just want to say that milicic played as a starter for the first time tonight, because rasheed is out with injury. And he also put up some decent numbers: 16 pts, 5 reb, 7/11 FG in 30 minutes of play. I think he will be a good asset for pistons in years to come.
milicic Darko was impressive, though I only saw highlights, 16 points in 30 minutes is impressive but the 5 boards is somewhat lacking. He showed that he can and will be a good player if not a star at this level.
Incredible. I don't know what to say. It took so long, almost two season. His first, start, and damn impressive. I know that at least JWohl didn't see the game, so he can't comment on his whole performance. He got the start and seemed a bit shaky, like usual. He got a few fouls but also got 3 pts. Had to go to the bench with 3 fouls, end of his half after 9 minutes or so. Comes back in the second half and seems to gain a lot of confidence. Gets a few chances and displays some nice moves. Nice quick spins with a nice hook. Gets a few points. Next possesion, nice assist. Next possesion, no look assist, I was suprised, I thought he would have turned it over. Anyways, now I'm watching solely Darko, who the hell cares about Ben, we all know he'll block every shot. Well, he was alright on the defensive end, his positioning for rebounding wasn't the best, which explains only 5 rebounds. On the other hand, most of those came at the end when he got into his groove. He got a few blocks, he doesn't have to jump very high since he has a long wing span, like Prince. Will be a very good defensive player once he learns positioning. Then, we finally saw some range. After getting into double digits, Darko started draining inside the 3 jumpers. He got his shot down and even had that confident look, he knew they were going in. Oh, what also impressed me was his agressiveness. The Hawks (Yes, I know, Hawks, but still NBA) had to foul him to stop him, like 8 times. They even doubled Darko!!! It was crazy, almost like he was Shaq (although a hell of a lot worse, but getting better). If he plays this way, with this intensity, the agressiveness, then he should be on the playoff roster. Finally, I don't look like I'm smoking crack for never changing my signature.
I think it would be foolish if he isn't on the playoff roster. That could really hurt the kid, and kill any drive he had to improve.
Its taken a long time for Darko to get his first start, but he showed why the Pistons kept faith in him. In 30 minutes he scored 16 points, and was the second leading scorer for the Pistons. He had just 5 rebounds, but Ben Wallace had 17 in 24 minutes. With Ben Wallace around, it's not going to be easy for anyone to get rebounds. Darko also got 3 blocks. A good performance from Darko, and we should see a lot more of this in the future.
hey <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I know that at least JWohl didn't see the game, so he can't comment on his whole performance.</div> All I said was that he was good offensivley (which no one is gonna deny) and needed to do a better job rebounding (which no one is gonna deny). I didnt try to offer some in-depth analysis that I would have needed to see the game and I can comment on the whole performance.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Stockton:</div><div class="quote_post">Its taken a long time for Darko to get his first start, but he showed why the Pistons kept faith in him. It was good though, he definately showed he could be a good inside out big man with good passing, and possibly defensive skills down the line if he continues to put a lot of work, and develop.
I am actually impressed with his numbers. 16 pts in 30 minutes? If he can continue to improve on his game, he could be a very nice player for the Pistons, especially since Rasheed is winding down. Looks like Dumars knew what he was drafting all along.
The best part of this performance by Darko was he had only 3 at halftime and had 3 fouls. To finish off with only 4 fouls is a credit to him. He looked pretty good out there, he was soild defensively, didn't let his man get inside postion and blocked 3 shots. He hit a few nice jumpers. There is finally hope for Darko, he has alot of talent and I'm sure this wil give him confidence. He rebounded quite well, It's hard to get plenty of rebounds when you have Ben Wallace beside you. Now lets see what Darko can do in his 2nd start against the Bobcats. Will be abit harder for him going up againsy Emeka.
I really do hope he get's some more PT, especially during the playoffs, it would give him alot more confidence. I definately seem him being an all-star in the future.
yeah he seems to be a good shot blocker and scorer, but he needs to work on his rebounding, he only notched up 3 in todays game, thats 8 out of his 2 starts which is pretty poor for a second year 7 footer. I think Larry (if he's still coaching us next season) will give Darko some more minutes now (next season) that hes had a chance to prove himself, and show that he's an asset to the team.
1. that game was against the hawks 2. both teams used crappy lineups im gonna have to see more from him in a real game against some decent competition before i make a fair judgement. as far as im concerned, that was almost equivelant to a summer league game. its kinda like saying Ron Dupree is capable of 20 a night because of that game he had awhile back, and we all know that was a garbage game.
