<div align="center"> <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Detroit News - Allen Iverson became the latest victim at the Palace of Auburn Hills. This time an unidentified fan hit the Sixers guard with a quarter. Iverson spoke briefly with Auburn Hills police and Palace security. Teammate Chris Webber witnessed the incident and pointed the fan out to security officials who immediately rushed over and detained him. It has been an embarassing season for Pistons' fans, who in November began a brawl after a fan threw a cup of beer at Ron Artest and when the Pacers returned to Detroit several months later, there were multiple bomb threats</div> Source</div> I'm quite sure that Stern will do something about it.
Detroit fans need to grow up. Sure it is just a quarter, but has anyone ever been hit by one thrown hard? It doesn't feel to good.
High tensions always bring out the worst in people, although I wish people would act more civil, it only takes one jerk to screw things up. There's not too much Stern can do about the root of the problem, although he can try to help out by hiring more security, possibly limiting alcohol consumption and lecturing Detroit and its fans about proper sportsmanship.
damn another sorry incident in Detroit, . When will they learn? This is just wrong throwing a quarter WHICH DOES REALLY HURT when thrown at a player is another step over the line and in the WRONG direction
ya detroit fans need to stop this no1 wants a repeat of what happened vs. indiana. Maybe teams should look into those plexy glass boundaries if this keeps up. Players need to be safe. Even if it is just a quarter. these fans have to stop.
It was one fan, just like It was one fan that started the brawl. People really need to stop labelling this as If It's all Piston fans as whole. There was a player who got hit by a coin last week but no one made a thing about It. There are idiots for every team but because of what happened in november, anything that happens in Detroit is headline news.
wow i am tired of this already!! some ppl can be suck pigs sometimes. GROW UP!!!!!!!!!!. Detroit security should punish fans who do that. if they became stricter then the fans will think twice b4 throwin somethin
The NBA always says that they will put more security but apparently its not working to will is it. GROW UP ALREADY!!!
Maybe it's the same punk a** dude that threw a cup to Artest. I'm wondering if he threw that to provoke Iverson to fight him so Iverson will be out for the series...
Is it pure coincidence that "the fight" and this quarter throwing incident happened in Detroit? I don't think so. If it did happen in arena's all over the NBA then I'm sure that there would be publicity of some sort on it as well. But it hasn't happened anywhere else but Detroit. I'm sure that not all of their fans are like this but lets not paint them as victims of bad press just yet.

It really annoys me to no end when a fan says something like, "When will (Detroit fans) learn?". Incidents like this happen everywhere, not just in Detroit. To generalize and call out Pistons fans is just plain ignorant. Howcome this stuff is almost ignored and/or encouraged on the college level, yet when it happens in an NBA game it becomes headline news? Fans at schools like Maryland, Duke, North Carolina, Missouri, Kansas, Michigan State, etc. will go to great lengths to get into the opposing player's head, and you rarely hear about it. I'm not talking about little things like throwing quarters either. I'm talking about insults and threats against family members, spitting, stalking, etc. I found it interesting that when Shane Battier was interviewed about the way the Suns fans jeered him in the Suns/Grizzlies first round matchup last Sunday, he more or less shrugged it off and said that the stuff he put up with from Maryland fans was much worse, and included derogatory chants, throwing batteries, and spitting on him.
The NBA and David Stern will do something about this, because it is the second time this has happened in Detroit and it's made headlines. There will be a knee jerk reaction to this and someone is going to be made an example out of. Unfortunately, the actions by one person is going to effect all the Detroit fans. Looking ahead, the Pistons will face either the Pacers or Celtics. The Pistons-Pacers brawl is still fresh in the minds of the 'unruly' fans from both sides, and some Celtic fans have been known to get rowdy. In the minds of David Stern and the NBA, it's a recipe for disaster in Round 2.
Man, these players complain about wanting more money all the time, but once they get it, they freak out. j/p, but yeah, getting hit with a quarter hurts bad, I wouldn't want that happening to me.
Sports fans will be sports fans. They`ll always try to put in their 2 cents somehow(joke) Just thankfully is wasn`t anything like the brawl, AI kept his composure. I heard earlier that Iverson and Webber later reported it to Detroit officials.
To follow up what WC was talking about with Battier <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Battier, who played in many hostile arenas when he was a star at perennial NCAA powerhouse Duke, said being the bad guy is nothing new for him. "Trust me, I've had worse," Battier said before the Grizzlies practiced Tuesday morning at America West Arena. "I've had worse in Maryland, where they threw batteries, ice chips and pennies at me."</div> Link It just goes to show how little is done when you compare the college level to the NBA. A few players were also taunted by their father being in jail (Wayne Seimon) and Chris Paul's grandfather who was killed. If they are going to try and push hard to stop things like this, It has to be the same at all levels of basketball.
This kind of stuff happens often, I mean in baseball some fans throw batteries and coins into the outfield. I just think this whole issue was blown up by the media because it took place in Detroit. If he was seriously hurt then it would be a different story but at most he would have felt a love tap.
I'm sorry, but I really despise Detroit fans. First the brawl, which could have been avoided had they not thrown things at the players. Then someone makes a bomb threat when Indiana comes back for the first time, and then they frigging throw quarters at AI, who is like one of the least egotistical and cocky guys in the game of basketball. So you might say that's not the Pistons fans a whole. Well, back in 2001 or something they booed the Canadian anthem because of that incident that happened with the soldiers in Iraq..i forgot what happened but i think canadian soldiers accidentally killed american soldiers or the other way around?? i agree, they need to grow up. id be embarrassed if toronto acted that way. if that quarter hit AI in the head or something..geez. hes been injured more than any other player and he doesnt need that crap.
but <div class="quote_poster">Quoting CourtKing:</div><div class="quote_post">This kind of stuff happens often, I mean in baseball some fans throw batteries and coins into the outfield. I just think this whole issue was blown up by the media because it took place in Detroit.</div> Of course it was blown up but the difference is that they know that they know they are being watched carefully and that they are under the microscope and they still did it. They should know that they are going to be held to a different standard than other teams because of the brawl. Look at Ron Artest. Do you remember either last year or two years ago when he was on the bench and went to run onto the court but stopped. He was still punished for leaving the bench which isnt allowed but other players wouldnt have been but he was held to a different standard because of his history.
