Be patient with me, because I have a point to make about Kevin Garnett that I truly believe. There are a lot of players in the league that have different roles that make them special. There are some players that have exceptional talents and are extremely gifted with athletics, defensive stoppers, "energy players", guys who are vocal in the locker room and contribute that way. The way that I see Garnett is that he is gifted athletically, is an intense person, and has a lot of heart. It's hard for me to portray this picture accurately, I'll say it like this, Garnett can inspire others with his work-ethic, intensity, heart, and desire??but he may not be the leader that we try to make him. I believe that Garnett CANNOT become as great as the greatest because I don't believe that he can exude that "Killer Instinct" in others. He is too unselfish. He just is. Instead of viewing it as "let's get our leader some help", maybe we should "get our heart a leader". Cassell is the type of player that Garnett needs. If Sam wasn't so ME and old I would love to keep him. It seems like we got our McHale looking for a Bird- Worthy looking for a Johnson-Pippen looking for our Jordan, per se. This next season will be the ultimate test.
I think you have a arguement here but i'm not gonna agree or disagree with you. Ill just state my opinion. after that whole Marbury thing combined with the death if Malik Sealy. It changed the way he approaches his teammates. He hasnt been tight with a teammate since 2000 (Sealys death). I think the guy is afraid(not of balling), Its something in his mind thats detatches himself from his team. You could Take this all the way back to Ronnie Fields(HighSchools teammate) Who he lost to the a Rape scandal. Its seems Like when he befriends somone it ends in Heartbreak or tragety. That could be a factor. Facts On Ronnie Fields Height: 6'3" Weight: 185 lbs Hometown: Chicago, Illinois High School: Chicago Farragut Academy Ronnie Fields was a high school legend. People came from all over Illinois to watch him and his 48 inch vertical. Fields would throw down crazy dunks every game. He also averaged 32 ppg in his senior year. Ronnie drew a lot of attention, and had many accomplishments: USA-Today All American, Parade All-American, Three-time Illinois All-State, Nike All-Star Team, Proviso West Holiday Tournament MVP, Mr.Basketball of Illinois and many more. A back injury, bad grades, and off-court activities kept him from getting into Depaul College. Ronnie played overseas, but he's back and he was a final cut of the 01/02 NJ Nets. Ronnie Fields dunked over a guy, in a game, in high school, before Vince did...But he didn't get any props outside of Illy. Heres Ronnie breaking the backboard AT 16 finishing a wind mill.
Did you read Sam Smith's article today because your post reminds me of it. Article It is true that KG's leadership skills are overrated by some people but he still is a great leader. And there are different kinds of leaders. One of his problems are that he is too talented in everything. It sometimes makes him settle on jump shots rather than trying to get easier shots. But it's not all bad. We can praise and criticize KG's unselfishness, but it does have positive and negative affects. I have to disagree with you on KG cannot be considered one of the greatest. He isn't right now but I think what seperates him from being truly great is a championship. We'll always question great players when they are losing but when he starts winning again, he'll be considered again as one of the best players in the world.

The guys he should belong to is the Magic's, Jordan's, and Bird's. Right now...he's with the Wilkin's and Barkley's (He made it to the finals). As you can see, Garnett is one of my favorites in the game (not just because he's on the Wolves) and I would hate to see him in the ranks of a Barkley. He has too much heart for that. I don't think he is not one of the best players in the world, but there are alot of great single players who will not receive accolades because it's a "team" game.

If he wins a couple of rings, then he will achieve greatness. I just can't see him not winning at least one championship. He has the talent and skills, he just needs the team to surround him with the right players.
Kinda offtopic but I LOVE KG. he's a lot like one of my fave players, chris bosh. they both cried after losing a game, right?? KG has a lot of heart and passion. its hard to find players like him.
Saber: I can't disagree with you on what you said. Bob Sansevere, columnist for the St. Paul Pioneer Press, mentioned the same things about KG that you are mentioning.
