One is the loneliest number, according to an old song by Three Dog Night. But according to Raptors coach Sam Mitchell, one is the number upon which a raw rookie like Pape Sow should concentrate.

"The problem with young guys is, they want to work on every (offensive) move," Mitchell said. "Just get one to start with. Make people have to defend one.

"It's something we have to ingrain in him, that you don't have to have the full arsenal right away."

Mitchell knows Sow, a 6-foot-10 centre/forward, is far more comfortable on the defensive end of the court than he is at the offensive end. So when Sow is seen working on a wide array of things during practices, Mitchell will step in and narrow the focus.

"We stop him and try to get him to concentrate on one thing," Mitchell said. "As a player you want to be complete and work on everything, and you do have to work on all aspects. But if he could get one go-to move, that would accelerate his progress a lot."

Hmm ... I like that, makes a lot of sense. It would be great if Pape had a go-to baby hook. After that he could work on his short jumper. After that he can work on his 3 point line 360 degree between the legs off the backboard dunk.

Pape Sow looks pretty good out there. At least one of our players besides from Mo can play great defence. As for offensively, he'll get there. He actually listens and works hard. I remember the Detroit game when he was doing the free-throws. He missed the first one with a terrible attempt, then Sam Mitchell called out to him from the bench telling him how to improve his free-throw. Then he nailed the next free-throw and the couple of FT attempts he took after that all went into the basket (except for one I think).

I can't wait to see him play more.

Nah man, that would be just a little too hard for him, hehe. Leave that move to Matt Bonner. [IMG]
