<div class="quote_poster">Quoting QbanBalla15:</div><div class="quote_post">who did they bring in to help vine donyell marshall that wont do the trick sorry guys. Jalen Rose naaa sorry try again. the best thing you guys did was draft bosh but he wont make much of a difference. What was the lineup he played with this year. Skip, Rose Marshall and Bosh ya they brought a lot of people in to help him.</div>Dude, you gotta go back to the 2001 off-season to find your answer.

After Carter led the Raps to being a shot away from the Eastern Conference finals, the organization spent everything they had to keep him. They gave him a 6 year max contract and to also make him happy, they made sure everyone else on that roster was taken care of. They signed Antonio Davis to a ridiculous monster contract, Jerome Williams and Alvin Williams also received over-bloated contracts, and on top of that, they also signed the aging Hakeem Olajuwon (and we all know how that turned out).

In that off-season they spent like crazy in order to convince Carter to stay, and VC was very happy with the organization for doing so. However, he got injured shortly after and everything went downhill from there. To this day, the Raps are still paying a huge price for overspending that off-season..... That's why it's absurd to say that the Raps didn't spent any money to keep him happy.

like you said they gave two bumbs who arent even there anymore "over bloated" contracts. When they could've gotten someone to help him out.

We resigned ALL of the goddamn players that helped Carter, and yes, those were the same players that led us to the best season of the Raptors' lives. Vince was pushing to resign those players, and HE was the one who wanted Hakeem on our team, HE was the one who wanted Milt Palacio n our team. Don't give me that "he didn't get people to help him out", because thats a load of BS dump, because we catered to most of Carter's needs, so it was CARTER who you should blame "for not getting anyone to help him", but Vince isn't all to blame...

    ^ What he said [IMG]

QbanBalla you're missing the point. You're the one who said that the Raps didn't spend any money to keep Carter happy.... but that's <u>exactly</u> what the Raps did in 2001. It doesn't matter how everything turned out in the end, at that time it was necessary to sign those players in order to keep our playoff calibre team intact and to keep VC happy (and VC was the one pushing to re-sign those guys).

Ah well, were not tanking the game, but still losing anyways. Omar Cook is looking good, we should bring him back next year as a backup. I was a little skeptical at the point of us signing him, but now I'm impressed.

No self-respecting NBA player would purposely tank a game (Vince not withstanding). You can be sure Sam wouldn't let them tank this game. What comes around goes around. Even though a higher draft pick was up for grabs tonight I would never be able to bring myself to cheer against the Raptors.

I'm sure all true Raptor fans would agree.

Like you I am not part of the raptors organization, however, when you said

Your the one who sounds lke he's part of the organization.</div>
[IMG] I see, well it's not easy to pick out these kind of things from people typing, you didn't really make it seem sarcastic, so it's hard for me to know.

Hmm..I don't see why hoping that your team does better in the future, via draft, isn't being a "true raptor fan"

No, true fans should hope for what's best for the team, and towards the end, the Knicks, Warriors, and Bucks winning was the best thing for the Raptors. I never wanted us to lose, but if we lost, I wasn't sad or anything...

Well..when we were out of playoff contention I hoped we lost ALL of our games from then on...even the one against NJ. I would much rather see us get a better pick, so we can see our team in the playoffs hopefully later on, then watch us get a bad pick and not even a spot in the playoffs.

The way I see it is most fans (excluding the people on JBB and such) are much to impatient to wait a few more seasons, therefore aren't really true fans, because they only wan't the good times without the bad.

Well for me I never want to see the Raptors lose for any reason even if it was for a better draft pick. And the draft pick isn't even a sure thing, it would be different if it were the NHL or the NFL but it isn't. Losing can have a very negative impact on a team and it's players especially younger players like Bosh. If Bosh sees us losing games and not putting their hearts into it, do you think he'll want to resign with us?

This is what he said at the end of the Cavs game: "I'm so tired of losing it's unreal"

Is it worth losing Bosh over a chance at a better draft pick?

pssst - the best possible sceme against Carter really is to purchase a WW2 V2 rocket launcher and a V2 rocket, then aim it at Vince's achilles tendon. If it hits, it is likely that it will cause a tear and cause Arthritis and slowly ruin VC's career.

    Plan number 2:
Pretend you are a New Jersey fan, and bring a picture of Vince. Then ask for an autograph and when he gets close enough give him a paper cut and the consequences become dire...
His shot no longer has arc as the incredible pain of the small paper cut is unbearable for Wince Carter. knowing our pampered baby Vince, he will miss playoffs as he will hospitalized for 3 weeks because of the paper cut. Muahaha Raptor fans always get the last laugh!

Man, how come no other Raptor fan has thought of this?
