anyone going to see "Year of the Yao" ? The reviewer even says he is a Rockets fan! http://seanthemovieguy.com/_wsn/page5.html I tried to search if this was already posted but search isn't working for me... is it working for anyone else?
Yeah i'll be checking it out this weekend. It's limited release, but I'd be shocked if it doesn't open in Houston.
There already is such a thread, but it hasn't been posted in for a few months now so I'll let this stay. Anybody know if this will be a wide release or Houston-area only or is it just the US? I'd really want to see it but I'm not sure if it'll come to Canada.

I tried to search but everytime I put "year of the yao" in the search engine... it comes up to a "page cannot be displayed" is there something wrong with it? I hope it comes up here to Chicago.. I really want to see it too. I just moved up here from Houston. Chicago's doing good tho too... I root for the Bulls.. unless they are playing Houston.. but Houston seem to have the Bulls #.

The restaurant looked pretty nice..
Actually I do remember seeing a cardboard cutout of Yao last time I was at the movies, so I'm pretty sure it's opening at the theater near my house (Gulf Pointe AMC 30). I know from the radio that there was a sneak preview at Edwards Cinema, so if all else fails you can likely find it there this Friday. *I'm in Houston*

I lived on Scarsdale Blvd. right down the street from that AMC 30 (remember them building it) before I move up to Chicago.

What coincidences. However guys, please move this discussion to PMs and they aren't really productive to a basketball forum. Would be okay to talk about in a team lounge though, one that we don't have yet.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Colin Pine understood that being an interpreter for Yao Ming was a job, not a career. As Yao hones his English, Pine's third year at his side could be his last. But given the bond between Pine and Yao, it's hard to imagine them separated ? especially after seeing The Year of the Yao, a documentary on the Houston Rockets center's first NBA year. Opening in Houston Friday and nationwide April 29, The Year of the Yao covers the culture shock, media glare and whirlwind of superstardom that engulfed Yao after he became the NBA's No. 1 draft pick in 2002. It also becomes an old-style buddy picture, as trust and friendship grow between the 7-foot-6 Yao, whom some call "the gentle giant," and the 5-foot-9 1/2 Pine, whom some might call a bookish nerd. </div> <div align="center">Link</div> <font color="red">I edited your post. Saw the movie tonight and it was very well done. It really gave great insight into Yao's struggles adjusting to the whole culture change he had to go through. A nice mix of funny, triumphant, and touching moments. Again, it was a very well done movie which I can highly recommend, especially to Rocket/Yao fans.
