<div class="quote_poster">Quoting d00d:</div><div class="quote_post">Didn't realize that it was an early game...Sonics up 8 right now in the second.</div> This was one I wish I could have seen! Not even available on League Pass. Was fun to lean on KC's play by play again though. Lewis went on a tear and then in the post game interview said he didn't feel like he was back yet!!!! I like that! If he puts up 28 points on 3's, hooks, put backs, dunks and midrange jumpers when he is only 90%...look out 6th seed. All around, sounded like a good game.
Whew. Saw we were up 18 and I go make some lunch only to come back and see our lead down to 7 with 5 minutes to go. I guess Rashard made some huge plays (a dunk and a 3) to put it away. I read on ESPN.com that McHale called for the last shot of the 3rd when Cassell missed a shot with 8s left, we run down and Ray hits a 3 to put us up 17. That had to be a killer.
Sweet Lew is back. Great win for the Supes, let's keep it going so we can amass some momentum for our playoff run.
Huge, huge, huge. Dallas and Houston will tell us where we are really at, but Minnesota were very hot. I wonder if we'll get a card in the mail from Mike Fratello?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting KG-MVP:</div><div class="quote_post">How can you be happy when you just eliminated the Wolves from the play-offs???</div> Because we want to enter the playoffs with momentum. Although a series between the Wolves and Suns might have been more competitive, a series between the Grizz and Suns will probably be more fun to watch.
Being the glass half empty guy that I am, I wonder if we would be better off playing the majority of our playoff games on the road -- especially considering how we've played away from the Key this year. I'm estastic that we were able to guarantee our playoff positioning last night. Considering how much the Wolves had to lose, it is great to see our group go into Minnesota and beat the Wolves convincingly. Should bode well for us in the postseason. I hope that Nate doesn't ease off of the accelerator. We are just coming off of are largest losing streak of the season and I doubt that are four game winning streak would hurt us. Although we aren't playing for anything at the moment, to beat two tough teams on the road will do wonders for our confidence. Especially considering that one of those teams could be our first round opponents. This is what I've been waiting for three long ass years. Let's go, fam.
One of the illest quotes of the season. When asked the reason why the Sonics were able to win so convincely against the Wolves yesterday, Danny Fortson replied, <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"We're just better than they are. A better team. As simple as that."</div> http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/basketball/220566_sonx18.html
I read that quote too. Ray Allen also said something like 'Against us you can't guard everything, or you'll give up everything' I guess we have our swagger back. Funny what a home win against a hapless NO team and a big road win against the dysfunctional Wolves can do.
Only problem with the swagger is that now Ray wants a breather to rest up for the playoffs... From the Seattle Times... "Before tomorrow's game in Dallas, Ray Allen will have a serious conversation with coach Nate McMillan and the Sonics' medical staff. The battered point guard is likely to say: 'I'm tired and I need to sit down.'"
hehe, hate to be one of the ones to defend "slacking off," but I don't think it'd be too big a stretch to see ALL the west teams taking a bit of a break for the last 1-2 games of the season.. Positioning is about set, and who wants to risk injury when you aren't really playing for anything anymore? It's not as if that confidence will disappear if the Sonics switch Ray's playing time with Flip's for a couple nights..
