Celtics up by TWENTY SIX at halftime!!! What have we learned so far? 1) Al Jefferson has got to be the best post player we've had since Kevin McHale, and when the refs aren't calling ticky tack fouls, he can hold his own defensively. 2) Marcus Banks is a point guard now. He led the bench on a 21-3(or even more, I forget) run at the start of the 2nd. 3) Jermaine O'Neal is a PUNK. Simple as that. That sucker shot on Davis proves that he's nothing but a little *****. Then he throws Raef to the floor, as if intentionally nailing Ricky in the face wasn't enough. 4) The young guys are ready to play. I think they've proved their worth at this point. Their energy and enthusiasm totally turned this game around. Thanks Doc. 5) Ricky Davis is electric. How many guys can come off the bench dry and nail shot after shot after shot? He is the definition of sixth man. I have to give him props. 6) The 2nd quarter was one of the best quarters we've played all year. Can we withstand the inevitable run that's coming from the Pacers?
Reggie needs to quit his crying. He's been making the refs look like tools for 18 years and now that he isn't getting any calls he's rolling on the floor crying.
The Celtic's bench has came out firing. Like you said 44, Jefferson may very well be ine if the best post players since McHale. His baby hook is almost unstoppable when he can get his body between the defender and the ball. Banks has really impressed me so far. I didn't know he could play the defense he has. Raef Lafrintz has also impressed me he has hit a few big three-pointers. Davis came off the bench and hit a jumpshot in the first 8 seconds. Boston has had a history of great sixth-men and Davis is one of the best. The Boston defense is getting the job done tonight. They have held Indiana to only 35 points at the beginning of the second half! I'm starting to really beleive that this Celtic's team can make it to the Eastern Conference Finals if they keep playing like this. Boston leads 68-35 with 8:15 in the third quarter. GO CELTICS!!!!
LOL by the end of this game K.Perkins will have 19 points. LOL! 41-76 half way thru the 3rd this game is fading for the pacers like Croshere's hair line!
Lafrintz is flat out shooting the three he has 21 points. Payton has also been more of an offensive threat in the third quarter. The one thing that hasn't impressed me is that Pierce is 0-9 from the field. The Boston bench isn't going to be this successful every night, Pierce needs to get his head on straight and hit his open shots. Btw, Celtics lead 85-56.
Pacers can't score in the second 12... only 11 while allowing 39 points... *throat-cutting motion* Reggie has not attempted a three pointer through 3.5 quarters... and this is playoffs right?
What a win! Great team game tonight. Game 1 recap
Quote:

Say it with me: TEAMS WIN GAMES. DEFENSE WINS GAMES. This is what the Celtics were tonight. We played good defense and we played as a team. The whole team too (everyone say "tanks" to Peter Vecsey who called Doc out for playing everyone the last 2 regular season games instead of trying to ensure meaningless wins. I guess that 39 point 2nd quarter, largely from the bench, was a bad thing from his persective. Thanks Doc for getting the youngins time and being smarter than that perennially pathetic media pundit)

Not much left to say....just a phenomenal game by the Celtics. I can't tell whether Paul and Antoine's shooting woes is a positive or negative thing. I'll take the positive side of it and say that we DESTROYED the Pacers without a good game from our 2 best players. Credit to the C's defense(like white on rice). Raef was......WOW! (5/5 from 3) I was confident, but I never thought it would be like this!
That was as impressive a win as the Celtics have had in years. After coming out flat in the first quarter the second unit really opened things up. With all the questions about how the young guys would handle the playoff pressure, it turned out that they were the ones that came out ready to play and the vets were the ones who were tight. Absolutly great games from Al and Banks. I'm going with Thrilla and take the positive spin that they won going away despite the tough shooting night from Paul and Toine, though both should get credit for filling up the box scores in other ways and keeping their heads in it. My only point of critisism on the night: things got awfully chippy and the Celtics can not get caught up in that kind of stuff, cause the young guys will not get the benefits that the vets will. Reggie Miller was pulling all sorts of... I'll be polite and say 'crafty' stuff like grabbing Raef's hand as he was running by to spin him away from his man. And that stuff wasn't called, but Perk gets called for a flagrant on not that hard of a foul. I'm saying now that some one is going to get ejected in this series, and I just hope its not one of our guys in a critical situation. Great first win. Lets hope they keep in mind that there are 3 more wins they have to get.

He's of the mold of guys like Stockton, who can literally drive you crazy during a game with all the subtle holding, elbow jabs, etc. He knows how to get into people's heads and sell fouls. I don't like the guy, but he's mastered his craft, in those respects. I hoping that the youngins see the manner in which Reggie conducted himself last night as mostly just desperation from a guy who sees the end coming too soon. I think game 2, they'll still be ok, as it'll take a big game from Reggie and probably a win by the Pacers in order for Uncle Reggie to get into thier heads. Let's just hope this blowout doesn't prompt a let down from us, as the Pacers are still a dangerous team. I actually like the fact that 'Toine and Paul didn't have great offensive games (the rest of their game made up for it, as they played team ball and did the little things). It's highly unlikely that they'll have those kind of tough shooting game on Monday.
I was at the game and the place was going crazzzy..Larry Bird was actually clapping for the CELTICS (shouldn't he be clapping for his Pacers??) They played great defense, and the offense wasn't to shabby either. Al Jefferson and Davis probably got the biggest ovations. The whole team was hustling. I was happy to see Doc put in the rookies in the 4th they played great and its good experience for them, I wonder how Indy felt about that though? The crowd booed Reggie every time he touched the ball, I think they were sick and tired of him thinking he can get away with playing dirty simply because he is a veteran...And Thrilla is right, O'neil is just a punk, who pokes Ricky Davis in the eye??? If the Celtics play like this for the rest of the series, I see a sweep ahead! Not to get carried away.
Talk about No Mercy, good stuff by the Celts. Thanks god it wasn't the 76ers. That beat down was worse than ours. lol
Being a Pistons fan I was quite happy with the beating that boston put on indiana.. hopefully it will continue and the Celtics will pull it out, it was a great game they played!
