Rockets showing signs of the times <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Megan Manfull - Houston Chronicle:</div><div class="quote_post">As if the Rockets weren't flashy enough with Dikembe Mutombo's finger wagging, Tracy McGrady's exaggerated expressions and Jon Barry's mini-dances, a new "secret" hand signal has been added to their repertoire. Bob Sura and Barry flashed the Rockets' latest celebratory sign in Game 1 and brought it back for Game 2 of their first-round series with Dallas. The most notable time came Monday in the fourth quarter, when Sura knocked down his second consecutive 3-pointer to cut the Mavericks' lead to two at 109-107. Sura bent at the waist, stretched out his arm and looked toward the Rockets' bench while waving his hand. He had his thumb and index finger forming a circle and his other three fingers outstretched. It's similar to the 3-point symbol Walt Williams used to flash over his head, except the Rockets aim it closer to the floor. The reserves responded to Sura by jumping to their feet and flashing the symbol back at him.</div>Sura Flashing the New Hand Sign
Damn team chemistry must be real good. This is such a great team. We play together and celerate together, sign of a great team. I'm gonna be doing it in the next game if it's on TV lol.
Yeah I love it! It gives this team a cockiness and edge that we need...this year could turn out to really be something special...
Jon Barry was on the radio this morning and talked about how after practice JVG was like, "And what the hell is with this?! (mimes the hand gesture)" And the team was all laughing about it. Then Van Gundy just rolled his eyes and called them a bunch of Damon Jones wannabes. I thought that was pretty funny.
Hehehe, it reminds me of the clippers from 2 or 3 seasons ago when Q-Rich and Darius Miles, and Maggette would do the hron thing. Q-Rich did it with 3 fingers in the air, much like this rockets sign but bouncing on his head. I noticed he still does it in Phoenix. I started to like the Clippers because of their charisma at the time. I think the Rockets may be gaining more fans this way because it make them more entertaining and fun to watch. The sign gets the crowd and the bench going, and even if it doesn't help out with the JVG defense, its a real morale booster.
Yeah, and this also shows how close the players are and how they are enjoying themselves. A team that plays together wins together and this is a good sign of what our team chemistry is like. The fans love this sort of team spirit and attitude and I'm enjoying the comraderie as well.
thats a good point kingrex....winning and chemistry both have to evolve out of each other...its really a matter of timing...going back to the sign thing - its ok with me as long as its in moderation - Personally, Q's "three bump on the head thing" is the single most irritating thing in the NBA right now. I cringe when he does it..every single time he scores he does some form of it....I guess maybe he thinks Brandy digs it.
Ok, Its awesome that there is so much team chemistry in our team now, it also really gets the fans involved, but honestly, does anyone else think it looks kinda wierd, i'm all for the team using some kind of hand signal, but from the pictures i've seen, Bob Sura looks really..well stupid doing it, well actually now that I think about its quite funny...It looks like he's flicking something, just can't imagine me playing a game, hitting a three then running down the court with that hand signal lmao!

If you saw when barry hit his 3rd three all of the players in the bench did the same finger signal and waved it a little bit. But it will be a lot cooler if JVG also does the hand signal everytime we hit a three.. lol.
I think it's pretty cool. I also thought when I saw the three fingers that Sura was holding that it stood for the third championship for this franchise. Something like a promise of one this season. Anyone think alike?
I must admit it is pretty cool. It definently shows a bond between the players, which is one of the major components of the means of successful chemistry. Chemistry of course is an enormous part of winning it all, and the way Houston is playing right now it wouldn't be a huge surprise to me if they make it to the finals. Fantastic team work, and really great passing. I love their style right now. I hope they can keep this up, it's a real joy to watch.

speaking of little hand gestures or whatever, I love how T-Mac is getting so into the games now. I hope he ends up using this intensity in every game from now on, it keeps everyone motivated I think.
