For the playoffs the Sonics games will always be on at least 2 channels. I'm just curious if you guys stick with the FSN announcers, or if you swich over to ESPN/TNT/NBATV. Personally I watch the games on FSN, because Collabro is the man. The only thing I don't like is Craig Ehlo. Craig Ehlo seriously makes it hard to pay attention to the game, he's completely moroic. A couple weeks ago vs Denver he said "The Nuggets have really made a 360 degree turnaround", lol. Anyway, what station do you guys watch?
I generally watch FSN but I'll watch the ESPN/TNT crew for the national perspective sometimes - I like Legler and Kerr particularly for color commentary. Collarbero is great, he gets excited on great plays on either side. Like you said though Ehlo is a buffoon, he starts all his comments with 'When I was playing....' Ehlo when you were playing Jordan was using you as highlight fodder. Against Minny the Sonics were playing horrible and missing in the 1st half and he kept saying over and over how we needed to pound the ball inside and not take the outside shot. In the 2nd half we start hitting our 3's and pull the game out; after the game he says 'The Sonics were smart they didn't get discouraged and continued playing their outside game knowing they'd eventually fall'. Just another example of his ineptitude. Plus he needs to learn new adjectives rather than 'just awesome' 'just unbelievable' (He does seem like a decent guy, though) I really miss Billy McKinney he and KC had a great rapport that was fun to listen to. So other than that, I like FSN just fine
I have no really say in this discussion because I don't get FSN and I'm not a Sonics fan...But, I have to say, that the play by play man on FSN (Collabro) is one of the best in the NBA.
Callabro's commentary is unparalled. I, like Roland, occasionally check ESPN/TNT for the national perspective but I FSN's broadcast is where it's at.
As much as I love Calabro, I got to go with TNT. TNT probably has the best mix of basketball commentators ever assembled. Anytime you can get a combination of Kevin Harlen, John Thompson, and Rex Chapman analyzing a game you know that you are doing something right. When you have Charles and company in the studio, David Aldridge doing sideline reporting, and guys like Marv Albert and Steve Kerr doing play by play you know that you are getting quality information. I'm not impressed at all with the coverage by ESPN. Guys like Tom Tolbert have no business being heard by a national audience. Ehlo is outrageously bad. I don't live in Seattle so I couldn't get FSN for these playoff games anyway. I probably would try to listen to KJR if Billy McKinney was still in dodge but for whatever reason Howard felt as if his services weren't needed. Probably the only mistake we've made this season.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Iron Shiek:</div><div class="quote_post">Guys like Tom Tolbert have no business being heard by a national audience.</div> He is there purely for comic relief.
I will be at tonight's game, but if I were home, tonight I would be watching ESPN <<editorial, but then I would have missed the game, since it was on TNT>>. Calabro is the best, but as a hoops fan I am disgusted that an early, regular season baseball game is pre-empting or, at best, split screened with Game 2 of round 1 on FSN. No respect.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Pwn3d!:</div><div class="quote_post"> He is there purely for comic relief.</div> Tom Tolbert is a clown. He was a clown when he played and he's a clown on TV. I had a friend that played with him at 'Zona and he told me his nick in college was 'Horsehead' <div class="quote_poster">Quoting psheehy:</div><div class="quote_post">I will be at tonight's game, but if I were home, tonight I would be watching ESPN. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Roland Hood:</div><div class="quote_post">Tom Tolbert is a clown. He was a clown when he played and he's a clown on TV.</div> "Amare Stoudemire reminds me of a young Shawn Kemp." "Really? He reminds me more of a young Tom Tolbert."

Barkley is as fun to listen to in the analysis as he was to watch play the game. Add Magic's occasional appearances for an extra touch of class. Magic is just a winner in every respect.
Ok, now FSN decides not to bother airing Game 3 at all since they had a Mariner game scheduled for Friday night. Again...no respect. Let's show a mediocre baseball team's meaningless early season game instead of the WINNING basketball team's first playoff game on the road. Good news is that FSN will still produce the broadcast and Kong 6/16 will carry it, so all you locals without cable will actually get to SEE the game.

The guy is the definition of a class act and his presence at any NBA event is a reminder of how great the game of basketball can be played and why we watch. Truly one of the greatest players ever to step on the hardwood.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Basketball or baseball? Fox Sports Net decided to go with the Mariners over the SuperSonics on Friday. FSN announced Game 3 of the Seattle SuperSonics? first-round playoff series with the Kings in Sacramento at 7:30 p.m. is being moved to KONG-TV in order to show the Mariners? game in Oakland that starts at 7:05 p.m. FSN will still handle the production of the game, meaning the broadcast team of Kevin Calabro and Craig Ehlo will remain the same as will all aspects of the coverage. Another conflict would arise Tuesday should the Sonics series be extended to Game 5. If that game?s needed, the Mariners? 7:05 p.m. home game against the Angels would be moved to KSTW-TV. The Sonics? 7:30 p.m. game would be shown on FSN. If the Sonics sweep the series, the Mariners would then remain on FSN. FSN also said if Tuesday?s Mariners game in Texas had run long, they would have used a split screen to show both games. The Mariners game, however, finished just before the opening tip.</div> Source

He has some good points occasionally especially when it involves anything about the mental aspect of winning. Dissecting a game and explaining trends to the fans...I dunno I think Kenny Smith is far better when it comes to that.

I like his perspective in the post season. He understands that winner's intangible quality. However, I really just like seeing him around the game. He gave a speech at one of our company's meetings, thanking us for support of his foundations technology initiatives in urban communities. He was just fun to listen to.
Well yeah but that doesn't preclude him from making game analyses at halftime. Anyway, I really wish I could get NBA classics on TV. I love those old Boston-LA championship series. Seriously was there ever an assemblage of all time talent on the court at one time? Magic, Bird, Kareem, McHale and then Parish, Worthy, McAdoo (totally underrated player how he didn't get top 50 is a friggin joke). Cooper, DJ, Walton. My goodness. By the way Kenny Smith made an interesting comment about playing with Hakeem. He said if one guard had a great game, the other knew he'd get some chances next game. So if he had 25pts in game 1, Sam Cassell would get all happy knowing game 2 he'd get lots of chances.
