootout since inviting Antoine Walker (the words and Antoine Walker and accuracy just dont go together) He is top 5 in the NBA for 3 point attempts, makes, and percentage. How would they not even invite him? Great season by him, he is an amazing three point shooter. Now if he could only shoot as well from closer.......

Congrats. Jones has a nice shot, like to see him develop into a great scorer consistently in the next couple of seasons.

The question now is does he stay? He is obvious benefiting from his enviroment, and IMO, I cant see him contributing the way he does now for a different team. He can go for the riches, as others have gone in the past after benefiting from this organization, or he can stay for less and be able to play for the title the next few seasons. I hope he takes the latter part and contributes to this team cause I love him running the point for this team.

Nah he works so well in that set up, he benfits and teh heat benefit from the inside outside game big time. If they concentrate on Wade slashing or on Shaq in the center, it leaves alot more people open, namely the jones that get alot of looks cos of it. As Wade gets better so will Jones. Wade will always be the better of the 2, but Jones will combo perfectly with him.

You can't help but wonder if he would have broken the record if Shaq wasn't here.

No way he wouldve broken the record if Shaq hadnt been here...hes still a great shooter and deserves props for hitting his open shots and making a high percentage of his many attempts...

    Agreed.

Also, I think if Skip re-signed with us, he would have broken the record with Shaq in the middle as well.

its a possibility, although Skip is not as pure a shooter as DJ...plus DJ lives around the arc while Skip also has the ability to drive to the rim and penetrate...

all I said was Jones isnt near the penetrator that Skip was...Yes, Jones does drive here and there, but he mostly hangs around 24 feet from the basket so he can launch his 3...

Shaq must be a really good motivational speaker because every where he goes there is a okay shooter that turns into a killer and then disapears after after shaq leaves. I dont know how shaq boosts these guys confidence but he does an exellent job doing so. I give shaq half the credit.

^I don't think it has much to do with confidence....It's just that whenever shaq is on the floor they have to double him, sometimes triple, which has to result into open people on the court...and since shaq is a good passer, under the double, and in general, he hits the open people with the pass.

    It's not motivational speaking!

It's drawing 3 defender for DJ to take five dribbles, set up, have a drink of water, read a book and then take the shot.

I'm obviously exagerating, but Shaq presense on the court is why he is having so much success. DJ is still clutch and makes big shots. But the fact that he is wide open half the time is a great helper.
