<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- Junior guard Deron Williams will skip his senior season at Illinois and enter the NBA draft.

Williams said Tuesday night that he has signed with an agent, which prevents him from returning to the Illini next season.

``It has been my lifelong dream to play in the NBA,'' Williams said. ``I felt this was an opportunity I could not pass up.''
The 6-foot-3 Williams, a third-team AP All-America known for his playmaking and defensive abilities, averaged 12.5 points per game this season as the Illini reached the national championship game, but he led the team with 264 assists, an average of almost seven per game. He was selected first-team All-Big Ten for the second consecutive season. </div>

he's gonna be one heck of a pro. he was one of my favorite players in college ball the last couple years, and i think he's going to have an immediate impact in the nba.

I agree he needs to re-work his body. he reminds me a lot of jason kidd but he has a better offensive game than kidd. He will be a star in the league

I think the Kidd comparisons come around because Deron is a great light skinned black 6-3 point guard, like Kidd. It's like when they compare Pau Gasol to Dirk Nowitzki, Mike Miller to Larry Bird, or Shannon Brown to Allen Iverson. While Kidd and Williams both have a lot of similarities and have dominated at their respective levels, Kidd is a lot faster than Williams and has much better court vision. Williams, on the other hand, has a much better jumper. Whether he plays like Kidd or not though, I think we can all agree that he has a very bright future in the NBA, is probably a lock for the top six now, and has top 3 potential.

i think he's like kidd on many levels-the tough D, court vision, clutch shooting. if anything, williams is not quite the passer that kidd is (well, who IS kidd's equal there?) but a better overall shooter and he has more post-up ability than kidd. time will tell if these comparasins are warranted...

I dunno a think he is a tad overated. Dunno how much of an impact unless he has a lot of drive and good work ethic.

I have to disagree i think hes underrated. This season it was all about Dee Brown. Williams got some attention but definately not as much as he deserves.

I wasn't necessarily just talking about you. I hear the Kidd comparisons a lot, and I've never heard anyone mention that the two resemble eachother physically. I think that in the back of everyone's minds that plays a part in the comparison, because Deron's talents are different.

Thats great for Williams, he worked hard and deserves to go to the NBA, but he will be as good as kidd, thats far fetched. I don't believe that he is on the same plane as Jason.
