I can't wait to see how these guys come back next season. Hopefully they bust their butts and work on their weaknesses. If Jrich can work on his 1 on 1 defense and ball handling skills, we should have the top backcourt in the league hands down. Murphy needs to get healthy and concentrate on getting the spring back in his step. I'm not sure that Foyle can really improve much more, soft hands is something that you just can't teach. Dunleavy needs to put on another 10-15 pounds and bust his butt getting some lateral movement. Ditto for Beidrins. This kid needs to live in the weight room and big man camps the entire off-season. If Air France can stay healthy this offseason and concentrate on watching film, he should be fierce. Zarko should be working on getting quicker and stronger, what can you say about a guy who's been averaging over 70% from the field this month.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting CohanHater:</div><div class="quote_post">side note: nbadraft.net has the Knicks taking Tiago Splitter, how many Power forwards can one team have?</div> Their not taking team needs into account. Things will come into picture when players start their workouts.
Davis: First, get healthy and be in shape, so that he can stay healthy throughout the season. Second, I hope he learns each players' strength and involve entire team. There is no question that Davis is no. 1 option. However, if Davis shoots too much, other teammates won't expect to receive the ball when they are in offense, and that will eventually kill the team's productivity. I always think PG shouldn't shoot more than 20 shots per game, and liked Davis' earlier floor game more than his later floor game. Richardson: Now, he really needs to practice his dribble, and maybe he can learn a thing or two from Davis. Before Davis' arrival, Richardson can hold the ball and wait until right opportunity comes for him to score. Now, since Davis controls the ball most of times, Richardson lost the luxury of holding the ball most of the times. He usually receives the ball from Davis for 3 pts, midrange jumper or dunk. If he wants to create his own shot now and become more than Finley for his future, he needs to learn how to penetrate and break down defense. Dunleavy: He is good at being a glue guy and pick a right spot for scoring. In other word, if right situation doesn't come, he can be ineffective. In order for him to take next step, he needs to learn how to create his own opportunity somehow. And, hopefully, he can be stronger. Murphy: I just don't see him developing an effective post up move. So, I won't wish for that. But, I really wish him to be more effective jump shooter. For some reason, he just wasn't on in terms of jump shot throughout the season. Also, improving 3 pts would be nice as well. Can he be stronger without hurting his body frame? Foyle: Get into the shape and play like you played later season. And, just don't start the season like this season. Fisher: Never try to create off the dribble. Pietrus: He still doesn't have that much clue, but that didn't stop him from very effective player. Also, he is Davis' favorite tool to use. So, if he can somehow improve his basketball IQ, that would be fantastic. Other than that, I hope he can develop a reliable midrange game, so that he doesn't have to go 0-6 once in a while. Zarko: Frankly, I don't know what more to expect from Zarko. He is shooting above 50% this season, including above 70% in this month, yet he can't get a min. Maybe, he needs to bribe Monty, wash his van, vaccum his carpet or do something, so that Monty can't forget about him. He can be an automatic 3 pts shooter as well. Can he be a better defender somehow? Biedrins: Well, get stronger, work on FT, develop some sort of post up moves, avoid fouls, and so on. He still has long way to go. Mullin: Give us a strong big man, who can defend.
I read an article about the future of this team. http://forums.warriorsworld.net/main/msgs/858220.phtml The article was written by someone by nbadraft.net and I agree with most of the article. We're 12 million over the cap and we're going to resign Dunleavy but we haven't addressed any of our main issues like rebounding and help defense? Murphy is producing consistent #'s but that guy does damage as well. His atrocious defense, poor shooting % and ability to finish at the rim are frustrating. Getting in the way of people trying to get open looks are inexcusable. It brings another defender which usually ruins the play. He's not a selfish player but he's got to understand that he's not going to be involved in every play. Clear out and set some screens. I'm suprised he even averages double digit boards, he rarely boxes out. If he did we would get at least 15 a game. Dunleavy can do a little of everything. He makes smart plays and has been more agressive but the reason we're winning is because of Baron. Dunleavy is a nice complimentary player but he's just that, a complimentary player. How can we extend him? Don't even say Bird rights because I don't see Cohan going above 55 million. I don't blame him, this team should be a contender before he goes salary cap crazy. The kid can't D up the way we need him to and it's hard to blame him playing with Murph and Foyle but he's 6'9 and gets abused in the post. He doesn't box out, the strength isn't there. If we didn't have Foyle + Murphy's deals and we had some big men I would say keep Dun but there's no way I see us extending him now, especially with a Trade exception, top 10 draft pick and the fact we're in desperate need of frontcourt help. Foyle, LOL, where to start....In 8 years this guy still tries to block everything. When is he going to realize position is the most important thing? He will never figure out when to help and when to box out and wait for the board. He has horrible hands. He's not a starting center, he's just bad... Wow, what a frontline Dunleavy, Murphy and Foyle. No athleticism. Athleticism isn't everything but this frontline is abused on a nightly basis. Let's face it, the reason we won 8 in a row is because of Baron. He made all these guys better but he can't turn these guys into something their not. Some of those 3 guys stepped up during that 8 game winning streak but so can other players that fit the team needs, especially when their spoon fed open looks. Really try to think about it, that frontline squad is terrible. Those players individually aren't terrible but none of those players compliment eachother. Why do you think those three are never on the floor at the end of games? I see Murph staying and Dunleavy gone and eventually Foyle & Fisher. Murph has the shot, rebounding and size. Pair him with a good defender and help defender @ SF things may look better.
