He told the New York Daily News that he's probably going to buy a home in New York this summer, perhaps as he prepares to sell his Cleveland home. Since there are only a few teams with enough available cap space to sign Ilgauskas for his market value -- and he's probably not interested in the likes of the Hawks, Clippers or Bobcats at this stage of his career -- there's a high probability the Cavaliers might end up working a sign-and-trade with their All-Star center if they don't keep him.</div>

Ok, if this happens, I'll really miss the big guy. He was here through the bad times, and I really want him to be here for the good, but we'll have to see what happens

I dont want him. Hes ALOT of cap, I think we should sign and trade him. I was thinking of a trade, I heard that we might get szerbiak so I think we should trade z for wally and Cassell. If they want another dumb bench player than let them. An expirienced PG and the shooter we've been looking for.

True, but remember Z was a true blue center. He gave 17/7 and about 2 blocks a game. You lose an extra element with the big guy gone. Would this mean Gooden would be the center? I don't know, but an All-Star center (even in the east) is pretty solid.

Too bad if he goes, hes one of those great loveable players for the Cavs, but I guess he really wants to go. But it raises the question, what can we get for him?

It would be a huge loss for the Cavs especcially because LBJ really wants him back and if he doesnt get his way rumors say he may demand a trade.

    why wait

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Tesh15:</div><div class="quote_post">prolly lebron james will do the same thing in 07 if cavs continue to play like this</div>

Why would LBJ wait until than? If they dont make the playoffs this year (now looking to be a very viable situation) or they dont resign Z LBJ will supposedly demand a trade. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"If the Cavaliers, who were 34-30 when new owner Dan Gilbert had coach Paul Silas fired, either miss the playoffs or fail to re-sign free-agent center Zydrunas Ilgauskas, look for LeBron James to push to be traded to the Knicks. James is rumored to be lobbying for Gilbert to re-sign Ilgauskas. Silas also may end up coaching in Orlando or Toronto.</div>

What do the knicks even possibly have to even make a demanded trade work?

A trade doesn't happen unless the team likes what they get, and you have nothing. It's just honesty. We don't want Marbury.

How about 30 million worth of expiring contracts although I wouldn't want them to use it on Ilgauskas.

You're not getting Marbury with Ilgauskas even if you wanted!

Z said he only wants to play for 3 more seasons. At this point in his career I'd imagine he wants to play for a contender, and he could put a team in the playoffs this year over the top. The Mavs have always been interested in him and they have enough trade bait to pull off a sign & trade.

I imagine if the Cavs do end up dealing Z it's going to be to a team in the West. If they deal Z I'd imagine they'd try Varejao or Traylor at center.

Trading him to the TWolves makes sense for both teams. Z would really benefit with KG playing alongside him. KG would take a lot of defensive pressure from him and make up for his deficiencies on the defensive end. I'm sure the TWolves wouldn't mind moving Wally off the books either. A lot is going to depend on what Z's salary demands are though. Is he willing to take a paycut from his $14+ Million contract to play for a contender?
