Nice game for Houston. Although I couldn't watch it, from what I heard and saw of the boxscore, Houston did a fairly good job of limiting Dallas looks. They stopped them defensively as well as step up a bit offensively. McGrady stood out above the rest. From how he's playing the last couple of games, he really wants this team to go far in the playoffs. Some other key players that got the job done for Houston are Mike James, David Wesley, and Ryan Bowen. James and Wesley took some of the load off McGrady and scored a bunch of points while Bowen did a spectacular job on Dirk. The only thing that troubles me is that Yao fouled out- playing just 20 minutes. If Houston is going to win more games- Yao needs to step up sooner or later. Dallas will probably start guarding McGrady more and doubling teaming him so Yao needs to take some of the pressure off him. I really don't see McGrady carrying this team alone. Anyways, great game, can't wait till the next one.
Houston played great defensively and stopped Dirk...I was impressed with our bench as well...Mike James played outta his mind but TMac and Bowen get Co-MVPs...Bowen's defensive work on Dirk was priceless...I love how we won pretty handily despite Yao and Sura having subpar games...great win...this just made my whole weekend ...
I knew the rockets would win this one. We did a great job of holding on to that lead the whole game. Yao was not effective scoring wise but he and mutombo still did an excellent job in the post. I didnt see dirk having such an amazing game. Man, he is gonna bring it on monday. Rockets in 4!!!!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting THE DREAM:</div><div class="quote_post">Normally I'd blame Yao for gettin in foul trouble, but the refs gave him about 4 bad calls tonight.</div> what bad calls exactly did the referee give to yao? i watched the game and as far as i know all Yao's foul are legit. I think he deserved to be fouled out and its just his bad day. Hopefully he can bounce back in game 2
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting THE DREAM:</div><div class="quote_post">Normally I'd blame Yao for gettin in foul trouble, but the refs gave him about 4 bad calls tonight.</div> Agreed. Overall, the reffing this game was pretty bad. There were a lot of suspect calls for both sides. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">WOO HOO!!! Rockets win!!! Bowen did an admiral job on Dirk! Bet that surprised a lot of Maverick fans that said Dirk couldn't be stopped... he got half of his points from the foul line too.</div>I'd thought that Dirk would dominate as well, so it's a huge surprise to me as well. However, being himself, Dirk will definitely get back into scoring 30ppg before this series is over. We lucked out because he missed a fair amount of easy shots today, as his team did too, and I guess he was pretty surprised that McGrady did such a good job on him defensively. He'll come back for Game 2 more prepared though, that's a guarantee.
Did anyone catch the part where Dampier told Yao that "he" was the best center in the league? LOL. what's up with that?
Look at the bright side, Dirk Nowitski went coLD. he was the biggest threat to the rockets and bowen and tmac guarded him well. The rest of the dallas stars to me are hasbeens and rolll players (Stackhouse, Finley, Van Horn, Dampeer). The refs seemed to try to help the mavs, giving them almost 40 fts. We still won comfortably, hope we can keep our resistance going tot he 2nd game and continue our momentum
That's where the chinese comes out in him. We don't need to voice it. We show it. Though Yao wasn't given the chance with the officiating. When someone talks trash to me, I just smile. Then I shove that ball down their throat.

As for the Mavs getting that many free throws, I would believe they deserved it, albeit about five suspect ones. They attacked the basket in the second half, while we hung around on the perimeter. It definitely helped with McGrady, Barry and Wesley hitting their outside shots, but we would need TMac to attack the basket even more in the future, as he probably won't be so hot every game of the series.
I knew we would win. Everybody kept talking about how Houston needed to stop Dirk but no one ever mentioned how Dallas was going to stop Tmac.
the only unreasonable call from the ref i think is the 3 free throws by stackhouse from a 3 pointer "fouled" by mcgrady. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting JuLiO-R-:</div><div class="quote_post">I knew we would win. It was not a good D but it wasn't bad either. But t-mac was just going crazy. I can't remember any t-mac's shot that are not contested. T-mac was just simply on fire shooting the ball with hands on his face. <font color="red">Please use the 'edit' feature, and do not double post. This is your final warning.</font>

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">15. Houston (voted off by Dallas, 4-1) Ever since Juwan Howard went down -- and the beginning of that sentence alone is enough to raise a red flag -- the Rockets have been playing without any power forwards who could even be considered "crappy." So here's my question: Who the hell is guarding Dirk Nowitzki in this series? Clarence Weatherspoon? Ryan Bowen? Vin Baker? Dikembe Mutombo? Scott Padgett? Yao? Roger Clemens? There's a good chance that Dirk could break MJ's scoring record for a five-game series, especially since we just named a German pope who will be rooting for him. And what happens when the Mavs play Nowitzki and the Completely & Totally Rejuvenated Keith Van Horn at the same time? Who does Yao plan on guarding? (Note: I actually think the Mavs are going to KILL the Rockets, save for the one game when T-Mac drops in the neighborhood of 55 to 58 points on them.)</div> I got a chuckle out of that.
really a nice win for us, we limited Dirk for the most part and shut down the Mavs, but i m kind of afraid of Dirk s monster performance on Game 2, he is not ganna back down on just one loss. i expect Tracy and Bowen to play tight defense on Dirk so that he needs to work for his shots.

He was just on fire tonight. But all these NBA Analyst were worried about Dirk. Maybe T-Mac can get a little respect after this great performance.
clutch city baby!! haha i couldnt watch the game had ot listen to it on the radio kinda got annoying cause i had to listen to the radio over all the people in teh backseat.. but i saw part of the game before i left and saw the rockets lead by 10 during the first, and jiudging by what i heard in teh 4th quarter it was kinda hectic. great win overall, and bad officiating from the refs, they should do liek football and look at the replays.

I went back and watched it again to be sure. Still.. that's pretty up front for someone say with his stats.
Damp isn't even as good as Yao's backup. Was game 1 a case of the Rockets playing suberb, or the Mavs playing sub-par? We need to figure out how keep them off the foul line in the next game, because that could really be a killer for us during this series. We can't rely on our perimeter guys to stay this hot throughout the series.
