NBA Draft: Sean May & Marvin Williams Going Pro <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Inside sources, close to the North Carolina program, informed NBADraft.net Tuesday morning that UNC forwards Marvin Williams and Sean May will both enter the 2005 NBA draft. The talented forward duo helped UNC capture the 2005 NCAA title, their first since beating Michigan's Fab Five in 1994, and coach Roy Williams first ever. May, a junior, earned tournament MVP honors scoring 26 points and 7 rebounds in the title game against Illinois, and averaged 22.3 points, and 10.6 rebounds over the tournament. On the year, May averaged 17.5 points and 10.7 boards. Williams, a freshman, averaged 11.3 points, 6.6 rebounds and shot 43% from 3 in 22 minutes per game as the team's sixth man.</div> Source
With Mccants and Felton ditching the Heels, Sean Mays is not going to get any help next year from the other players. Mays performed extremely well this year and should jump on the oppurtunity. Marvin Williams needs some more work though. He's a good player, no doubt, but when the pressure was on, he couldn't produce. And the NBA is all about pressure. He should stay another year, work on his game, become more reliable, become one of the top players in college and ditch. Just my thoughts
Based purely on the belief that his only problem is mental, Williams is likely to get taken in the top 5 picks. It'd be nice for NC if he stayed, but he can work hard and start earning his paycheck sooner if he leaves now, and he'll still contribute soon enough.
Both of these guys should stay for one more year. Williams had his moments this season and May was spectacular, but they both looked as if they weren't ready for the next level. They should stay one more year to polish up their skills.
sad We will have no inside force without J. Williams, Marv, or May. We will be depending on a freshman, in Tyler Hansbrough. Don't get me wrong he is an outstanding player but he'll take a while. This will be a tough upsoming season.
Be prepared for a tough season UNC fans, it may get ugly down in Chapeal Hill. First Mccants, Felton, and now May and Marvin, it's going to be a disaster. Can't blame them though, they were brought in to turn the program around and they did that, now they look like they are going to take the money and run.
Yeah i had a feeling at the beginning of the year that they would all leave after this year especially if they won the championship. Good for them though, they should be getting paid for their work that they put in. BUt otherwise the Unc fans better get ready for a down year, Go Duke!
Yeah that is good they are going pro!! But now they have to step up a little more. and Felton he gotta watch out for iverson and wade 2 nice pg's.
