7'9 [IMG] That's crazy. Thats like 2'3 taller than me, lol. And dunking without jumping? Crazy. If I was the GM of any team I would definitely pick him in the draft with his height and weight. He's almost has the weight of Shaq if I'm not wrong. If he beefs up, he'll definitely be someone to reckon with even with his poor mobility when he's healthy. I can imagine him posting 40+ points with 30+ rebounds and winning MVP [IMG] Maybe I'm just thinking too much with that big guy and his "toy rubber ball".

It's gonna be like a a dult playing with biddy-ballers. This guy looks insane I would definitely draft him with whatever pick I got. I would even trade Jamison to get a better chance at picking him.

That's a freak! I mean he would die on the court at the age of 23.
How tall was the tallest human ever? Like 8'1 and he died at 25 or 27 and din't play basketball.
He's gonna be a little better than Manute Bol cause he ain't that slim.

While I've yet to read or hear anything outside of this thread about Sun, I don't think top 10 sounds realistic at this point, and I would definitely not trade Jamison for him. Kids like Sun usually have major health problems down the road that scare NBA teams away from them. Also, you never know if these kids can actually play. Most of these 7-0'ers are just kids who didn't start playing basketball until later on in life. Even guys who do have some skills and are 7-5 or taller don't always make it in the NBA. Pavel Podkolzine (7-5) was a late first rounder this year and is now riding the pine in Dallas. Shagari Alleyne (7-5) is getting a great basketball education at the University of Kenctuky but is still projected as a late first rounder to early second rounder in the future. Then there are kids like Slavko Vranes (7-6) or Jaber Rouzbahani (7-6) who are second rounders or not even drafted because while they're very tall, they don't have much history playing basketball. You can even go as far back as the 80's to see that height doesn't always intrigue NBA scouts. Yasutaka Okayama of Japan was only a tenth rounder in 1981 despite being 7-8. With all of that said, I can definitely see this kid going in the first round in the future based on his height, but the top ten might be looking like a stretch. If I was personally given a choice between Sean May and Sun with the limited information that we have about Sun now, I'd most likely take Sean May, despite being a whole foot smaller.

The tallers man ever was Robert Wadlow and he was 8'11" 490 and died at the age of 22. If this played basketball he could do the Vince Carter elbow dunk without leaving the ground, thats just insane. Crazy thing is he died of a foot infection cause by a blister. I guess they didnt have the medical thechnology that we have now.

Anyways being tall doesnt really cause early death. It can cause a person to get injured alot easier tho.

Well, the reasons that a lot of these players are so tall may be because of certain dissorders. For example, Pavel Podkolzine has acromegaly, a disorder where your pituaitary gland produces excess growth hormone. They didn't find this out until before the draft either, so Sun could have similar problems.

I wonder how many times he is going to be able to take his butt up and down the floor every night in the fast pace of the NBA. Heck Yao can hardly make it the whole night.

With those hands, he would be the worst free throw shooter of all time. He would have to shot put every shot.

EDIT: and after actually reading it, he supposedly has a good jump shot. IDK, that seems rather hard

I just re-read that sentence over and over a couple times... It's kinda hard for me to comprehend that this kid is a foot taller than May... A foot!?! And Sean May is a pretty big guy too...

Man if Sun has any basic basketball skills, he should be putting up 20/10 easily. Like everybody said, his problem would be what all big men's problems are: Stamina and health. You really don't need that much skills with that height... It'd be scary as hell though if he can actually play ball.... Imagine a 7'9 guy that can ball.....

PS: I really hope he watch his head when he goes up for a rebound/dunk.... His head is only THREE inches under the rim... so he'd have to duck when he walks under the basket so he won't hit the backboard..???

How is his head three inches under the rim? 10 feet - 7 feet 9 inches = 2 feet 3 inches between his head and the rim.

It is impossible for you to be a scrub when you're 7'9. If I was 7'9, I'd be definitely average at least 20/20 [IMG]

Thats amazing, 7-9. I kno there is a guy over 8 ft in pakistan but the country is too poor and all so nothing happens.
Man, this sucks. I am a rockets fan and looks like yao is gonna loose the stage. Luckily, it sounds like this guy is really weak right now. He should have trouble getting the boards condsidering how yao, 7-6, cant put up 9 boards. But Sun will still be deadly, he has a nice outside shot too apparentley. is he a secret lab project or somethin, cause i have never heard of him and he sounds really amazing. I mean, espn never mentioned him.

I dont think so. These tall guys usualy have weak knees and cant jump very high. And because they are so skinny and fragile, they usualy arent that agressive (ie Yao Ming)

Yao Ming was considered a good all-around basketball player (to go along with his size) before he was drafted. It seems like all this guy has going for him is size and an outside shot. Is he a good shot-blocker? Does he dominate on the boards? Can he play more than 20 minutes a game? They don't say.

I live in Beijing and most guys here are short, but 6 foot plus guys are more common than you?d think. When you have 1.3 billion people there is a lot of room for extreme statistical deviation.

The law of diminishing returns probably applies here. As a person gets taller past a certain point they get slower, less agile and their center of gravity rises. I don?t think that Shaq would be a better player if he magically grew 8 inches.

Exactly. These question marks combined with possible health issues would be the reason why I wouldn't even consider him for a top ten pick no matter what his workouts are like. I'd probably pick him in the mid to late first round, but you don't want to pass up on Chris Taft or Gerald Green for a guy who could end up being a complete stiff and liability.
