Kansas City Star reporter Elizabeth Merrill reports free agent wide receiver Az-Zahir Hakim has reached an oral agreement with the Kansas City Chiefs. He is expected to attend Chiefs Minicamp next week. Advertisment In addition to visiting the Chiefs, Hakim visited the New Orleans Saints and was reportedly offered a contract. A source said that Hakim was attracted to the Chiefs because he wanted to play for Vermeil again. Hakim played the last four seasons for the Detroit Lions. Prior to that, he played his first four NFL seasons for the St. Louis Rams and was on Dick Vermeil?s Super Bowl champion team. Hakim caught 31 passes for 533 yards and had 3 touchdowns for the Lions last season but was cut after they drafted Mike Williams. Looks like they wont need to sign Mitchell luckily.
I do have good news on the mitchell front. He has been offered a job in the ny area. You wont be able to recognize him by anything but his voice, but it will sound like "Do you want fries with that?" Just kidding, I am sure he will sign, with an arena team or CFL

The Raider love to bring in bigmouths and Drugged out guys, Mitchell would fit in perfect there, but he still would only cath about 10 Balls a Year especially with Randy Moss and Porter there.

I am not surprised Hakim wound up in KC. It reunites him w/ Vermeil & Al Saunders (Cheifs O Coord & former Rams WR coach).
Another great chance to hear Chris Berman say... "Ah... Ah... Ah... Az Hakim!" during Sunday NFL Primetime!

Saints indeed. With A. Hakim, N. Poole and D. Henderson battling for the third spot, it should bring out the best in any of these players.
Just to clarify, Mitchell signed with the Chiefs... <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Chiefs agree to one-year deal with Freddie Mitchell The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with free agent WR Freddie Mitchell. No further terms of the agreement were made available. Mitchell played in 63 games in four seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. He recorded 90 receptions for 1,263 yards with five touchdowns. He was a former first round draft pick of the Eagles.</div>
