That would be a very stupid reason to fire a coach. In my oppinion, that would be a reason to keep him. Charles Barkley has one of his funniest quotes when talking about the Cleveland management trying to keep LeBron James: "What's Usher gonna do? Moonwalk for LeBron? He may listen to his music, but he ain't going to listen to him about basketball." I don't know, it struck me being pretty good.
Although Sam Cassel has requested giving the 03-04 Big Three another chance, it can not happen. Sprewell absolutely has to go: His quality as a player has ruduced about 90% since he was an All-Star, and when you mention his attitude problems that possibly led to this seasons failure, there is no way he deserves another chance. It seems that a decision has already been made that Cassel will be staying, and I have no problem with that. I dont think that Cassel's attitude was as much of an issue as Sprewell's was, and he had a bad season with his injuries. I think Cassel is an excellent point-guard and I would like him staying, but its really going to require a complete revamp of the point guard position. If they could, i'd like to see the team get a new starting point-guard and have Sam come off the bench. I think he is too unreliable as a starter since he is old and prone to injuries. However, if they are lucky enough to sign Ray Allen, I would feel better about having Cassel starting at the Point if Allen was going to play the 2-guard. If that happened then perhaps we could keep Carter as the second Point Guard. That means Troy Hudson needs to leave. He is nothing but a shadow of the player he used to be, and we have too many point guards that probably want to start. If we had those two in the backcourt, I would feel better about Sam starting. If Sam went down and Carter started with Allen, I think we would be just fine. As for Wally Sczerbiak: I hear rumors about him being traded to New York, but there is nothing worth getting from them. I dont want to end up with Tim Thomas. What I would like to see is a trade to Los Angeles: Something like Wally for Lamar Odom. We get a young forward, and LA gets a great shooter, it seems fair to me. If that went through we could have something like: Center: Olowokandi Power Forward: Lamar Odom Small Forward: Kevin Garnett Shooting Guard: Ray Allen Point Guard: Sam Cassell I love that lineup and I think its not too unreasonable to think about. Odom gives us some much needed post play and he can shoot the three. Olowokandi showed signs of breaking out at the end of the season, i'm willing to let him stay. It would be about time KG got moved to the Small Forward, and I think with that lineup he would be more effective at that position. Ray Allen, you cant ask for more from a shooting guard. Sam Cassel, great point guard. And If we could hold on to our current bench players, we would have decent replacements. I can see Ebi coming in a SF for KG. Hassel coming in for Allen. Carter coming in for Cassel. Madsen? Coming in for Olowokandi or Odom? I dont know about that there. But thats what i've thought of so far, and I think it looks pretty good.
wally for odom? could happen....but having allen...i don't think so...considring a great season which in he leads his sonics so far into the second round, why wouldn't we want to stay with the sonics?...if he was smart sour he would end up in with us...he and KG could be magical...but i really don't see it happen... i really hope it will be a purefine summer and well come into 05-06 with smart additions....
Can I ask where we are getting the money to sign Ray? And, no way would they do Odom for Wally in my opinion. I think Odom is a lot more valuable than Wally. It would be nice to have a little reunion with Sam and Ray, but Ray coming here is not going to happen anytime soon.
@@@ here is my opinion about this topic... and pls dont be mean to me because of this...lolz... i hope spree will not come back next year wearing a wolves jersey... so that we can sign a good free agent player because of our salary cap... in the draft we can pick a shooting guard who is a good shooter... to open up the defence and not the defence sag to kg when in the post... one reason is that wally wants to be traded because he wants to be in the starting 5.. wout wally, no one in the team can a good outside shooter... so maybe a j.j. redick or stoudamire can be a good option. we can also draft hakim warrick of syracuse... he can play small forward. a young and athletic player can be a wolves future.. so what do you think guyzzz?????

Welcome to the site. And I hope you continue to post.... But drafting a shooter is not major need for this team, while they may need to add another wing player if they let Sprewell walk and trade Wally...a spot up 2 isnt something they need. They need a wing player who can put the ball on the floor get into the lane. And get to the line. While the Wolves were the best % free throw shooting team in the league this year, they were near the bottom in free throw attempts. And that was the direct result of two things one, was a lack of penetration from their perimeter. And two, this team lacks bigs that play with their backs to the basket in the post. The Wolves have to find ways to manufacture ways to get to the line alot more next season. And one way to do with this would be finding a slashing wing player, who can get to the paint off the dribble either in the open court or half-court.
We might not have enough money to sign Allen, and i'm only mentioning him because there has been a lot of trade talk surrounding him in recent months, but Sprewell leaving does free up a good amount of money. And we are paying Wally a lot of money so if he was to leave for a cheaper player... And while overall I think Odom is the better player, I dont think hes as valuable to the Lakers as Wally would be. Wally seems to be a player that could really help improve LA, while Odom hasn't been able to produce there.
