<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Lakers interim coach Frank Hamblen knew that former Lakers coach Phil Jackson watched Thursday night's game from owner Jerry Buss' box.

"I hope had to pay his way in," Hamblen joked.

Hamblen said Jackson watches a lot of games and probably is evaluating where he might want to coach next season, if Jackson does indeed coach.

"When I get back, I'm going to call and ask him what he thinks for the rest of the way about our guys," Hamblen said. "What we should do?"

What about hiring Jackson to be his assistant?

"His price tag is probably too high," Hamblen joked. "Love to have him around. On the bench, timeouts, practice."

Kobe Bryant was asked if fans might think because Jackson attended the game that he will be the Lakers next coach.

"Don't know," Bryant said. "At this point, it really doesn't matter to me...I don't want to get caught up speculation in what might happen next season or in the off season, because we still have a season to play here even though we're not going to the playoffs." </div> Source

Man, I hate when Kobe makes these kind of responses. Why can't he just say, "Don't know, but I would LOVE to have him back next year"? It sounds like he doesn't want Phil back next season. [IMG]

I'm mid way through the Last Season(the book that Phil Jackson wrote) , from what I see right now, I don't think Phil Jackson is # One on Kobe's list for the coaches taht he would want.

#1 is Larry Brown right now on Kobe's wish list. Getting Brown is going to take a lot of things to fall in place first. He has to leave Detroit for starters, and then he has to agree to coach the Lakers.

that's because kobe wants a coach that is inexperienced and lenient because, well, i guess he wants to coach the team. he also wants to be the gm and he wants to be the assistant coach too. he wants basically everything the lakers have. now i have been a good supporter of kobe before, but know that i really think about it, kobe's just a selfish spoiled brat that wants everything done his way. i mean, it's true if you really think about it.

Kobe knows that anything and everything he says will start a media frenzy.

He's just focusing on the task at hand, which is finishing out the season with some pride at least.

please....is brian grant's 11 mill contract not big enuf? lakers can just get a solid coach like flip saunders or even paul silas...when u have a great player in kobe , spend more money on the supporting cast rather than a coach....seriously.
