<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">CLEVELAND - Like the fabled Little Dutch Boy, the Cavaliers have been plugging leaks in the proverbial dam with the promise of help.

But there is none on the way. Even with LeBron James and his preternatural legs, the deluge is on.

In what was supposed to be a vital game with playoff implications galore, the Cavaliers were stomped on their own floor 111-80 by the New Jersey Nets on Tuesday at Gund Arena. It was the second 31-point loss in the past three games, both at home.

The immediate consequence is that the loss, coupled with the Indiana Pacers' victory in New York on Tuesday, drops the Cavaliers (38-35) to the No. 7 spot in the Eastern Conference playoff standings. The long-term aftermath is the crushing loss handed the season series to the No. 9-seeded Nets, the team most likely to knock the Cavaliers completely out of the playoffs, a valuable tiebreaker.

After the game, ESPN.com reported that Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert is planning to fire team president and general manager Jim Paxson in the next 48 hours. Gilbert immediately issued a statement essentially saying that he would not comment on the report.

Paxson himself said he hadn't heard anything.

``Nothing has been said to me. I'm not going to go by an ESPN report,'' Paxson said. ``I approach my job the same way; all the speculation is the nature of my business. I'll do my job until I'm told I'm not doing it anymore.''</div> Source

Cavs might as well fire him now since he is not coming back next year. Why delay the inevitable?

I agree, its not as if he is doing anything now anyway. Part ways and be done with it.

If I knew I was going to be GM of the Cavs for another 48 hours, I'd waive the starting lineup and sign a random 50 year old off the street to the biggest contract and longest contract I can. [IMG]

In all realness, I don't think LeBron will be too happy with all these changes headed into the crucial stretch in the year. I know I wouldn't.

Rumor has it that LeBron will demand a trade if the Cavs miss the playoffs. He is upset over Silas being fired and lack of support around him.

Did you hear that one from the NY POST?

NY POST being the key word there. [IMG]