Even with Spree gone, we will still be over the cap, so not that's much money to work with. We only have the MLE. While Wally could fit in the Lakers because they need some outside shooters, I think they can get better players for Odom. I think the Lakers are still trying to get Kobe and Odom to play well together. If we were to get him, he would be better suited at the 3 and not KG. And we also be adding salary and not substracting. If we to trade Wally for cheaper players which wouldn't help, that still wouldn't free enough cap space As Henacy said before, a shooter isn't our major need. We need a center before thinking about a shooter. We could use a slasher, a defensive minded pg before a shooter. And if we wanted, we could use a 2nd rounder to draft a shooter. Maybe we should look at Reggie Evans and Chris Andersen. Both would be relatively cheap. Reggie might be a bit undersized but is a great rebounder. BTW, Reddick isn't in this years draft.
McHale has zero vision or imagination to make great deals like Thorn or Colangelo or Buford does. Don't expect any deals to happen. What you see is what you get. I just hope we get Silas even though I am not holding my breath.
I don't know about Kenny. Is he even looking for a head coaching job? I know I heard that Bill Lambier, another analyst, though, not from TNT, is looking for an NBA coaching job and is rumored to go somewhere, can't remember what team though. I'm going to have to pass on Kenny.
Agreed. I don't think we can take a guy with no coaching experience. We have to get a guy that's been trained with at least five years of experience. The last thing this team needs is a rookie coach.
How much coaching experience did Byron Scott have before taking over the Nets? I thought he was a rookie coach who did a pretty good job. Right now, my top choices are Doug Collins (hear he's not currently interested) and Paul Silas.
I wasn't saying rookie coaches couldn't succeed, I was more saying that our particular team cannot have a rookie coach. A rookie coach would have trouble with attitudes like Cassell, Hudson, Szczerbiak and Olowakandi. We need a guy that not only knows basketball, but knows how to deal with players.
guyzz.... i read about an article in realGM that t'wolves met memphis asst. coach lionel hollins for the coaching position... i think he's not the right coach for us... cause when he is the interim head coach for the grizz last season he sucks... if i'm correct, he is the head coach of the grizz before hubie.... what do you think of him as a t'wolves head coach guyzz...????

I'm new here guys...but i have been watching the wolves all my life, seriously the last three seasons....and this is what i think should be done. we need to bring in a center....preferably through a trade, whether it be cassell(who i think has to go), hudson, kandi, wally, etc. i would also like to see us trade someone and our first round pick, to move up in the lottery, possilby to get into contention for chris paul (this may be a little unreasonable, but i can dream...)or at least i high quality player. draft a gaurd or small forward in the draft...specific player depends on whether or not we trade up pick up larry hughes in free agency...im not sure how his contract would fit in with our cap...but i think trading wally and sam would make room lastly, we need a coach....i would like to see paul silas. However it sounds as if we are going with carlisimo...and im ok wiht that. the spurs are a great team, and you cant argue with success.
My fellow Timber Wovles fan....MY WISH list...I think my wishes are possible...not probally but possible and I do believe it will help our team. #1 WISH RAY Allen...we drafted him a number of years ago...its time he came home to his draft day team and played for them. he did not get the contract he wanted in settatle, we could offer him the 5 million examtpion for this year and PAy him the BIG bucks in the years to come. HE might be willing for a chance to play with KG and Sam (again) he woould be a big pick up for us #2 Wally had a solid season for us this year. He would rather start then come off the bench, I believe the organization needs to decide right now it it is going to feature wally and if not they need to get fair trade value for him. I would perfer that we had already signed Wish #1 before we trade wally...but if need be I would say have settale sign allen and then trade wally for him. Or if we get lucky to sign allen on our own trade wally for a big man. I think wally is a heck of a shooter and a gusty player who has been solid for our team and I hate to see him leave....but if he isnt going to be hapy we need to get a good deal. Swift would be a good pick up for a center/post player...he might be a little expensive but if we could sign him it would be a nice addition. this wish is a little unrealistic but i think it would be incredible....LARRY Hughes...he is a player on the raise and I think he is ready to get to the next level. I want us to resign eddie G i think he has a chance to contribute a lot more this up coming season. I would like to see eddie g and kG playing togather a lot more cause of the way they can defend the bucket. For a coach......this is a hard thing to make a wish on cause a lot of coachs would bring differnt things to our team...ONe coach that i think we comand the respect of the player and has had a positive effect already on a current player is John Lucas. He would be a new enrgy to the team and I would like to see what he could get out of KG who according to experts had a poor season this year(LOL). These are a few ideas...let me knwo what you guys think
i think that if we get rid of spree and trade possibly wally...there would be more than enough cap room...would larry hughes really be looking for more than the 15 mil we were paying spree? i like warrick, he can definitely get to the basket on the dribble and finish...thats what he is best at.