We still don't know what the CBA will be like, USDS. It's tough when Murphy and Jrich asked for those big contracts and then we added on Baron Davis's new contract. Next few years all those contracts grow in size in X% increments together. But hey at least they lead the league in meaningful stats. I wouldn't be sad if we didn't re-sign Dunleavy, but I wouldn't be happy either. Fisher and Foyle have been big on some nights, but hey so have Dale Davis and Dan Dickau. How valuable is our depth I wonder? How bad do we need that starting lockdown defender. Cant' really play Pietrus or Jrich at forward for very long unless they get owned by 6'8, 235 lb forwards. Niether Fisher nor Foyle are consistently solid and they have some steep contracts that indicate they should be starting if you didn't know better. They can be huge some games. Some games, but they can't help carry a team if their future is the bench.
The W's were in good shape, which is why they had few injuries and were able to play up tempo at seasons end. Dunleavy shoulsd get stronger but can't lose any quickness. Foyle can't become Magic Johnson, but there are drills athletes in various sports use to improve their hands. Murphy was a big scorer in College and ought to have some idea of how to shoot a hook shot, use the glass, fake someone out. Z has good instincts, like Dunleavy, and while getting more power and bulk would help,if it's a trade off,and he's slower, the result could be no gain. Pietrus and Biedrens in particular need to know better how to read how refs call the game. Part of the NBA game is that everybody commits a dozen or more fouls BUT some are better at getting away with it-or setting up an opponent to get called. All refs have their basic profile...and some deviate from their usual pattern at times...even to the extent where there is just no way to explain the whistles. I think that is real confusing to a young player trying to balance restraint and intensity. Everyone needs to shoot a few more 3's in practice and a few less in games. Having this nucleus togather,I think the W's will work on a team oriented Defense plan, something that given the roster changes, new coach, etc. Couldn't get done earlier and is hard to put togather in-season.
That's a good article. Although, even I, one of the biggest Mullin critic, wouldn't give Mullin D+, there is no question that Mullin's future will be hampered by his spending in this offseason. Yeah, I pretty much agree with USDS. We have a problem in our front court, and it's a very tough puzzle to solve. It's tough to trade either Foyle or Murphy. There is no question that they are overpaid, and we would like to see some sort of upgrade. But, the problem is that if we lose them, we will sorely miss them. So, if you want to replace them, you better have a back up plan for them, or we will pretty much be screwed. Ideally, we would like to keep them, while adding other players, who can compliment them, but with our salary structure, it's very tough to do, unless we go to the draft route. Besides, even if we have all the freedom, getting a quality center is just impossible in these days. So, unless we hit the lottory, we probably won't trade Foyle, and I am ready to live with his contract. In other hand, Murphy may be bit easier to swap, because he is putting a quality numbers. And, here is Dunleavy. Like USDS said, he is a very good luxury to have. He picks his spot, doesn't force the issue, and minimize his mistakes. But, luxury is luxury after all, and when your budget gets tightened, you just can't afford to have luxury. Pietrus can be just effective, although different kind, and he and Davis really worked well each other. And, Zarko can replace what Dunleavy has done. I mean, this kid is shooting 79% in April, yet he can't average 15 mins! Don't get me wrong. My view of Dunleavy changed a lot in this year like many fans. But, all aspects points out that we just can't afford to sign Dunleavy. However, big problem is that Mullin loves him. He loves Dunleavy so much that he was willing to trade Jamison for nothing, and even change the coach, which compliment Dunleavy's game, or so we thought. Will Mullin end his lovefest toward Dunleavy and look at the reality? Will he give Pietrus a finger and stick with Dunleavy? Or, will he just give Dunleavy a big payday and roll with it? Well, we will see what Mullin can do in coming offseason and the offseason after 06 season. So far, he got big fat F on offseason and big fat A on trading deadline. Easiest, and probably the second worst road (worst being Mullin giving Dunleavy an extension or trade Pietrus instead of Dunleavy) Mullin can take is not doing anything, and saying 'this team rolled at the end of last season, so I won't touch it'. And, frankly, it would be very hard for Mullin to tear out some of pieces and try to fix the hole, since we played so well with Davis so far, and if we start out with poor start, people will blame Mullin for the offseason. But, if Mullin intends to fix the hole, this offseason may be the best time to do so. Because, we have some good rookie contracts to play with including picks. And, if Mullin decides to fix the hole, I will stand behind his decision no matter what happens in the future, because he recognize the situation and try to improve the club, despite the risk...
