Heres how we'll do this. I'll list the top 10 free agents in each position (in no particular order) then choose the ones that you would want the Cavs to at least think about signing this offseason. Then set the 12-man roster for next year. Keep in mind salaries. *denotes a restricted FA

Heres who Cavs should consider....

PG
Jaric, Daniels, Dickau, Williams
I really don't think the Cavs need to be wasting their money on a great PG which is good because there aren't any on this list. We can get by with an "average" PG that can get the ball up the floor, get it to LeBron and penetrate every once in a while. Obiously J-Mac is gone but I'd like to see Snow stick with. Cavs fans saw how he ran the show in crunch time and last month of season and thats the reason we got him for in the first place. He be a good bench PG and his vet skills could groom a young guy such as Jaric or Dickau. I think we should get either Daniels who can shoot the 3, Dickau who is pretty unsteady on D but can penetrate and dish, or JayWill who we can get for cheap but would be a huge liability but one Id take the chance on especially with Snow still on the team.

SG
Allen, Redd, Hughes, Johnson, Jackson
Im a little hesitant to get Allen just because he's getting up there in age although I wouldn't be disappointed if we ended up with him. Allen can shoot AND has solid D. Redd can get his shot anywhere and anytime but look for the Bucks to throw "Trump-like" money at him. I would love Hughes who is fast, gets in the passing lane, is an avg 1on1 defensive guy, can hit the open J AND play the point. Johnson is the wild card on the list. Some people see him as the #1 guy we should be looking at and others don't even see him. I think he could excel as a #2 option with LBJ. Bobby Jackson would be a solid guy off the bench. I would persue JJ and Redd first with Hughes closely behind but if we sign any PG from above I dont think Hughes is an option anymore.

SF
Korver, Simmons, Radmanovic
I could see Korver as a huge pick-up but very unlikely Philly will let him go easily and I don't think he is worth the $ as some of the FA SGs. Simmons is interesting but I hear he is a selfish player and I don't think he is polished enough to start for us and he wouldn;t want to come off the bench. Radmanovic is another nice shooter with size and could fit well with us as well. That being said I don't see us getting any of these players.

PF
Chandler, Swift, Marshal
First let me say that I am a Gooden supporter (should NOT read Gooden fan). He certainly had a good season but is still very inconsistent and I have yet to find any evidence that he actually has a brain. That being said I can see him being traded along with Sasha for Swift and a draft choice. Whether Gooden is here or not we better be one of the teams looking to get Chandler. His stock continues to rise and he is a good defender whos offensive game is still improving. I can deal with a defensive C in our type of system we will have with LeBron and JJ/Redd and wait to see if his offensive game ever does bloom. However the Bulls will probably resign Chandler and leave Curry and his recent heart problems left to find another suitor

C
Curry, Dalembert, James
Seems as though most Cavs fans are split right down the middle as to whether we should resign Z or not. I could go either way. I certainly enjoy watching him play and would love to have him but on the other hand he is a defensive liability and a younger more athletic C would fit us better. If we dont have Z look for us to court Dalembert very hard as will the Hawks but look for stern competition also from Philly. Depending on how Korvers contract goes, we might be able to steal Sam for a reasonable price. If we dont get Chandler or Sam-D we most certainly will get Curry which could be a good thing as long as he doesnt break our hearts(pun certainly intended).

Cavs 05/06 Roster
Starters
PG-Williams
SG-Joe Johnson
SF-LeBron
PF-Gooden
C-Dalembert

Bench
Snow
Jackson
Av
Pavlovic
Haslem
