Where the hell did he pull that from?

Shieky will be sleeping boastfully tonight, hopefully he can continue it throughout the series, particularly with Miller missing the first two games.

What's the deal with James? I've seen a total of maybe five or six Sonics games this season, and he didn't look too bad. In fact, against Memphis earlier he had 22 pts. I had no idea he was only averaging 5/3 and would have never expected that 12 rbs was a career high for him. I'm glad to see him pulling it together for the playoffs though. His effort has been amazing tonight. Perhaps he's always been this talented and is just now putting forth the effort because it's the playoffs?

Like I've always said, we need to resign him ASAP, great lost post moves, menacing low post defender and a demon on the boards.

    5yrs/48 million.

    It's a bird, it's a plane, no....It's Big Game James.

Any more convincing that he is our best low post option. He played like a man in the 2002 postseason and it looks as if he's ready to do the same this postseason. Without his efforts tonight we'd be down 0-1 so I think it's time for JJ to start getting some love in this forum

    Six games to get three.

Again, I haven't seen him play as much as the people in this forum, but looking at his game log, I can't see why everyone's so high on him. Yes, he had a great game tonight, but why didn't he play like that during the season? His first game where he got ten or more points was on December 14th, twenty-three games in to the season, and the first game where he got ten or more rebounds was... never... he didn't get more than ten rebounds all season. I know statistics can be deceiving. Why is he now playing like a beast all of a sudden, or at least putting up better stats?

The stats aren't there b/c the minutes aren't there. McMillian normally played Jerome the first half of the first and third quarters and buried him on the bench for the duration of the game. We have two guys, Fortson and Collison, that have played well as a back up center. This has also caused Jerome to get limited minutes.

Jerome takes nights off, also. Sometimes he gets into early foul trouble and sometimes he would rather set ball screens than sit down and become a post up threat. It has always seemed to me that whenever he got the ball in the post that he got a high percentage shot (except when he plays against Shaq or Yao). He just rarely gets the ball b/c our team isn't used to passing the ball into anyone not named Sweet Lew in the post.

The playoffs are more of a grind it out type of game and if we are going to be successful we have to develop a lost post presence and get some opportunities from dribble penetration. Jerome has shown that he is capable of getting buckets in the post. Now we need to be able to find other ways of getting high percentage shots.

The minutes aren't there because he consistently gets himself into foul trouble, don't try to reflect this one negatively on Nate.

I was just joking around since my stance in the Free Agency thread was anti-JJ but he shut me up for one night.

Game Two is the big question - can he follow up with no Brad Miller?

Don't get me wrong, I love Jerome tonight, but any idea that he's some sort of monster down low is ridiculous. He finally shot a few (literally a few) jump hooks tonight. Hopefully he'll continue that. I'm not going to list all his negatives, because they don't matter now. All that matters is that he keeps putting forth the effort he did tonight.

It's not the scoring that impressed me, as he ended up taking over 20 shots for the first time in his career.

It's the rebounding, given his previous season high was seven!! Five blocks helps, too.

When your starting centre and power forward combine for 16 offensive boards and 30 overall, you're generally going to give the opposition problems.

His best play was when he tipped an offensive rebound, missed, jumped again (I repeat, Jerome James jumped AGAIN) and slammed it home on the fly.

He had a great game last night and I think he will start getting more love around the L if he keeps this up. I think when it comes to free agency time he will be pullin in some big bucks since theyre arent too many quality big men these days.

Looks like I'm not the only one intoxicated by Big Game James' 1st round demolition of Sac

    http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/spor...205_soni25.html

The interesting things are that Ray and Rashard have both been openly critical of JJ. I didn't know that:

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"Jerome James should opt out of his contract. ... No one here likes him. ... We all wish he would leave." </div>

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I had already been in a tiff with Ray and I went from being one of Rashard Lewis' most liked to being somebody he barely talked to and I could understand why," James said. "Sometimes you got to look at yourself, man. It ain't always everybody else. Sometimes, it's you." </div>

    I liked this quote...

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">After a season of bickering with management, coaches and teammates, James said he realized this: "You can't war with them and your opponents. You got to make love to somebody."</div>
Note how he used "make love" instead of "love".
