<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"><font face="Times"><font face="Verdana">Toronto Raptor Matt Bonner is known to fans simply as the "Red Rocket.''</font> </font> It's an apt moniker for a guy with red hair. But there's also the tie-in with the old Red Rocket streetcars, because Bonner actually walks or takes the TTC to get around town. Raised in Concord, N.H., the Raptor rookie has made the adjustment to life in Toronto, and become a popular fixture with local fans. He's a sharp cookie, a high school valedictorian, and a "distinguished graduate" of the University of Florida's business school. His mother is a teacher, his father a mailman in New Hampshire. He came to the Raptors this season after playing for the team's summer league entry the past two years, and spending last season playing ball for Sicilia in the Italian A1 League. The Red Rocket took some time to sit down with Unplugged and tell us about his remote control watch, why he's baffled by this country's love of curling, and why he loves Celtics great Larry Bird. How do you like the Red Rocket nickname? I like it. I was a Roger Clemens fan growing up watching the Red Sox, cheering for the Rocket (Clemens). So it has a nice ring to it. I also like the local connection (to the TTC). </div> Source I found myself laughing out loud when I read this interview. He's a pretty quirky guy with a good wit about him. A must read for Toronto fans.
Thats a funny interview . Remote control watch LOL! I was laughing all the way through it too. His answers are very funny! <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Shania or Celine? Neither. Avril (Lavigne).</div>
I totally relate with him in accordance to the curling thing. It's so embarrassing how everyone thinks we love this stupid sport. No offense to curling fans. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">What's been the bummer moment for you lately? Probably hearing Vince (Carter) and Tracy (McGrady) say (there were times they didn't try as hard as they could have). That's kind of a pet peeve of mine. You should work hard and give 100 per cent every time you step on the court. To hear someone admit publicly they didn't do that kind of bummed me out.</div> Love that one as well. You tell him, Matt!

So how has Matt Bonner done this year offense wise? He was a very solid player in his college days with Florida.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting UKOwnstheSEC:</div><div class="quote_post">So how has Matt Bonner done this year offense wise? I really liked the article. i knew he was smart but i didnt know he was valedictorian. good for him. i was running this year but lost... oh well. lol. It is a pretty funny article though, that was the funniest thing ive heard a raptor say "Getting mauled by a bear. I fear just walking somewhere and a bear jumping out from behind a tree and mauling me." haahaha man he has a sense of humour, but i can relate a lil.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting UKOwnstheSEC:</div><div class="quote_post">So how has Matt Bonner done this year offense wise? He has been shooting very consistently and for a long period of time led the NBA in FG% or was in second. lol it was a good interview. I was interested that his good friends on the team are Hoffa and Pape, I bet that he and Bosh get along well too. Damn, a remote watch , I doubt he'll use it in a bar though.

This is funny: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">What do you fear the most? Getting mauled by a bear. What does that stem from? I dunno, I just don't think there would be much you could do if that happened. I love this guy...whenever my friend and I watch the Raps, we refer to him as "white guy". Mainly because you can always recognize him and he's the only decent white player we've had for a very long time *directed at Hoffa*.
^Coincidentally I call almost every white guy I play bball with Matt Bonner. Just because he's the most significant white guy on the Raptors since.....ever.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting CourtVision:</div><div class="quote_post">^Coincidentally I call almost every white guy I play bball with Matt Bonner. Just because he's the most significant white guy on the Raptors since.....ever.</div> Second only to Robert Archibald.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting SkiptoMyLue11:</div><div class="quote_post">Words alone cannot describe Robert Archibald's greatness!!! </div> lmfao. Seriously though, I hope the Raptors re-sign Bonner. He's a top 3 mid-range jump shooter in the league.
