Shaq could see like an obvious answer for the MVP award but I'm going with my man Steve Nash. the record of the Miami Heat went down alot during the end of the year. In my opinion, an MVP is supposed to lead the team strong into the playoffs. But yeah Shaq might just win it though. But my vote will go to Nash.

Oh come on,your saying that just because your favourite teams are Sixers and Cavs. Both have the stats to be MVP but if you look what they have done with their teams, NO WAY.

I believe MVP stands for most VALUABLE player, not highest scorer, best player, or most athletic. The best way to determine the MVP is to picture his team without him. So let's break this down:

Miami Heat minus Shaq equals a 6 or 7 seed that makes it to the semis at best(Take a look at what happened last year).

Phoenix Suns minus Steve Nash equals last year's team(plus the other players they aquired).Young, inexperienced team with potential and potential only.

Dallas Mavericks minus Dirk Nowitzki equals 8 seed that gets knocked out early because of tough competition in the west(assuming Steve Nash is gone as well).

Philadelphia 76ers minus Allen Iverson equals Charlotte Bobcats.

So, the MVP award should go to Iverson not because of high scoring, flashy passes, or an uncanny ability to get to the basket, but because the 76ers would suck without him and he will probably never be traded unless its for another All-Star(And he'd have to be Tracy McGrady or better).

How do you know that? This season phily played 7 times without iverson and they lost 5 times and won twice.
loss at miami, at minnesota, at washington, at new orleans, at new jersey
win at dallas, at washington... For me, it is a decent record considering the opponent's toughness (except new orleans) and also all are away game. Yes they will be much worse without AI but still better than bobcats.

I think an MVP should be a combination of how valuable your are for the team (teams losing when you dont play and teams winning when you play) and also stats. So my MVP is Nash.. Shaq goes second and after that goes Iverson.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">And the winner is .. Shaquille O'Neal. He's simply the Most Valuable Player in the game. He transcends the game. He's such a difficult player to defend and he keeps you trying to figure things out about him as a player. This isn't a guy who's been in the league for three years. He has been a dominant player for more than a decade and he cannot be stopped. Period. He's come in to Miami and made the Heat one of the top five most popular teams in the game. I can't take any skin off guys like Dwyane Wade and Eddie Jones. They have some other great players on their team but Shaq has the city buzzing and excited. They feel a championship and this is a city that has won a couple World Series with the Marlins. It's an exciting time for them and there's no comparison when you talk about what Shaq has been able to do in this game.

If I was to say that there was anyone else who's deserving of it, it would probably be Dwyane Wade. I like how his game has expanded. I would throw Steve Nash into the discussion as well, but a guy who plays on offense and doesn't have an impact on the other end of the court doesn't really turn me on. I know people have said things about him and I like his tenacity. But I wouldn't even say he was my third pick. If he played a different style of game, like John Stockton, at the other end of the court, then, yeah, he's probably my pick. But you're talking about a guy who doesn't even make an impact to any degree on the defensive end of the court. Now you wanna say he's the most valuable player? What is it about him that shows that he's valuable on the other end of the court? I would look at Amar? Stoudemire before I look at Nash, to be honest. Not taking anything away from Nash, but if I take Stoudemire out of that mix on that team, I think that's where they really fall off. Steve Nash can get you wins, but he's not going to get you there. I would throw Tim Duncan into the mix as well. He's a very valuable piece to this league, the game and his team. When you talk about a valuable player, he's definitely at the top along with Shaq. But there can only be one winner. Give it to the Diesel.</div>

You can tell Pippen takes defense seriously...

I just find his coments baffling for obvious reasons. He probably doesn't want Nash to win because he dislikes his hair. Pip really didn't say anything positive about Steve, it was more like a Steve Nash bashing.

...Stupid comment. That's like saying the Raptors would rather build the team around Bosh than Pape (Pape's the obvious choice).
