It is impossible to suck being 7'9, I hope the Knicks can get him and Aguirre turns him into a Monster that he is capable of becoming.
Imagine Kidd throwing him lobs, it's not a pretty sight compared to other recipients of lobs..but it would be easy. Considering of course that he can even go down on offense after "jumping" for a defensive board. he might be too winded after grabbing a board.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting JWohl:</div><div class="quote_post">How is his head three inches under the rim? 10 feet - 7 feet 9 inches = 2 feet 3 inches between his head and the rim.</div> I must've been drunk or something. Forgive me. Anyways, still though, his head's gonna be real close to the backboard..
Damn! I don't reckon he'd be as feeble as yao, looking at his picture, he seems to have a far more sturdy frame. And dunking without jumping, thats ridiculous!
Has anybody seen a mock draft that mentions him yet? I haven't and I really hope he will play in the NBA.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Ming637:</div><div class="quote_post">Has anybody seen a mock draft that mentions him yet? I haven't and I really hope he will play in the NBA.</div> Odds are against it. Even the article mentions that Ming hopes to be drafted, and I guess this article has been his greatest exposure. Cleverly, they only mentioned his shooting touch and improvement in conditioning. How good is his post defense? Shotblocking? Inside moves? Does he have passing abilities of Yao Ming? All the evaluation we have of Sun are from a fringe NBA ex-player. Teams are probably going to bring him in for workouts as a potential second rounder, but I highly doubt that he'd impress in these workouts. After all, he isn't even good enough to play for the Chinese National team. Compare that to Yao Ming who became the starting center for the Chinese at age 18, and you could see the huge skill difference.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Teams are probably going to bring him in for workouts as a potential second rounder, but I highly doubt that he'd impress in these workouts.</div> You have to believe that some teams will give him first round (maybe even lottery) consideration. While I'm sceptacle myself, teams have to be impressed by his height. It's easy to say that he'll turn into the next Shawn Bradley, but this kid is even taller than Bradley. The NBA's never seen size like this before, and I'm sure some team in the first round will want to experiment.
Attention: If anything I said before was mentioned, I'm sorry. I didnt read every response. This is really just the classic "potential vs. actual skill" debate. Lets use this experiment. You are a GM. You draft this guy who is 7 foot 9 over, lets say for the sake of the debate, Sean May. May has proven himself on the biggest stage south of the NBA border, and has the size to bang in the league. But you take the potential over him, and you get Sun Ming. He has some monster games in this first season, but then injures his knees, and never plays more than 20 minutes for the rest of his career. A Typical bust. As you watch this 7 foot 9 giant ride the pine you watch Sean May turn into the second coming of Elton Brand, putting up 20 and 10 and making you look stupid. The fans never forgive you. Or it could happen vise-versa. You draft May who turns into a dependable 15pt-8rb guy while Sun Ming, with some skill-building, turns into a monster that the NBA hasn't seen before. What would you do?

If he does have that much potential and game, why won't he be getting all sort of press, instead of hoping to be drafted?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Trip:</div><div class="quote_post">I highly doubt he'll even get picked. Why isn't he on the cover of Sports Illustrated? However, some of these guys are just very well kept secrets. Just as you highly doubt he'll even be picked, I highly doubt someone would pass up on a 7-9 Sun Ming Ming for a 6-7 Jason Maxiell.
Found another article on Sun Ming Ming... <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">You know that someone must be really tall when the mention of China's Sun Ming Ming gets the attention of 7-foot-3 Ha Seung Jin and 7-foot Joel Przybilla. Sun, thought to be 19 years old, reportedly is 7-83/4 and weighs 350 pounds. </div> Source This article says he's only 19.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Sun is working out in Greensboro, N.C., and though NBA teams have inquired about him, it's unlikely he will enter the draft this year. The word is, he's not ready for the NBA and needs to increase his strength. </div>Seems like he won't enter this year? Smart choice, as he's most likely not ready and would have to sit on NBA benchs anyways. Why not play overseas and up your draft stock?
The next Mark Eaton? Man I guess if his country has like over a billion people living in it there's bound to be some huge freakishly tall people in there.
I`m not sure, but does the NBA have a height limit? I mean players like these would just dominate the game and almost kill the fun of it...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting InNETSweTrust:</div><div class="quote_post">I don't think he'll dominate the game. He'll be a freak show at most.</div> I think Shaq will crush this kid just like he does Yao Ming. PPB
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting PPB8881:</div><div class="quote_post">I think Shaq will crush this kid just like he does Yao Ming. PPB</div> I dislike ignorance. When has Shaq crushed Yao Ming? More often than not, Yao actually outdoes Shaq stat-wise, and also has more wins throughout their career meetings.
