<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Players on the NBA?s best teams generally get the game?s spoils. So when the awards start rolling in late this month, expect the Suns ? who increasingly look like they?ll be able to claim No. 1 status at the end of the regular season (which is what the awards are based on ) ? to get their fair share.

Most prominently, Steve Nash may be locked in a battle with Miami?s Shaquille O?Neal for the NBA?s MVP award.

Nash?s addition has been a major reason the Suns are a title contender, and there?s a general feeling that Nash is one of the league?s good guys, somebody who represents the game well.

At the same time, there may be a nostalgia factor working for O?Neal, who has only won one MVP award in his career. Plus, media people may enjoy voting for Shaq to mock the Los Angeles Lakers, who traded him away for three role players.

In any case, Nash has said, "I feel I?ve won just by being mentioned."

Expanding on this idea, he said, "I?ve come a long way.

"I was unheralded out of high school; I had just one scholarship offer. And people had their doubts about me coming out of college. Coming from that situation, it?s rewarding (to be mentioned)."

Nash and Amar? Stoudemire should be strong candidates for first-team All-NBA status, with Stoudemire able to get votes either as a forward or a center.

There's a ton more votes for awards the Suns deserve, including Coach of the Year, All-Defense First Team (Marion), All-NBA First & Second Team (all 5 starters), and Definitely MVP for Nash.
