Kobe Bryant, atleast at this point in their careers. Kobe is a better defender, and is someone you want to take that last shot. The real big problem i have with him is that he does not trust his teammates as much as he should, especially since he is their leader and lof course his questionable shot selection. Lebron has better court vision, he starts a fastbreak better than anyone else, but it's unfair to say he's a better rebounder, Kobe tends to stay outside while Lebron really go's in there to get that extra point(not to mention they're positions).

who will have a better career? at this pace it's safe to say Lebron, but that ain't the question. Right now it's still Kobe.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Kobe for sure. I'm gonna get beat by Cavs fans for saying this, but LeBron is overrated. He's overhyped. Everyone already calls him "King James" and "The Chosen One" and he hasn't even done anything THAT special yet. The only reason why he dropped 56 pts. against the Raps earlier this season is because they intended to. Their plan was to let LBJ score all the points and shut down the rest of them. There's even an article somewhere on it.

Plus Kobe is a way better dunker. [IMG]</div>

I feel you. it's not fair for everyone to compare him to Jordan just yet, but i wouldn't go as far as sayiong he's overrated. If there is something that is overrated with Lebron it's probably his dunking but i can't complain about anything else.

    LeBron for me
Skill wise Kobe has more skills now but years to come when Lebron reaches Kobe's age I think LeBron will be unstoppable.

It's tough but right now I'd like to go with Kobe since he has more experience and what not. Switch them rosters and I think Kobe would thrive in the East with Big Z and Gooden. I'm not saying the Cleveland collapse is entirely LB's fault, but since he's who the team's built around, he should get the majority of the blame just like many people blame Kobe and Garnett for thier team's failures.

Eventually, Lebron will surpass him as a better player in every aspect but once and if Kobe learns to trust his teammates, I don't think his TEAM can't be stopped (considering they build around him wisely) that easily.
I could also say the same thing for Lebron though so its tough.
But the Kobe supporter in me is screamin Kobe so that's my choice.
Like shape said, its just a matter of preference.

You can say Lebron makes his teammates better but Lebron can't even make it to the playoffs in the East, or if he does, he has a really low seed so that thoery doesn't really work well in his favour. I think Lebron will become more deadlier as he grows. He will surpass Kobe but between the two of them at this particular moment, Kobe...by 3%.

No question its Lebron why must you guys always defend kobe What has he ever done without the most dominant player on his team. Miss tthe playoffs and have a worse recod than that other team in L.A.At least Lebron has his team fighting for a playoff spot

Why must you always put Kobe down? You obviously don't watch him play and your opinion is just a regurgitation from the media critics. Your statement suggests Kobe played no role in the Lakers winning 3 NBA titles. Your statement suggests Kobe is not a 25/6/6 player, one of three in the league. I've seen you refer to him as a ballhog numerous times, but he takes less shots per game than LeBron James.

[IMG] don't know about that one, he doesn't force nearly as many shots, but he doesn't have a better shot by miles. He's not Ray Allen or something. Lebron is a much improved shooter, and is good, but overall he's about the same as Kobe, he just has better shot selection.

Ive put down kobe numerous times, ive only posted once on kobe and that was this time. Nice Job. Kobe is a great player but not as good as lebron. Kobe had to do with the lakers winning titles. But then he had shaq and great rold players around them. Lebron makes his team a contendor for the playoffs by him self. Kobe has great young talent in odom and butler.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting shapecity:</div><div class="quote_post">LeBron complains quite a bit actually. He complained about Silas being fired, he complained about McInnis being benched, and he's been complaining about the way the team is using him. If the Cavs don't sign Big Z he's going to complain about that as well.

There's nothing wrong with complaining, all the great players complain, some just more publicly than others. I'm just curious why LeBron is getting no heat when his team is struggling, but the media can't wait to rip Kobe for the Lakers pathetic season.

You don't think Steve Nash, Tim Duncan, Shaq O'neal, KG, and many of the other superstars in the league don't make their teammates better?

