re boy lotsa Nets fans suddenly in here. Don't worry guys we'll show you up next time. Seeya'll in the golf course cuz u ain't gonna make the playoffs anyway. As for the booing, well it just goes to show that Toronto fans aren't gonna let bums who don't play hard off the hook so easily. We'll keep reminding him for years to come. I'll just laugh my ass off when Vince starts pouting again the moment JKidd leaves him and his mom on their @sses in the swamp land. Remember, the Nets are in the honeymoon phase. Wait till the divorce a few years later.
To All Nets Fans: Before you blame us for booing Carter, let me put to you this scenario: Imagine next season, your beloved Jason Kidd demands a trade. When the season starts, he starts slacking off, stops playing defence, stands around, shoots from half court when he gets the ball, and his average goes down to 10ppg and 4 asg shooting 30 percent. And ur Rob can only now trade him for 3 bench warmers and two 2 second round picks. (Number 20+ picks are second round as far as im concerned). And your franchise regresses 10 years. How would u receive Jason Kidd in his first game back?
Bosh might not be the superstar or have the talent that Vince does but at least we know that every single game he is leaving his heart out there on the court for the Raptors. Can't say the same about Vince.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Raps:</div><div class="quote_post">When was the last "great" player picked on a number 20+ draft pick? Thanx Peddie, Thanx Babcock!</div> What does that mean?!? Alot of players actually, but why do you ask? both the picks the Raps got will likely be below 20. I'm getting tired of people crapping on the vince trade, saying we got ripped. those picks could be huge, and regardless, vince had no value and it was getting worse, EVERYONE was calling for Babcock to trade before it was to late.
Toronto is a bitter place. u cant blame vc for leaving he put his heart in soul in that team for years and management never put tuff players around him. And then to trade him was the dumbest move second only to the lakers trading shaq!
^^ Boy, I'll tell you why Toronto is bitter: 1. Toronto praised and supported Vince his entire career here, even going so far as to institute a Vince Carter day. We gave him the benefit of the doubt when he got injured but he got injured over and over and over again. When he got an ankle sparin once, he sat out while Chris Bosh who also got a much more sever ankle sprain played it out. Guess you have to be in Canada to get a sense of his hilarious injury act. 2. VC signs a 6 year max money contract. What has he done since then? He gets injured in each of the last 3 years and has never played a full season after that signing. In addition to that, so many of the games he played here he played half-heartedly. In fact, it was so obvious it hurt, and he himself admitted that he was dogging it. So, in terms of effort, there was no return on investment. Imagine that, Toronto came from expecting big things in the playoffs to just hoping that Vince would play hard every night. WTF is that? Every time we give him the benefit of the doubt, but he clearly took advantage of it without a care in the world. 3. Vince asks management to re-sign its core players which it does. MLSE resigns AD, AW, JYD then signs Hakeem. Later at Vince's prodding, we sign Milt. Result: AD leaves because he doesn't think his kids should learn the metric system, JYD is out of the yard, Hakeem gets injured and we pay him good money while he doesn't play, AW doesn't have anymore knees partly because he played his heart out while Vince was dancing on stage with Nelly. And because we lost lotsa cap space by signing those players, we don't have any wiggle room to get other stars to join Vince. 4. He dabbles in management issues by suggesting Dr. J as genereal manager when the doctor doesn'y have any credentials to be one. And it's obvious with 4. that Vince isn't a very intelligent GM himself. 5. He plays like crap in the beginning of the season, obviously not giving Sam Mitchell a chance to steer the team in the right direction. Result: We lose games that would have given us a chance at the playoffs and we get terrible trade terms. And don't tell me that NJ is a more talented team overall than the Raps. So you see, there is a lot to be bitter about. A lot of basketball fans just don't get to see Vince as much as fans in Canada. Any Toronto fan knows how Vince, a max money franchise player who is not a leader and needs motivation from veterans and his mom to play well, played haphazardly while not injured and looked disinterested most of the time. Toronto doesn't boo players who play as true professionals and who show heart and passion. There's a lot of blame to go around with Vince and the organization, but Vince has to carry at least half of that blame. So he deserves all the boos he gets.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting og15:</div><div class="quote_post">Was it? Like how they were chanting when we were shooting free throws and made us miss? The chanting kinda died down in the 2nd half because it's hard to be screaming VC Sucks etc when he's killing us and scoring at will...</div> Amen. Listen to me, at some point during the game, I felt kind of emberrassed to be there as a Raptor fan. I cheered for every play by the Raptors, but to see the stupid puckheads screaming and chanting "VC Sucks" while he's on the bench is absolutly ridiculous!! Or when Milt is shooting free throws, like the last thing we need is to scream loud when Palacio is shooting, he's already terrible. Ok, yes, he demanded a trade, and didn't push himself as hard as he could for this team, but come on now, people have really got to reorder their priorities in life. It irritates me to no end when I found out that most of the people booing in my row are a result of media hype and Vince bashing, boo at the introdutions or when he's at the free throw line, but when he's lighting you up for 39, and 17 points in the 3rd quorter, you should shut the f--k up!!
