<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Phoenix - In his typically understated way, Voshon Lenard explained why he wasn't surprised to see himself in an NBA uniform instead of street clothes Monday, even if everyone around him was. "I knew I would be back. It was just a matter of when," the Nuggets guard said. Lenard missed 79 games with a torn Achilles tendon, an injury that occurred opening night against the Los Angeles Lakers. That injury almost always kills a player's season. But Denver general manager Kiki Vandeweghe said, "You never want to bet against a guy like Vo. He's so tough and so determined." Added trainer Jim Gillen: "Just shows the kind of surgeons we have and shows the kind of work ethic, mostly, that Vo has to get back to it. He's worked awful hard all season long."</div> Source Do you think Lenard should make the playoff roster?
Players coming back from injury are just a bit slow and not quite ready to play. While Lenard is good, there are other players that have been paying their dues on the Nuggets too, and building team chemistry while they're at it. They should let Lenard take a rest although it was a nice gesture to let him get back on and play a bit before the season's end to help make him feel part of the team.
Personally, I think he should be on the roster for the playoffs. His outside shooting will help them tremendously come postseason play. Right now, as their roster stands, they don't really have someone who can hit it in from long range on a consistent basis, and he'd definitely give them that. Also, having him could help stretch the defense out cause they'd have to worry about his ability to hit it from beyond arc, and that'd allow Melo, Camby, Nene, and Martin to get it inside more, and it'd also allow wider lanes and easier penetration for Miller to drive to the hoop. I don't see how it could really hurt them to put him on the roster.
I also think he should be on the playoff roster. You can never have too many shooters. Besides Person, what other player can you say is a deadeye from 3 on the Nugs? Atleast his presence alone spreads the court. Defenses will be hesitant to leave this guy at all...
Zhone I can't say it better. We've got many three point shooters actually. Besides Person, our most reliable three point shooter is Greg Buckner. Then Earl. DerMarr has stepped up considerably in that area since Person arrived too. But basically since Person got here, our Nuggets have shot much better from beyond the arc than before. Since he's overweight and only contribution would be a three point shot, I think Karl should leave him out of the playoff roster. Other guys have earned their spots there, understand their roles, and committed to it 100%.
Quite thought, for ya. Denver ranked 26th in the NBA in 3PT% this year and 13th in the Western Conference. I think they need Lenard on that roster. For makes, they made only 320/940 threes, which is only 34%. The most anyone made was 56, and that was Earl Boykins. Now, are you going to continue to sit there and tell me they don't need perimeter shooting?