If LeBron is the ultimate teammate how come the Cavs are not better than a .500 team and struggling to make the playoffs? I think that's a fair question.</div>

now this is very funny i can tell u dont watch to much ball........first off those players have help amare stoudamire is not elp joe johnson is not help Q isnt help marion isnt help ? duncan shaq kg they all have talent on there teams i left out a couple names before but look at kgs team he cant make the playoffs wit that team?lol please this isnt even a fair question who is playin the best on our team ira newable lol yea ira newable is a superstar lol............we are a 500 team thats right and we are better then we were last year lol we get beter not worse like the lakers do like the t wolves do lol...........lebron complains cuz management is not doint there job and getting them players we have shitty players and everyone knows that just like j kidd lebron makes shitty players good players look at rodney buford.........lol lebron and jkidd bring out the best in players so does nash and duncan not kg spree was much better before the t wolves so was so was szerbiak...........when lebron has descent players on his team ull see what happens watch when he doesnt have to shoot 35 shots a game and players start cutting and then ull see his potential.... give us michael redd and then its on not JERI WELSCH lmao.....we need new management new players and new coach and then ull see whats up he will have a 60 win season and playoffs and maybe even a conference title on the first year all we need is a shooter and it wont hurt to have a better point even milt palacio [IMG] any human being in there right mind would complain in lebrons situation he is giving his alll and the other players are watching no cutting just watching it happened to jordan also so i dont sweat u haters ull see whats up soon

Lebron has a better shot SELECTION than Bryant, I'm not sure about shot. Lebron's shot is still suspect. If you had to pick one of the two to take a last second shot, who's jumper would you rely on more at this point in thier careers? Kobe for sure. Don't base everything on shot percentage, it doesn't tell the whole story.

One thats probably the last place KG would want to go(besides atlanta) because of number 8 the biggest ball hog in the league. Plus I dont think the wolves are stupid enough</div>
You said that in the Laker forum. Ok numerous times was an exaggeration, but saying it once is, one too, many times.

The Cavs have been building around LeBron for 2 seasons now. The Lakers have only spent one season trying to build around Kobe. This season has been a bust for the Lakers for several reasons. Kobe is a big part of the reason, but so is Rudy T quitting, Divac and George practically missing the entire season, and Kobe being injured for 16 games. If those things don't happen the Lakers are probably in the playoffs this year. Before those things happened the Lakers were playing .550 basketball and 2nd in the Pacific Division.

As for jaytheking your post isn't really worth commenting on. First of all it was hard enough to understand, and secondly my post you responded to went right over your head. You completely contradict everything you talked about.

First you said LeBron needs decent basketball players around him. Then later on you say players like Jason Kidd and LeBron James make "shitty"players better, so if that's true, why are the Cavs only a .500 ball club and likely out of the playoffs?

Then you go on to say ... <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">any human being in there right mind would complain in lebrons situation he is giving his alll and the other players are watching no cutting just watching </div>

That is EXACTLY what is happening on the Lakers and Kobe Bryant is put in the same situation as LeBron. Just like LeBron, Kobe tries to get his teammates going, he sets them up with WIDE OPEN looks and they still miss. They miss layups, they miss dunks, or they pass up those open looks. So just like LeBron, Kobe is forced to shoot more. The difference is, LeBron gets excused by it from the media and fans, but Kobe gets criticized for it by the media and fans.

Finally I said, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH COMPLAINING!

Actually Lebron's shot is not "suspect" anymore, he's actually a pretty reliable shooter. Kobe is a better mid-range shooter, and for now a better outside shooter.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">lol lebron and jkidd bring out the best in players so does nash and duncan not kg spree was much better before the t wolves so was so was szerbiak</div>
You've gotta be kidding me. Sprewell was also a lot younger before he came on the Timberwolves, anyone who actually thinks KG's not making Sprewell better is the reason Sprewell has sucked should be the one that's told they don't watch much ball.

Szczerbiak has been on the Twolves his whole career, with KG, how could he have been better before without KG when he's always been with him. If you don't know the significance of FGA, and MPG, then you shouldn't be talking because those are the only reasons Wally's scoring numbers are down. PER minute he's averaging the exact same PPG as he did the year he scored 18.7 PPG [IMG]

While I have supported Kobe in the thread, I do have to say it's very interesting to contrast and compare how they play. A lot of people were downing on Lebron making his teammates better because they didn't make the playoffs, but common, we all know that's not exactly why. Everyone compalins about teammates not making shots, but really, the only people that should complain about that are Jason Kidd and Vince Carter, and they're winning games. After McInnis was banished, the Cavs starting lineup consisted of Snow, Newble, Gooden, Ilguaskas [and Traylor when Z was injured]. Snow can't shoot, Newble isn't near consistent in his shooting and really isn't much of a shooter. Gooden is a decent shooter, but not the most reliable in that aspect, Ilguaskas is good, and Traylor isn't much of a shooter, but can once in a while hit the 15-20 foot jumper.

