Okay,we've got Western Conference playoff position going like this right now-

    1. Phoenix
    2. San Antonio
    3. Seattle
    4. Dallas
    5. Houston
    6. Sacramento
    7. Denver
    8. Memphis or Minnesota still in contention

    And the Eastern Conference-

    1. Miami
    2. Detroit
    3. Boston
    4. Chicago
    5. Washington
    6. Indiana
    7. Philadelphia
    8. Cleveland or New Jersey still in contention

So my question is, which of the lower seeds (five through eight) do the higher seeds not want to face in the playoffs? Give picks for each conference and reasons why. Right now I think for Western Conference it would be Houston and Denver while for the Eastern Conference it is Washington or Indiana. Denver and Houston are red hot right now and have pretty deep benches so I think it would definitely give some teams a scare. Meanwhile, Washington and Chicago's records aren't that different and both are pretty strong teams. Plus, Indiana is also going strong into the playoffs so they might do some damage as well against Boston. Discuss.

    lower seeds

I dont think that anyone would want to face Denver right now, they have been playing extraordinary ball. Teams would also be scared of facing Cleveland just because on any given night LBJ could just take over and win the game for them.

no one is gonna want to play the nuggets right about now. in the east, indiana's a dangerous team. they've been there before, and the fact that they've lost so much this year and stayed in contention is a testament to how well they'll prolly play in the post season. they're dangerous.

Hot teams as of late would always be scary to face, such as Dallas, Detroit, and Denver. Like JWohl said LeBron (just to name a few) can come out very unexpectically smoke you right before your eyes.

But to answer your question Az, here are the teams I would like to avoid in the playoffs...as of now.
    1. San Antonio
    2. Dallas
    3. Houston
    4. Detroit
    5. Boston
    6. Indiana
    7. And if NJ gets in, I`d watch out for them also.

</div>Right now I`m watching him play the Heat, so I guess O`Neal is back and ready for the playoffs...

The Sixers I think are going to be dangerous because the can run with any team in the league.

No one wants to play Houston...I think we'll end up beating Seattle if we play them and I also think we'll end up beating Dallas as well...Nowitzki and McGrady even out, Yao will own the Dallas big men, and while Dallas does have supreme depth, I'm just as confident with Houston's bench of Mutombo, James, Barry and even Padgett...the Rockets have two superstars, shooters (Barry, Wesley, Padgett, James), defenders (Bowen, Mutombo, Wesley, Sura)...Of course, I may be a tad biased tho [IMG]...

I know they haven't been playing exceptionally well, but I wouldn't want to have to play the Sixers in the first round. Any team with Allen Iverson and Chris Webber is going to give you a run for your money. Then when you add in role players like Kyle Korver and Samuel Dalambert, it only adds fuel to the fire. Also, Andre Iguodala has been playing great ball. If they can just put all that talent together in the right way, I think they could be a huge surprise.

Denver, New Jersey, Houston, and for Chicago, Washington will prey on you [IMG]

New Jersey though will face Miami, so that kind of ends it for them, but Denver can put up a mighty fight against Phoenix, and Houston should take Sacremento, but the 4-5 difference is never really much.

am i crazy for thinking NJ can make it at least 6 or 7 games against miami, if not winning? i know shaq is too much for the nets weak front court, but J-Kidd and VC just seem hungry. and if RJ can come back, and isnt too out of the nets system, thats sounds like a dangerous team to me.

What are you talking about? Denver and Phoenix? Nuggets are going to get thier butts kicked by the Spurs. I personally don't see the Rockets beating the Mavericks. However Kings over Sonics is definitely a possibility...

The way Denver is playing lately has turned alot of heads and its good to have that great winning intensity. The Sonics and Kings looks like a pretty good matchup, I agree, Sac does have a chance.

I dunno if NJ can beat Miami, but I know they can take them the distance. Remember last year NJ took Detroit to 7 games. Detroit beat the Lakers 4-1. This year NJ Exchanged K-Mart for Vince Carter. And Shaq moved to Miami getting Dywane Wade instead of Kobe. If Richard Jefferson can get healthy you have a very dangerous team. Plus, Shaq's health is a question. Don't discount the 1-8 matchups.

Miami vs. NJ is going to be a great series (if NJ holds on). It will be tougher then most people expect I think but the Heat will probably win in 5 or 6, with most games coming down to the wire.
