<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Before Game 3, I got a call from another official in the NBA who's not in the playoffs that I've known forever, and he told me they were looking at Yao harder because of Mark's complaints. It proved prophetic, really, the last couple games. I didn't think that really worked in the NBA, but in this case it has."

Cuban, who described Van Gundy as an "amazing coach," said the Mavericks have asked the league to review examples of Yao and Dikembe Mutombo setting screens but that the Rockets' centers have actually gotten away with fouls that have not been called against them.----</div>

I don't like Mark because of this either. Hes an owner. Hes supposed to write the checks and thats it. But because hes a fan 1st he's into the game alot more than other owners. And because hes a fan of high power he feels that he can use that power to complain. Alot of bad calls go both ways in basketball. If anyone could call the league to review someones play I guarantee the fans would call every night. Mark is just a baby that wont let the game be called like it should be. Let the refs do their job and you just shut up and watch the game. Next thing you know Mark will be complaining that the Suns run too fast, or Denver has an unfair homecourt, or Shaq is too big. I think the Rockets should complain to the league that Owners shouldnt be aloud in teams huddles.

There is a guy in my class that looks exactly like mark cuban in everything. If we loose, I'm gonna hurt him.
How can you complain that yao misses fouls. you should be happy because he actually gets a lot of false calls and you probably would have the mavs tied 2-2 if it hadnt been for some of those calls.

    Things I agree with:
    1) Mark Cuban can act like a real classless buffoon.
    2) Mark Cuban should NOT be allowed in the team huddle (I know he's the owner, but during games he should either be treated as just another fan OR as a member of the coaching staff, NOT both).
    3) Refs should make the correct call because it is the right call, NOT because of any outside influence.

    Things YOU might disagree with:
    1) As an owner, Cuban has every right to complain to the league if a call is missed.
    2) Cuban doesn't have to stay in the background. He can as an active an owner as he wants to be, except during the game.
    3) The NBA would be a better league if more owners would have the desire and initiative of Mark Cuban.

I agree with everything you said but not whats in bold. There are so many missed calls in an NBA game. It's impossible to correct everyone. The refs know this and they call what they see. If Cuban wants to complain why doenst he go threw the entire game and complain about every call and not just the ones that help his team. The NBA players are grown men. If calls arnt going your way that night you have to adapt to the game. Not have your "MOM" stick up for you.

Dont get me wrong tho. I think Cuban is a great Owner. He spends alot on making his players happy and also does things to keep the their Homecourt packed. He should be aloud to be have floor seats to cheer on his team. Hes a fan. But dont complain about officiating. I just heard that Van Gundy has also complained about calls on Yao. But hes a coach, if Cuban wants to complain let Avery do it.

When they win tonight... and it comes back to Houston... they should definitely not accomidate him with courtside seats. They should let him find his tickets from a scalper. I never liked him before .. and after hearing this news.. I can believe he is capable of doing this. Hell he probably offered the refs a job on one of his tv shows. [IMG] I smell something shady definitely with him. Heck you have to be super shady and underhanded to take on Donald Trump!

cbs sports reports that David Stern is going to be at game 5. I don't know if it's because of the accusations but hopefully the ref's are a little more fair with him in attendance. Another thing... when Cuban was notified of the charges... why was he ready with a list of questionable calls? He has been fined over $1 million.. already... hasn't the league learned that he is a hinderance to the game? I know he is an owner and all.. but should he be allowed on the court? come on now.. someone do something. I hope the Rockets kick the crap out of them tonight (sorry for my french)

I really don't care who wins anymore... just as long as Dallas doesn't get to the finals.

It's not hard to believe that you guys are Rocket fans. If you notice that Dirk keeps using his forearm to shove off T-Mac/Bowen/whoever on his drive (repeatedly), and there's no foul called, aren't you gonna complain as part of the organization? I sure would.

Spoiled? Did you watch his Beyond the Glory episode? The guy worked hard for his money and to get where he is.

Actually they don't really care if he is causing trouble. They fine him big and Cuban doesn't care. He feeds the NBA money thus they must like him. [IMG]

Mark's comments really must have "hit home" in the league office because like how you pointed out, Yao and Dikembe were both called for numerous illegal screens. That being said, this series isn't the only indicator of NBA officialls calling the illegal screen more. I was watching the NJ/Miami game as well as the Philadelphia/Detroit game and notced far more illegal ball-screens being called that normal.

As long as they call the illegal screen on both sides, it doesn't bother me. Maybe Les needs to be a bit more "outspoken" and compain to the refs. It works for Mark, there is no reason it can't work for Les as well.

Mark Cuban is great. i love his energy and his enthusiasm for the game. i see no problem with him notifying the league asking them to look into calls, i think the coach, gm or owner have that right. Personally i think its great Cuban took this route rather than publicly blast the refs and the league over the media.

    Cuban rules.

Maybe Mark can complain about some of the calls that hurt the Rockets tonight.

JuLiO-R, I agree that if Mark Cuban is really concerned about improving officiating around that league, then he should be "complaining" about bad calls regardless of which team it goes against.

However, is it realistic for him to keep tabs on all the "bad calls" that happens in the league? Is it even his job?

I think each team should be responsible for keeping track of all calls they deem as "bad" that goes against their own team, and in fact most of them do. It isn't unusual for them to send this info into the league office.

So, if you don't like Cuban because he does that, then you should have a beef with almost every team in the NBA.

Mark Cuban is a whiner and complainer...hes like the mother who cries when her kids dont get what they want or should deserve...he needs to quit involving himself and let his team play...its quite irritating and makes the mavs look babied, as if "ok, well mark will complain to the media so maybe we'll get our way"...thats why I thank God that Les shuts his mouth and stays out of the media while managing to put a competitive team on the court season after season...