Anyways, the Lakers have a lot better "shot makers" than the Cavs, and also have a lot more outside threats. Chucky was a better shooter than even McInnis, not to compare to Snow, Butler is vastly superior to Newble in shooting, Odom is better than Gooden, and the only advantage the Cavs have is at center with Ilguaskas over Mihm. Even on the bench, the Lakers have Cook, Jumaine Jones, and Grant is decent at hitting that 15 foot jumper.

On the bench, the Cavs have Traylor, Pavlovic who is fairly good, he can get hot sometimes, and that's about all, their bench doesn't do much. Their's also Anderson Varejao, the energy man, but he's not known for his shooting, though he can once in a while hit the mid-range jumper.

Lebron definately does make his teammates better. One of the things with Kobe is that he tries to do too much, and really isn't capable of doing some of the things he's trying to do efficiently. Efficiency is the big thing here, when you have Lebron scoring 32.3 PPG on 45.5% FG, and 36.1% 3PT, while also averaging 7.1 assists to 3.5 turnovers, and his team is struggling to win, you know something is wrong. He has to shoot because his teammates aren't doing too good, yet he's still averaging 7.1 APG with decently few turnovers, and even with constant double and triple teams, scoring 32.3 PPG on good shooting numbers. Their's not much more on player can do to tell the truth, his defense though is in question, but Kobe's defense has not been close to stellar this season, so we won't hold that too much against him.

Kobe's best overall month of the season was when he averaged 29.2 PPG | 7.3 RPG | 7.9 APG, but he shot 39.1% FG, 32.3% 3PT, and averaged 5.3 TPG. His best scoring month he averaged 29.4 PPG on 47.1% FG, 38.3% 3PT, and only 4.3 APG. Every month where Kobe averaged 6+ APG, he also averaged 4+ TPG. The 2 months where he averaged 7+ APG, he averaged 5.3 and 4.9 TPG.

Lebron never averaged up to 4 TPG in any month this season. His highest turnover average was 3.8 TPG, and he averaged 8.5 assists that month. The middle three months of the season, Lebron averaged 8.1, 8.5, and 8.0 assists respetively, to 3.3, 3.8, and 2.7 turnovers. His lowest assist average month was March at 5.7 APG to 3.3 turnovers, and he also scored 29.9 PPG on 45.6% FG and 34.1% 3PT.

His best scoring month quantity wise he averaged 32.3 PPG on 45.5% FG and 36.1% 3PT. Efficiency wise, he averaged 26.5 PPG on 52.0% FG, and 40.0% 3PT. His best overall month he averaged 32.3 PPG | 9.8 RPG | 7.1 APG, and the shooting numbers I already posted.

Lebron knows how to handle in game pressure, double and triple teams etc, while also finding the open man, and involving his team a lot [and I mean a lot] better than Kobe. Kobe can do it well once in a while, but he's not close to consistent. They both recieve equal amount of defensive attention and pressure, but Lebron just does about everything better in those circumstances. Committs less turnovers, scores just as well and a lot more efficiently, and averages more assists

Another thing with Kobe is when his team is down, he tries to force the three too much. He starts jacking at times ill-advised three's in an attempt to bring them back, but you know if you miss those three's, you dig a deeper hole for your team. I think Lebron is just showing even more composure, and really surpassing Kobe in on court decision making already. Really if Lebron get's good man to man defense, I don't think Kobe will be able to hang on because he's already a superior all-round, and overall offensive player, and he's 6 years younger.

No, his jumpshot is pretty reliable. Bryant has taken a slide this year (wonder why [IMG] ). Both get lot's of double teams, but LeBron's shot is better.

They're both obviously great talents and Kobe definitely has proven himself more than Lebron has, however I'm gonna go with Lebron...I love his all-around game better than Kobe's, plus he has more height and weight and the same athleticism...he can play 3 positions very effectively and is more concerned about getting his teammates involved than just scoring...

LEBRON BEATS HIM IN ALMOST EVERY CATEGORY. You have to love kobe to think hes better. I dont even like Lebron but you have to be pretty damn stupid to think Kobe is better. And Kobe has a better supporting cast he just doesnt kno how to use them. You can even compare and see that Kobe has a better supporting cast. Im not tryin to bash on kobe but saying hes better than Lebron is just crazy.

While Kobe has been poor defensively, he's shown before that he's a much superior defender to Lebron right now, if Kobe's defense remains down next season, and even without Lebron's improving, then Kobe will really have nothing on him.

Lebron is a bad defender man to man, he's also a poor late game defender, and was even ripped about it on one of the Cleveland papers.
