well seeing as to how its playoff time adn some people cant watch the game and miss some of the highlights, and miss some of the most exhilirating plays and bad ones too... what do you guys think about having a chatroom during a game that way we can share insights about the game, tell peopel who cant watch teh game whats happening and things of that sort, me i think that would actually be pretty cool because seeing how some of the rockets fans that cant watch the games we can share a discussion and tell them whats happening what calls what great plays are happening. what do you guys think?
I think it would be an interesting thing for JustBBall to look into for next year. I don't think they have the chatroom software setup at this time, though.
How about an AIM chatroom? That'd be cool to watch the game with other Rockets fans cause I haven't met that many here in Los Angeles
That would be a good idea cheeno. Having a live chat would certainly benefit those who were not able to access live NBA tv action by keeping them informed of the highlights. It would be much better if someone can send video clips to make it more realistic and exciting. Who know justbball.com might have these in the near future.
well at the moment im lookign around at different places where chat sites are offered.. im thinking about hosting a room in mIRC but i dont know how to use that program. we could open up a aim chatroom each night of the game, but then again alot of people do not have the aim software, same thing applies with MSN. lets put our heads together and see what we can find out if not anything ill try to learn how to use the mIRC software because i used to play counterstrike and the gaming league required you to have a mIRC chatroom but if you guys come up with anything we will see.
I'll mention this to the admins. Having a chat will be nice, but if we use AIM, it would be hard to get everyone's SN as they can't post it on the regular boards. If they did, guests could just take them and spam them via AIM. Definitely we don't want. Installing a Java chatroom or something would work. I'll get back to you guys on this once I get a reply from an admin.
I think the AIM deal would work...what if we just posted it among those in the Rockets lounge, or possibly as well as consistent, intelligent posters in the Rockets forum?
Yep, we ignore anything else in life to concentrate on the game, we are quite superstitious as well, things like getting Buzzer to say BOGUS ****** ***** when we're down by double digits or T-Mac is playing poorly, I remember one game against the LA Lakers where I was trying to be as pesimisstic as I could be and Buzzer was trying to be really optimistic and we ended up coming real close to victory after a 3rd quarter comeback, we eventually lost but it was alot of fun looking back on it now... Oh and yeah good idea, I have MSN I don't mind downloading AIM there was another thing a while ago that you could have special members join your club and you could even download videos off them at the same time by exploring their name..can't remember what it was called though, Friendster maybe...
Yeah its fun watching or talking about games with someone rather than alone. Gives it a better atmosphere and we can discuss anytime we want.
Well from the overwhelming respond from the majority of the ppl, it seems that AIM is easiest, simplest solution so far. Yes a java IRC chatroom would be ideal, but for now, AIM should be ok. For those that don't know, you can go to www.aim.com and register/download the latest AIM software. It takes like 5 minutes to install, the program itself is very simple and easy to use. Now as to the screenname privacy issue, we can just have a sticky in the Rockets Lounge section with all our screennames posted. That way, nobody else but us can see it. Easy solution there. I'll start the screenname list thread.
i just downloaded mIRC and kinda learned how to use it i thin its a good idea fi we dont want to be spammed ill post more later bt now its time for school!

Shooter, all the consistent intelligent posters are already in here, or at least have access to it. I'll add them as more sign up.
well mIRC is a very small program abou 1.8mb in size, very easy to use, i think it would be a good place to have a chat room hosted. we can decide tonight in teh aim chatroom if we should continue to use AIM or switch over to mIRC.. another thing with mIRC is that it has admin availible with the chatroom great idea for the spammers that might invade, or just great to have. and the another hting is you wont have to flood out. but im testing it out and so far i have plan on having setting a channel for us and have Trip or with someone who has a almost 24/7 connection. but for tonight we could sign on aim and decide tonight during halftime or whatnot.

When I was living in my previous apartment, mIRC worked on and off. It depends on which server I get on. Now, where I live, it would not let me get on at all. For various random reasons that I don't really understand.. it might be because of firewall but there's also something about you have to register your nickname in the server? I don't know... Anyways, I'm still for AIM because it is the simplest program of all and simple means less problems, but I'll do whatever everyone wants to . But if I can't connect, someone has to help me!!
HHHHMMMM. I don't have AIM, only MSN, and none of my friends have AIM either so I wouldn't really like to DL it, but for the sake of JBB I might go ahead and do that. Ideally, the Java Chat application would be the best. Maybe something for next season. Trip, have "the powers that be' got back to you about this idea yet?
At the moment, we are not actively pursuing a built in chatroom for this site however this option if defintely in this site's plans in the future. For now you will have to use AIM or something off this site if you wish to have a chat.
i think we should use mIRC guys, its a easy to use chat program and its great if you want to have a whole load of peopel without laggin some chat rooms. get back with me with this idea because i can register a channel for this lounge seeing that it is free.