http://www.hoopshype.com/salaries.htm Next year we'll be @ 55 million after JRich and Murphy's extensions kick in. On the bright side of our center crisis, Baron Davis mentioned this regarding Beans: `He's the baby-faced giant,'' Warriors point guard Baron Davis said. ``He's going to be one of the top 10 centers in this league. It's just a matter of time.'' That's a big endorsement from Baron. http://forums.warriorsworld.net/main/msgs/858783.phtml (Read the article, it shows how well liked Andris is) If he adds more strength and post moves, looks like we may already have our center. We may not have to draft strictly center and go for BAP in the draft. That means Taft, Green, Sabonis kid, Felton, Splitter or even trading the pick.
Trade Dunleavy, Troy Murphy, Derek Fisher, and a 1st Round Selection for Elton Brand and your troubles are over...lol
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting jzblaze:</div><div class="quote_post">question, how many NBA teams pay luxury tax? And where are the Warriors in comparison to them?</div> Well, luxury tax line will be decided depends on the league's revenue and expense at the end of the season, so it's hard to tell who pays and who will not at this point. Also, if league's expense goes down below certain line, entire league becomes luxury tax free, like last year, although it's almost certain that luxury tax will be kicked in this season. Generally, it's believed that the line will be drawn in between high 50 mils to low 60 mils, so at this point, we are safe this year and probably next year. But, after that, we will probably have to deal with luxury tax, especially if we are thinking about signing our own FAs. It's essentially a fool's proof for owners. Because, since hard cap is removed, owners need a new weapons to prevent the league becomes like a baseball. That's why I don't expect the luxury tax to be gone, because players aren't exactly complaining about it, and owners want to keep it. And, best/worst thing about this is that nobody knows where exactly the line will be drawn, so it's hard to make an pin point plan to avoid luxury tax. That's why owners want to lower their payroll as much as possible, in order to avoid possible luxury tax. You probably are aware that teams will pay dollar-to-dollar tax, if they go across the luxury tax line. Then, you probably wonder 'what's wrong with going over a mil or two? You will just pay one extra mil to keep a key player. Why do owners try to get away from luxury tax line as much as they can?'. But, the problem is that if you go over the luxury tax line, you will also miss out league's rebate. I don't know the exact numbers, but AFAIK, if you go over like 5 mils, you will miss out entire potion of rebate, which can be like 5-10 mils...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting King James X3:</div><div class="quote_post">Trade Dunleavy, Troy Murphy, Derek Fisher, and a 1st Round Selection for Elton Brand and your troubles are over...lol</div> Heh, where do I sign?
although there's been more optimism now than I can remember, there's just a lot of ways that this can still turn out bad. Mully absolutely has to make the right decisions now.
I wonder if there's a way we can get James Posey. The guy basically did jack this year, so maybe the Grizz might be willing to part with him. Dunleavy, Fisher for Posey... and... crap. I think based on their contract sizes we'd have to take on Brian Cardinal's fat deal, which totally undermines the whole cutting down on cap space. Besides, with Memphis, Fisher doesn't really have an attractive game for what they're trying to do. The teams most interested in Fisher probably are desperate for shooting. I mean look at us. Who is the best shooter on the team?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Kwan1031:</div><div class="quote_post">Heh, where do I sign?</div> Hey you never know with the clippers, kind of like us when St. Jean pulled the trigger on some trades.
E Brand's final year at Duke-17.7pt,9.8rbd,2.2blocks,62%FG S Williams this year at Duke 15.5pt,11.2 rbd,3.8 blocks,58.2% Fg Brand had the scoring edge,Sheldon has a good lead in RBD and blocks-Sheldon is 1"taller,currently Elton weighs 10-15lb more-Elton was the top pick when drafted,Sheldon will go cheaper if he declares this year. I Think that as both played for Duke, are both widebody types the comparison is legit-so get Sheldon, keep Murph, maybe Dunleavy, maybe Fish, depending on the Market. For what it's worth Diogu was a 20-10 guy at least, but I gotta crash,it's late