i see a raptors/nets rivalry building. The fans shouldn't be chanting "VC Sucks" when he's scoring 30 plus points a game. After that completely embarrassing display of unsportsmanship by Raptors fans, I'm now glad to say that I'm a VC fan. No one deserves to be wished injuries on them. No one deserves that booing and jeering at the ACC. Whoever said Canadians were nice? Pssht. Toronto's probably the only city in the NBA that would ever do that to someone. People are acting like he's planted a frigging bomb in the city. Sure he didn't play his hardest in Toronto, but what player doesn't play his hardest nightly?? VC's the only one to admit it. And people do make mistakes. You've gotta give the guy credit for being the only player who would never bash the city or its fans for that. if it were gary payton or any other player they would never admit that they missed the city or that it felt like home here. oh yeah. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Carter made 15-of-26 shots en route to his 22nd 30-point game with the Nets. He capped his night by tearing up at mid-court at the conclusion of the game while hugging former teammate Jalen Rose. </div> http://www.nba.com/games/20050415/NJNTOR/recap.html so he was crying. i cant believe it. this just makes other players not want to come to TO because of the fear or leaving and being booed like vince was. wed be lucky if the rest of the NBA world doesnt think were just angry, bitter fans.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting j_a_d_e:</div><div class="quote_post">and to thnk ur favorite player is Vince Carter...</div> I think it's just a matter of not updating his profile. Therefore, he put VC as his favorite player when he was a Raptor but hasnt changed it due to his inactivity. LOOOOOOOL.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Good luck with Miami and Detroit in playoffs (if the Nets ever make it of course) Own3d </div> uh, atleast they are competing for something. I don't get how you can fault the Nets for competing for a playoff spot when THAT IS THE GOAL OF AN NBA season. You bitter Raptors fan sit here and say "they'll get knocked", so what if they do? Atleast they'll give it a shot. Nothing is certain. I guess you're so used to losing that when another team is sucessful and is in the pursuit of something other than a lottery pick, it burns you inside. I'm glad Vince dominanted this game and I'm glad the Nets won. The Toronto crowd deserved to get owned like that. Look, Vince was great for us from 1991 to mid-2002 and he struggled from 2002 to 2004. It kind of cancels each other out. I grew up watching him and I never thought I would see this day. Ever. For everything he has done for this city, and it's people, this is what he gets? Tracy was booed because he left Toronto but he didn't do half the things VC has done for this city, its community, our people. Oh man, I am really glad the Nets won tonight and Vince dropped 39. Raptors fans, I have realized, are the most ungrateful fans in the world. They don't seem to remember the positives, but focus on the negatives. Damn, you guys are bitter. I am a Raptors fan, first and foremost but I really wanted VC to blow up and drop 50, just to prove a point. Add some salt in the "wound" that was 50% created by the media. I don't fault VC for being traded or leaving the way he left. I blame Rob Babcock for making one of the stupidest trades (though he had no choice) and the Toronto media for trying to eat it's athletes' heart out based on what the american media was saying about them. You don't know what you have until it's gone. Ask Kobe about that, and ask the bitter Raptors fans all across the city and this board.
^agreed. what happened yesterday made toronto look like a pack of bitter fans who don't know how to appreciate players when they actually need to be appreciated. why do you think vince left? he was getting criticized too much. so its not actually his fault for leaving. he makes mistakes. and so does everyone. his just happened to be publicized and overexaggerated.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting og15:</div><div class="quote_post">Was it? Like how they were chanting when we were shooting free throws and made us miss?</div>Come on now, they didn't make you miss. My two cents on this: He deserved to get booed, he deserved to know that the Toronto fans don't have a bit of respect for anything he did for them. People worked hard for the money to buy Raptors tickets, and it probably doesn't feel good to know someone didn't work hard on the court for them. He can feel good about torching his old team, but Toronto was a big part of his life, and now it really means nothing. That WILL bother him when he goes to sleep at night. That is, if he has a conscience.
