Seeing as how Caron has proved himself to be a worthy competitor, i would like to pose a few questions to discuss.

Will the lakers trade him? OR Will they sign him new contract?

Who will he be traded to/for? OR How much/How many years will his new contract be for?

I think the Lakers will hold on to him, and sign him a 4yr/45 mil contract.

    Discuss.

45 might be too much, I also don't think Caron is money hungry. He is happy here in L.A., he and Kobe have a great relationship, why ruin that over money?

It all depends on a few things. Firstly, next season. Sure, he had a solid season this year, but what does he do for a curtain call? He's got to perform next year, and players tend to do that in contract years (see Erick Dampier) in order to get the money. The next thing is the coaching situation. Whoever they bring in, he'll have to see eye to eye with, at least on the court. If that doesn't work, it's gonna mess up team chemistry, something the Lakers have to figure out for next year anyways. Last thing will be his potential trade value on the market. If he does well enough, the Lakers might look in to a sign and trade situation to bring in someone that they may need more than Caron. Those are the key factors, to me, in determining as to whether or not he's gonna be with the organization.

i think lakers will keep caron unless if they do a trade with a real good player like kg then they could put him on the trade

Caron Butler should make in the 6-7 million range, no more. The Lakers aren't going to trade for KG, Minnesotta isn't going to take anything short of Kobe for him, so that's kind of out of the question.

I think 4 years 28 million is a suiting contract for Caron Butler.

ya, i kinda went overboard with the 4yr/45 mil contract.. as og15 said, 4yr/28 mil is enough for him.

However, with Captain Cupcake at the helm anything can happen, including a KG trade, or a major contract signing.

Caron is a "HEART" type player. He has tons of heart, and hes as gifted as just about any 3 in the game (not on the level of a peirce,KG,TMac) but he is a very good peice to a LA puzzle for other reasons.

    1. He's so young.
    2. Talented at the 3 and 2 if need be.
    3. He is a positive young player and doesnt mind playing with a superstar.
    4. In my opinion, and this is neither here...nor there, but had he been the 5th man last year at the 3, with KB8,Shaq,GP n Karl......only 6 letters come to mind... D.A.N.G.E.R.

Anyways, i said it when all of the boozer trade talks were rampant. KEEP CARON! He has tons of upside, once he gets over trying to dunk on everyone every baseline drive (which isint really a bad thing, but sometimes the contact AND1 is better then a faciel).

From my perspective, the lakers will not be looking to trade caron butler, as far as contracts are concerned, caron is not sprewell. But anyways the lakers will resign him for 7 years $27M.

27mil sounds right, LA needs to focus on swindling Grant's landmine....hes a good player with heart IMO, but not worth the bills he recieves....
